“This isn’t like you, Ethan,” the alpha let out. “This is the first time in years you have brought in a rogue alive.”
Rose stiffened at that.
Could it be? Dare she think she was unlucky enough to stumble across the renowned rogue killer, the ruthless and wolfless warrior - Ethan Young?
“She’s too young and seems to be innocent, alpha,” was the answer he received.
Rose would have never guessed the man who had brought her in would plead in her favor in his own way.
“Explain the reasons behind your leaving your pack,” the alpha then commanded.
Rose gulped down her dread at that and then began in a shaky voice, “I am the fated mate of the alpha of Blood Moon Pack.”
“He rejected you?” Ethan asked from where he was still standing behind her.
“I wish,” she let out on a sigh. “He did worse. He made me watch him and one of the pack sluts go at it. I couldn’t stand that and left.”
“So, you ran?” The alpha asked, his eyebrows scrunched up in confusion.
“I did. Please don’t turn me in,” she then begged. “I’d rather be killed than have to go back.”
Indeed, Rose couldn’t picture her life with that manwhore of a mate.
The alpha looked behind her, and it almost seemed as if he was trying to get a reaction out of Ethan. The latter remained quiet.
“The werewolf community rules would dictate that I inform your alpha of your presence here,” he then said after some time.
“There should be a rule against forced matings, isn’t there?” Rose exploded, tears streaming down her face, as she was on the verge of hysterics.
“Of course there is,” the alpha said softly, taking pity on her, it would seem. “All things considered, nobody will force you to accept the position of Luna of the Blood Moon Pack.”
Rose sighed in relief.
“So, what’s your verdict, alpha?” Ethan asked.
“She’s staying,” he said in earnest.
“As a free-willed member or as a prisoner?” Rose asked, her voice trembling.
“Except for the fact that you trespassed without meaning to, I believe you have yet to do anything serious enough to warrant the dungeons,” the alpha chuckled.
Tears flooded her eyes at that. She was so relieved, it was hard to put it in words.
“Thank you, alpha,” she told him in a gratitude-filled tone.
“Anytime,” he smiled kindly at her. “Your initiation ceremony will be on Friday night.”
“Yes, alpha,” she said in response.
The alpha, who looked younger than Ethan, was so unlike her past alpha, it was maddening.
As Ethan ushered her out of the alpha’s office, and her thoughts were cut short, they met with the beta again who said in a warm tone, “Welcome to the Wild Moon Pack.”
