Anastasia opened her eyes and looked around her. Everything was black and she couldn't see a thing, not even herself. She felt trapped in her body and all she could do was wait. She tried screaming, calling out for someone - anyone. Even though she loved the dark, she didn't like the fact she couldn't see. After all, darkness is dangerous too.
Night was safe. When she was home, alone or with her sister, she felt alive. When she was sitting on her couch next to her bay window, she felt like she was under the protection of the night, the stars and the moon.
But when the Moon's worst enemy, the Sun, made its appearance, it felt like it was making fun of her. Her brother had died under the Sun's watch and now every time it appears, everyone tends to remind her of him and how better life would have been if she had died and he had survived.
Then, memories of herself walking alone on the empty New York City filled her mind and she suddenly remembered being attacked by two strangers and another good looking man saving her by killing them. His eyes had changed color and his front teeth grew larger - she remembered everything.
Tears filled her eyes but she was quick to blink them away. Even though no one was there to see her cry - heck, she couldn't even see herself - she was tired of crying. When she managed to stop the tears, a small light appeared on the horizon and she was quick to follow it.
She jumped into the light and then, she opened her eyes.

Her eyes flew open and she let out a gasp as she sat up straight. She was lying on a master bed, its size being a little bigger than her own back home. The sheets that covered her thighs were a red velvet color and it felt so smooth under her fingertips. The room was painted a dark gray color while the floor was black with a red rug covering it. All the furniture was either silver or black. There were two doors; one leading towards her freedom.
She got up from the bed, her mind racing.
She remembered passing out and the red-eyed man, whose eyes were brown back then, cursing like a sailor letting her hit the floor with a loud thud. She didn't know what happened after that but she did know that she wasn't home or anywhere near home. He had taken her somewhere and she was determined to find where and how to get back.
She walked towards the windows, blood rushing to her legs making them feel tingly. She ripped the curtains open and almost sighed in relief where she saw a busy street up ahead. But then that relief was soon gone when she realized that she was way up from the ground - probably in a hotel or a skyscraper, she hopped for the first one.
Backing away from the windows, she felt bile rising up her throat. She then made her way towards one of the doors and prayed it was the one that led out of this room. A smile made its way on her lips and she came across a dark hallway. She walked down the small hallway, biting her lip. She felt as if someone was going to pop out of somewhere and scare her to death.
Oh, the irony she thought.
Some things weren't supposed to exist, they were just fairytales people told to entertain themselves. This wasn't too entertaining for her because she knew they were real while everyone else thought otherwise. She knew the truth; vampires were real and she was certain one of them was inside there with her. He was watching, somewhere in the shadows and all he had to do was look her way to make her fill uneasy and unsafe.
She arrived in an elegant living room but in this room, the curtains were drawn and a man in a suit was looking down on the busy streets, his hands in his pockets. They were muscular where needed and he looked pretty darn sexy but Anastasia knew she couldn't think like that now. He was the enemy - he was a bloodsucker and he could kill her with a blink of an eye like he killed her attackers.
"Good, you are awake." he spoke harshly, making chills run down her spine, "Your heart was beating so fast I thought you were going to die".
"What do you want from me? Why am I here? How did you --"
Suddenly, he turned around making her stop and gave her a mean glare that shook her to the core. She stepped backwards and bit her lip, making sure not to draw blood. His eyes looked down there and they darkened before he looked up to meet her eyes.
"Too many questions, human." The small comment at the end made her look away and she suddenly found her shoes very interesting for a reason. That comment made her feel like garbage but then she remembered he was the monster there. She met his eyes and locked gazes with him while taking a deep breath to calm her racing heart. "But I guess I'll have to answer them."
"What do I want from you? To forget! Why are you here? You are a threat to me --"
She cut him off, taking a few steps forward. She felt confused, angry and afraid at the same time. She really wanted to go home right now. But she couldn't help but add a sarcastic comment that had him rolling his eyes "How am I a threat to you, oh powerful bloodsucking freak?".
"My kind hates yours and if they learn that a human knows about our existence, I'm dead."
Anastasia bit back a smile but she couldn't help but add: "Aren't you already?"
The man laughed, "Oh, you stupid humans. We vampires aren't dead people walking. We are immortal humans that feed on blood instead of food."
"So you are alive?"
"Yes, immortal." The man made his way towards the couch and sat down before motioning for her to do so too. She knew she should have run, run away from there and towards safety -somewhere away from a monster- but she felt drawn to him. She had the desire to sit there with him and listen to all he had to say even though she knew that that information was going to eventually kill her.
Anastasia sat down on the couch opposite him and prepared herself for the things that were about to come.
