Damon: Ivy became lifeless beneath me just after I pulled from her. Her lips, which had just been melting against mine in perfect synchronicity had parted peacefully as she fell asleep, her body had been turned into a vessel whose spirit had been called to the holy place, a place I couldn't reach her no matter how I tried. That was a thought that sent fear throughout me like hot magma running beneath my skin.
