" she was seducing you. This could mean that she isn't a virgin. " Jared said as Ken continues to stare at the ceiling of his room but he could not that Ken was not seeing the ceilings. Ken was lost in his head right now. " Ken. " Jared shouted as Ken jumps at his friend tone.
" don't do that again, you frightened me. " Ken said as he put a hand over his erratically beating heart.
" soon you will swoon and act like a girl. " Jared snorted but Ken just glared at him.
" is there a reason why you shouted my name like you were in the throes of passion. " Ken asks and that immediately stopped the little laughter that was coming from Jared as it was his turn to glare at his friend.
" I was telling you that since she tried to seduce you it could be that she isn't a virgin. "
" well, it might be true but there is no way for me to know. " Ken shrugged but when Jared gave him a pointed look. " what, it is not like I can walk up to her and ask her... Hey, you are not a virgin are you? "
" you can't ask her but if you sleep with her, you will know for sure. "
Ken shook his head. " no, I cannot stomach sleeping with her. "
" you might not be able to stomach it but the part of your body that is required to get the work done had no problem with it, this afternoon when she tried to seduce you. " Jared said as Ken looked at his friend like he would love nothing more than to club him over the head.
" I was weak for a moment. It won't happen again and besides even if I could stomach the idea. It is too risky. If she is a virgin, I have to marry her. "
" and if she is not, you would be free. "
" the stakes are too high and I think that even if I am not forced to marry her, the council are already warming up to the idea of me settling down. I don't want to settle down yet. " Ken frowns.
" then you saying that you have a beloved don't really win you points in that regard. "
" thank you for staying the obvious. " Ken rolls his eyes.
" I am just reminding you. Your father will soon get impatient too. You need to come up with a plan now that will not destroy you. You have put it off for as long as possible so start thinking. "
" I can't think, my mind is running too loud at this moment. " Ken groans.
" should I get your mother. " Jared offered
" I cannot tell my father that it is all a lie. He will get me married to Fallon as fast as possible even if he thinks my reasons are valid just to teach me a lesson that I should never play those kind of games. "
" the you better come up with a solution. "
Ken groaned at that, where will he see an elite daughter whom everybody will hate that they would prefer not to have him married at all
Jared slapped his shoulder with a resounding smack. " cheer up brother. I am sure that you will figure it out eventually ."
Ken raised his eyes to Jared and when he saw glee swimming in Jared eyes he glared at his best friend. " you did that on suppose didn't you. "
" yes I did and it felt good. " Jared admitted. " finally a taste of your own medicine so you will know next time not to clap me on the shoulders. "
" that is it. You are dead. " Ken snaps out as Jared let out a laugh and took off running with Ken going after him. Soon they left the castle and ran out to the fields behind it.
After a while of running around Jared cried out. " truce. "
" and why should I agree to that. "Ken asks breathing heavily.
" because you are tired and your breathing had turned ragged. I don't want the blame to be on me when you faint from being exhausted. " Jared said.
" fine. Truce called. " Ken said as he stopped running and collapsed on the grass.
" such a lazy boy. " Jared tutted as he ran circles around Ken.
" get down here, Jared stop acting like you are not tired. "
" fine. " Jared said as he falls down on the grass near Ken with their heads close to each other.
For the next few minutes none of them said anything, they just lay on the grass watching the blue sky that was slowly fading into orange. Each lost in his own thoughts and enjoying the quiet company of the person who has always had their back, the person that will always be there for him. To Jared, Ken was his brother and will be for eternity. They were brothers from different mothers while to Ken, Jared has always and will always be the person he has his back. His bond to his friend has exceeded that of friendship and brotherhood. He would die for Jared and he doesn't need an example to know that Jared would do the same for him.
" I cannot believe that you are getting married brother. " Jared said being the first to break the silence.
" I don't want to get married. "Ken said seriously.
" if only, this pretend girl of yours could be someone that everybody hate so much that they would not agree for you to marry her and you would put your foot down that if it isn't her, that you won't tie yourself down to any other person. " Jared jokes but Ken quickly sat up.
" Jared, you are a genius. You just solved my problem. "
" of course I am a genius. I solved your problem ? " Jared asked
Ken just laughed. " you did, now all we have to do is find an elite that every body else hates. "
Jared chuckles. " that is impossible. "
" no. It isn't. There are a lot of poor elites who have the blood but no wealth. We just need to find the best. " Ken said with a grin. " will you help me. "
Jared snorted " you know that you don't need to ask. "
