My hands and legs were set free from the cable ties and something slit my left forefinger. I could feel blood gushing out. I saw it dripping on the paper he had unrolled before. He then pressed a white handkerchief on my finger to stop the bleeding. The paper had disappeared into thin air.
I gasped for air. I could finally breathe, Ansel next to me was alive.
“Ansel!” I grasped his face in my hands. His eyes became larger than ever.
“What… How?” He asked me as I was helping him to get rid of the ties on his legs and hands.
“Don’t ask and get up!” I took care of the last cable tie on his hands.
“You didn’t…” I could hear him swallowing. I hid my finger in the white blood-stained handkerchief behind my back.
“Didn’t do what?” I asked, trying to play it, so he wouldn’t be too suspicious. We heard voices from behind the door. But it sounded like they were getting beaten up!
Dantalion
“Now, now… My dear friends. How does it feel like being beaten up? I hope you will remember this well, to not lay a single shitty dirty disgusting hair of yours on the girl again!” I stepped on one of the corpses lying down on the floor. Blood was flowing through the place. I smirked. Filthy humans. I stepped on another corpse on my way to the door to get the siblings out. I cleaned my hands in a white napkin, which I then let burn in the air. I hated my hands being bloody. I had had enough of that when I was younger, the massacres were a thing back in the days!
I opened the door.
“Wait! Not so fast! The floor is dirty!” I stopped the girl from running out of the room. She looked around in the corridor, then at me, before she passed out at the spot.
“Does it look so bad? I thought this wouldn’t make people pass out…” I mumbled to her brother, who stood there completely motionless. I shrugged and picked the girl up.
“Come on, sissy pants!” I said while walking through and on top of the corpses. And there I thought I made quite a masterpiece after a long time! These people can’t appreciate art, seriously! I turned around. The guy was seriously taking his time to walk around the bodies to not step on anyone, getting his shoes dirty from the blood.
“No, you’re doing it all wrong! You have to step on the bodies! You’ll get dirty!” I called out to him, but he didn’t pay any attention to anything I was saying. I sighed.
“Stupid humans!” I continued walking in the corridor and up the stairs to get out of the building. I kicked off a stupid corpse, which had occupied the stairs. They should mind where they die! Getting in the way, seriously! I groaned in annoyance as the body fell down from the stairs with a Thud!
I was waiting outside in the parking place for the guy to get out. He was sure taking his sweet time to get here!
“I can’t be babysitting you! Come on!” I shouted at him, still holding the girl in my arms. I looked at her peaceful face. This is how you’ll look once I get your soul! So peaceful! I sighed. I was so thrilled! I got my contract signed! Only one thing that was left!
“Right, right. When the contract is signed, only one more thing left…” I told myself, taking her left wrist into my hand and pressing my long nail into it. My sigil appeared on it right away with a bit of blood gushing out of her wrist. That was all I needed to finish the contract on the spot. I put her down on the asphalt road as I walked away.
“Zia!” I disappeared into the air.
…
“Welcome back, master! The contract has been sent directly to your study.” Torgrel, my butler had welcomed me right at the gate of my castle. I threw my coat at him and continued walking as he kept bowing to me. I didn’t even need to say a word and everything was done as I wanted it!
“I’ll bring you a glass of red wine to your office right away. Any special requests for dinner?” He kept following me like a loyal dog he was.
“Not really. Just wine and some WHISKEY will do…” I uttered without much care in the tone of my voice.
“All right. As you wish, master Dantalion.” I didn’t even need to turn around to know he bowed to me before leaving. Everyone in my castle was keeping their manners. They had to, otherwise, they’d be thrown out into the Hell plains, where their fate would be decided by how well they could fight against the beasts!
“Here you are! I didn’t even manage to read you! Those humans’ endurance is just so short!” I happily leaped to the desk in my big library, using my dark wings. I snatched the scroll from the surface and flew up high to the top parts of the library. Still in the air, I enjoyed opening the seal and reading the contents of what her blood had signed.
“Zia… You are mine. Your soul is mine.” I whispered to myself with a huge grin occupying my face. I read the contract again. It didn’t change. It was the same as before. Her full name was written on the bottom as well as a few drops of her blood. And now I can get Solomon! It will just take a while to prepare for drawing the soul out. Yes, a lot of preparation needs to be done! I descended back down and put the scroll on my desk. It immediately disappeared off to its rightful position among other contracts, which I was keeping a floor lower, in the basement.
I sat down in one of the armchairs and reached my hand for a glass of whiskey. I didn’t feel like having red wine. That was for small celebrations. Whiskey was for occasions like these, happy, joyful, fulfilling, satisfying… I smirked.
“Couldn’t be better!” I pronounced to the glass I was holding in my hand up in the air. I took another sip, enjoying the flavor of the best Hell-produced whiskey…
“What the mighty hell!” I spat out the sip I had just taken. I looked at the supposedly golden liquid in the transparent glass… The liquid was transparent as well.
“That’s freaking water, Haagenti!” I called out the uninvited guest, who had just turned my alcohol into plain awful water.
“I was wondering how long it would take you to notice. Hello, Dantalion.” Haagenti appeared from behind one of the columns in my big library.
“What do you want here?!” I puckered my brows, putting the glass back on the small table next to my armchair. Drinking water was useless! Just when I thought I could be home alone to celebrate my victory, he appears here, making my mood go sour! He should pick a better time to appear, damn that Great president of Hell!
“Well, I thought I’d stop by. I have been quite busy for a while and I realized I haven’t visited you ever since you came back to Hell! So, welcome home, duke!” He raised a glass of whiskey to me. I grabbed mine, which still had water in it. He was the only one who was able to turn alcohol into the water here and otherwise! I raised my glass to him as well but didn’t drink it.
“Whoops, sorry for that.” He snapped his fingers and my glass was full of alcohol once again. I gulped it in one go. I needed to quench my rage somehow.
“Well, I thank you for the glass. I shall be going now. A lot of paperwork to be done… Oh, by the way. I heard, by the mightiest ruler of Hell, that you want to draw a soul out! You already got the preparations going! What’s the rush? Found some interesting soul, which you want before it comes down here?” The silver-haired guy with two smaller horns on his head came closer to me, leaning towards me and stopping a few centimeters from my face with his.
“You know you aren’t able to meddle in my business,” I grumbled. In Hell, no demon was allowed to meddle in anyone else’s business.
“Just saying, no need to get angry. I’ll get going now! It’s good that you’re back, dear Dantalion! So many of us have been missing your great library! The greatest library in all Hell has finally gotten its owner back! Hope you let us browse the endless amounts of records and books again, we need to get some new demons working on their education.” With a sign of noble behavior, he smiled and left the library through the door without even opening it. I groaned. This is annoying! Why does HE have to visit me out of all demons here?! I would have preferred to be questioned by one of the Kings of Hell but not HIM! Making my whiskey go watery… I grabbed the glass, which had refilled itself, and gulped it down in one go again. My day was already ruined.
