New Friendships (updated Lucas)

They soon got their business up and running. With their experience, they became top players in their respective field within a short span of 5 years. Her weapons business grew and he was making more and more documents for his clients. Australia was huge and they were now connected to most of the werewolf clans in the country. Jade avoided dealing with the government and instead focused on growing her business amongst the vampires and the werewolves. Due to the vastness of Australia, she was never short of clients. One evening, on a full moon night, she had gone over deeper into the forest where she usually practised her energy restoring rituals. As she stood naked under the moon, soaking up its light, something attacked her. The animal pounced on her with full force and took her completely by surprise. What the hell? How? Jono always made sure to keep that area safe on a full moon night. Sharp claws raked her shoulders and she could feel the gashes. As she fell from the blow, she went into a roll, stopped, came up to a crouch and faced the animal. The momentum of the attack had carried the animal away from her. She was a trained fighter and swiftly retrieved her dagger from the heap of clothes that she had set aside before starting the ritual. She was ready for anything. The animal turned to face her. A huge wolf. How was it able to survive around here without getting poisoned? The thought baffled her. It attacked again. Jade was able to deflect the charge, but couldn’t wound it with her dagger. She realised her opponent was not an ordinary wild animal. She was facing a formidable fighter.  She wasn’t able to outflank the wolf. It knew the art of fighting in close quarters. Jade was trained in wielding all sorts of weapons. She had 450 years of self training and still, she could not land as much as a scratch on the animal. Jade felt like she was fighting with some kind of a brute force with fangs and claws, but behind that force there were moves that had thought and precision. It brought back memories of growing up inside the fort as a Visha Kanya, the many hours of practice wielding weapons against other Visha Kanyas and their weapon trainers.   In a few minutes, the wolf stopped attacking and Jade saw a violent quiver run through its body. The animal collapsed and turned into a human. A werewolf! My poison. She left her ritual incomplete, got back into her clothes and used her cellphone to call Jono. He was by her side within seconds. She asked him to take the werewolf to her house. Jade had to know why the werewolf attacked her. Jono argued and wanted to kill, but Jade persisted. He decided to go along with Jade’s instructions without making too much of a fuss. Jono placed the teenage looking body on the guestroom bed and made a few quick phone calls. He pulled a few strings to get a werewolf doctor to come over and have a look at him.  **** The young man was still breathing, but his breath was shallow. The Doctor examined him while Jade waited upstairs. His lips had a slight bluish tinge to them. Jono knew that was from Jade's poison. “Isn’t this Lucas?” He peered at the huge young man lying naked on the bed.   Jono stared at the doctor, “Lucas who?” “Lucas Rott. The younger son of the Alpha of the Silver Moon clan from WA!” “I had no idea!” Jono shrugged. That's why he did not die even after coming this close to Jade! He is from an Alpha family! “What happened to him? It looks like he is reacting to some form of poison, although I can't tell what.” The doctor frowned while checking Lucas’ pupillary reaction to light. His pinpoint pupils were not responding to the light from the doctor's torch.  Jono silently shrugged. “I found him on the grounds.” “Of your property?” “Yes. So we got him here.” “Are you sure you don’t know what happened?” The doctor narrowed his experienced eyes at Jono. He could tell that Jono was hiding something. “You wouldn’t want to pick up a fight with that pack, would you?” Jono frowned, thinking, they managed to keep Jade’s identity hidden for the last four centuries! Was he ready to change that? Was she ready to change that? He excused himself from the room and called Jade to check for her opinion. He returned to the room and said to the doctor, “Are you bound by the law of secrecy?” “That I am,” the doctor nodded. “So I have something to share with you,” Jono explained about Jade and her identity. The doctor was listening to him, spellbound. He interrupted Jono a few times when he had questions but otherwise heard out what Jono had to say. “Woah! That is crazy s**t! I have never heard of anything like this! Can I meet her?” He looked at Jono with bright eyes and wiggling hands. Curiosity clearly etched on his face. “Yeah sure. Do you want to find out if her poison is less potent to only Alphas or also to other werewolves?” Jono c****d an eyebrow. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to handle a dead werewolf right now. The doctor looked pensive. “I don’t think so. Let us keep that discovery for later. I would have loved to get to know her though.” Jono dialled her number, spoke to her and passed the phone to the doctor. “Hello Doctor, this is Jade.” Her sweet seductive voice poured through the phone. “Hey! Call me Brian. Nobody should have such a sweet voice.” He accused Jade and blushed when he realised what he had just said. The girl was something. He would need to know more about her for his own research. He checked with her if Jono’s story was true and requested to find out if her effect was actually that lethal. She laughed and said she wouldn’t mind demonstrating if he could find someone worth killing. That shut him up. Jade felt sad for the doctor so she continued, “I can beckon all sorts of poisonous creatures though. Who would you like to meet?” Brian was shocked. “How about calling a tiger snake?” “Sure! He may not like it though,” she laughed, enchanting the old man. “I am ready to take my chances. Something tells me that you won’t hurt me.” She laughed again, “you trust easily, doc! Please go over to the porch. Our tiger snake doesn’t like a tiled surface.” She disconnected. Jono and Brian headed out to the porch and Brian was surprised to see almost a metre long tiger snake hissing in the grass. Brian’s eyes were like saucers taking in the scene. Jono’s phone rang, he attended and Jade asked to speak with Brian. Jono smirked, “okay princess,” and stretched the hand with his phone towards the stunned doctor. “You little ripper!! This is bloody amazing,” he shouted into the phone. “Thank you doc. Now may I ask him to leave? He was busy with his girl.” “Wow! Sure!” The snake looked at them and then slithered away. Jade was still at the other end of the call. “I would have loved to meet you doc, but I can’t risk it. Lucas is lucky he survived. I have seen many people die when they try to get close to me.” She sounded serious. “No wuckas! See you later,” he handed over the phone back to Jono and said, “you have some sheila there! Is she your girl?” Jono laughed heartily, “yes, kinda my girl. I like you, Brian.” Brain smiled. He handed a few medicines to Jono and gave instructions about administering them to Lucas as and when needed. After requesting him to call if needed, Brian left. **** Lucas had tried to attack Jade thinking that she was a witch. He had been out with his friends to go over to a pub for a beer. The two guys had found girls for themselves and taken off, leaving the 18-year-old redhead behind to drain his beer.   