Chapter 11Monday, late afternoon
The doctor inserted the feeding tube and the IV line for electrolytes, fluid and antibiotics for the pneumonia and Vitamin A therapy for the measles. He also called for a ventilator.
While they did their work Jack watched Bella, and Carlo went downstairs to speak to the family. He had no doubt that every one of them was there, his own as well as Jack’s adopted family.
As soon as the elevator hit the lobby and the door opened he heard Mama.
“Carlo, where is Bella?”
“Bella is upstairs in the pediatric intensive care unit in an isolation room. She has the measles but the spots aren’t out yet. The measles gave her pneumonia. They’re feeding her through a tube in her nose because she won’t be able to suck on the n****e of the bottle properly when the measle
