Chapter 2

1098 Words
I made my way down the halls at my high school looking for my best friend Samantha. She's more than a friend she's like my sister. I've known her since we were 4 years old. She's also working as a CNA with me at the hospital. She plans on joining the RN program as well "There you are." I told her when I finally found her.  "What's up Sophia" she looked at me confused.  "She's back at it again. I'm surprised she lasted this long honestly."  They have been married for about a year now. But my mom is at it again. She found someone who makes more money. Guess she got tired of waiting for Ryan to make it in the big leagues. He hasn't had any business partners yet. But it's only a matter of time before he finds that one person that will take him to the top.  "Who's the guy this time." She asked already knowing how my mother is.  "James St.Patrick."  She looks at me shock evident on her face.  "The multimillionaire James St.  Patrick?" She asked.  "The one and only." God at least she finally found someone that has money and hopefully she'll settle down with this one.  "At least we graduate in 3 days and you turn 18 in 2 weeks legally you don't have to go with her."  "Your right. It just sucks I just feel bad for Ryan. He's such a great guy. You can tell he actually loves her and is trying his hardest to make her happy. She doesn't deserve him." Samantha looks at me with a smile on her face.  "What?" I asked confused.  "Nothing. Nothing at all." She smirks.  "Don't forget we have to go shopping for our dress for graduation."  "Right we can go after school?" "Ok sounds good" The first bell rang and we both went our separate ways.  Once school was over we made our way to my car.  "Let's stop by the house to drop off our things and change into something more comfortable yeah?  I asked Samantha. Honestly I just want to change out of my black leather skinny jeans and my tight black crop top into some sweats and a baggy t shirt and my hair into a messy bun.  "Yeah sure. But I'm going to have to borrow some clothes." She tells me.  "Obviously. My clothes es your clothes." We both cracked up. Man I can honesty be funny sometimes.  Once I pull up in our drive way I notice a 2019 black camero  "Yes Jackson is here."  Jackson is Ryan's best friend also he partner at the office. Over the past year Jackson has become one of my closest friends considering our age difference of 7 years he can be pretty immature making me more mature than him.  "What where!" Samantha has a thing for Jackson which is funny because he also has a thing for her. But considering she's only 17 and he's 24 he's waiting til she's 18 to formally ask her out on a date. So in the mean time I have to keep my mouth shut and not say anything g which is kind of hard.   "Come on Sam let's go."  "Oh honey I'm home." I called out and Jackson head popped around the corner and a wide smile is on his face seeing two of his favorite girls walk through the door. "Baby girl I've missed you." He says walking up to me picking me up in a hug spinning me around. Once he put me down he looks to sam.  "How's my other favorite baby girl." And he does the same to her. Just than Ryan comes walking towards us.  "Wait I'm confused so who's your baby girl." He asked looking at Jackson  "They both are" he says winking at both of us.  I turn to look at Samantha asking if she's ready to go up in change. But at the corner of my eyes I see Ryan looking at me from head to toe. Sam must notice what I'm looking at because she starts to smirk noticing him as well. I played it off like I didn't see him.   "Well honey I'll talk to you later. Sam and I are guna change then hit the mall." I go up to Jackson and kiss him cheek and he wraps his arm around my waist and kiss my forehead. Ok that was weird.  "Oooookay. Let's go Sam." Once we were in my room I locked my door.  "What was up with that?" I asked Sam.  "He did that on purpose. You should of seen Ryan. His jaw clenched and he balled his hands to the point his knuckles were white." I scoffed at that.  "Yeah ok. Let's just go shopping already and get it over with. You know how much I hate shopping." "True what kind of girl doesn't like shopping. I absolutely love it." We have been at the mall for 2 hours already. Samantha decided on a tight strapless white dress that stops mid thigh and I decided to go with the same style but just in black. She picked black heels and I picked white. We laughed at how our outfits are the same just backwards. If that's not true friendship than i don't know what is. We decided to eat at the mall before we made our way back to my house.  "We're home" I called out. But no one answered. I walked to the kitchen and notice a note with $40 on it.  "Took your mother out on a date. Won't be back til late tonight so lock up and don't wait up. Here's $40 for dinner. Knowing you were with Samantha earlier I'm pretty sure she is with you right now reading the note as well so you guys enjoy dinner on me.  -love your stepdad Ryan "  I grabbed the $40 Ryan had left me and made my way to my room. I pulled out a shoe box from under my bed and added the money to it. Over the past year every time Ryan has given my money I had put it in this shoe box. I don't want him to thing I need his money for things when I have a job and I can provide for myself. So when my mom decides to sign those divorce papers he can't say anything to me about it.  "So how much you have in there so far." Sam asked. She's the only person that knows about this. I put the shoe box back under my bed and mix it with my other shoe boxes that actually have shoes in there.  "With that $40 that would make it $5,385" She whistles. "Dam. And you sure you don't want to spend it." "Positive. So what movie do you want to watch." "Frozen 2?" "Eh why not."