He wasn't into frivolous relationships. After finishing his drink he found the loud music of the pub irritating, so he headed out. His friends had taken the car. He decided to take the route through the forest in his wolf form. It was a beautiful full moon night. A good run would refresh him. As he ran through the forest, a whiff of sweet berries accosted his nostrils, making him change his path instinctively and trot towards the scent. He froze when he reached a clearing. A stunning beauty had discarded her white gown, removed her bra & knickers and was now standing upright with her hands raised high in the air. She was swaying her hips and doing some sort of a sexy dance while chanting something in a foreign language. His ears could catch her sensuous voice only because he was a wolf. His body responded to the show of feminine sensuality. He wanted to change into his human form and take the woman right there on the green grass in the cool breeze under the full moon. That shook him up. He hadn't had such dirty thoughts ever. Who is this Nymph? What is she doing? A ritual? Oh Moon Goddess! She is a f*****g witch! He thought in agitation and almost immediately his feelings about her shifted. He needed to kill her. Witches were pure trouble and this one was too near to his clan's territory. He had to protect his territory! He trotted silently to her back. The stupid witch could neither smell him nor hear him. He moved fast, gathered some momentum and leapt on her back with his claws out for maximum damage. They slashed through her back. He knew he would need to make the most of the element of surprise. He couldn't give her any time to complete a spell.   She was quick. She rolled over and crouched looking at him. He was analysing her every move. So the witch was a trained fighter? All the more reason to kill her! He lunged again, aiming for the neck. She had a dagger in her hand. Where did she get it from? She was wielding it like a warrior. His training kicked in and he dodged the deadly blade. He turned around again. Why wasn't she using her powers? Had he made a mistake? Was she really a witch?  He felt terrible about attacking a human. Something was suffocating him. His breath was gagging and his head was getting heavier. He couldn't think. He had to change his form. Maybe he could talk to her in his human form and apologise. As he changed into a human, he shuddered with a sudden bout of nausea and an unnatural chill. He collapsed and blacked out. The next day, when he woke up, he was in a strange room. It took some time for him to gather his thoughts and recollect the events of the previous night. He was naked under the sheets. A few medicines and water was kept at the bedside table. A note in beautiful cursive writing insisted that he have his medicines before meeting the owners of the house in the living room.  He got up and looked around. He was on a comfortable queen sized bed. To his right, he could see light seeping in through the french windows which were covered with cream drapes, complete with tiebacks in contrasting black and gold. To his left, he saw a door that looked like the bathroom. The wall on the left had water paintings of white lilies, pink and white lotuses arranged one after the other giving a lively feel to the entire room. He guessed, he was in a rich woman's house. The nighttime memories increased his heartbeats. Was it the same woman? Would he be able to make the woman fall in love with him? But she wasn't his mate. What would happen when he found his mate? He shook his head as if to empty it of the weird thoughts. He took the medicine from the bedside table and went over to the bathroom to get showered. He was happy to find a fresh toothbrush and a bathrobe along with all the other toiletries required by both a man or a woman. Looked like the host was pretty hospitable. She was pretty for sure, he thought as he showered.  He walked into the living room in only a bathrobe. A man and a woman sat at the dining table. The man was drinking blood from a wine glass. So, that surely was a vampire. He sat opposite to a woman who was drinking something from a silver glass, that would be the same woman. She looked a lot more attractive in the daylight. Her green eyes were in contrast to her dusky asking. Her black curls fell over her cheeks and she sipped from a silver goblet using her luscious lips. Those were some seriously sexy kissable lips! "Don't stand staring at her for too long or you may collapse again. Your body can sustain only a few minutes of her poisonous presence," the vampire smirked at his confused expressions. "I am Jono and this is Jade." Jade looked up at him and smiled. It was the brightest smile he had ever seen, "Hi Lucas. How are you doing? You are a good fighter! Good my body recovers quickly or I would be in an infirmary right now!" He greeted them and sat next to Jono. Jade passed him a plate of bacon, eggs and toasts. He ate gratefully. He hadn't realised how hungry he was until he saw the food. While he ate, Jade and Jono explained Jade's special condition. It was disheartening to know that he couldn't ever be her lover. But it was worse to know how lonely she had been. He decided to be her friend. He was grateful for his Alpha gene. At least he would be able to be in her presence for a few minutes before getting affected by her poison. Something had changed in him the moment this lonely exotic beauty had dodged his leap and crouched in front of him under the full moon last night. He would always be by her side. From that day he became Jade’s best friend. His elder brother and their family welcomed Jade into their lives. They loved the sweet spoken strong woman. Lucas' elder brother became the Alpha of the Silver Moon clan after 5 years. His mate, Luna Emily and Jade got along like sisters. Jade appointed Lucas as her company CEO, once he got his MBA. Now she wasn’t so lonely anymore. Lucas Rott was a sharp businessman and a fun personality to be with. She had a best friend and an actual family that cared for her. ***
