Serenity and Josh rode quietly near the edge of the village where they dismounted and tied their horses up.
“Wren, stay close to me please.” Josh looked at her hoping she’d agree to his request.
Serenity smiled at him. She knew he was nervous and she appreciated him coming with her. “I will.”
The two of them crept into the back of the village. There looked to be a celebration going on in the middle of the village circle. They could see dancing and a fire blazing in the middle. There were soldiers there eating and drinking and chatting happily with the villagers. Serenity turned to Josh and noticed his angry look. This was definitely not just a supply run. Serenity looked and noticed a way to get on the center roof of a tall building in the village. She pointed it out to Josh who nodded
