13 How Come He’s in My Room

“How could you doubt me?” Dani covered her chest and teetered as if she would faint at any time. “I can’t believe I’m such a vicious woman in your mind. I didn’t do anything to her. I ran into her when I was here to have dinner with Cherry. I wanted to stop those guys from bullying her, but Cherry was worried that I would get hurt, so she stopped me,” she explained with an aggrieved look. Hearing that, Cherry immediately turned around. When she met Dani’s indifferent eyes, she became flustered. “Yes, yes! Mr. Harvey, Dani just came out of a coma and was very feeble, so I wanted her to stay away from those guys.” Blake’s face softened a little. “I'm sorry to have misunderstood you. You’re still very weak, so you’d better rest at home.” Dani nodded like a tame bunny. “Blake, my parents miss you very much. Do you want to see them?” Blake said, looking in the direction of the stairs, “My customer is waiting for me. I’ll ask my driver to send you back.” “No need. Now that you’re busy, I can ask Cherry to drive me home,” Dani said “considerately” and waved goodbye to him before leaving with Cherry. Watching her walk away, Blake heaved a sigh of relief. He had no idea why he felt so uneasy whenever he was with Dani after she woke up. Maybe it was because they had kind of drifted apart after three years, or because they both changed. He returned to the VIP room and said goodbye to his customer after a few words, then strode in the direction Lola had left. Dani and Cherry walked out around the corner of the stairs. Watching him leave from behind, Dani grabbed Cherry’s arm hard, her eyes bloodshot. He must have gone to see that b*tch! They’ve been divorced. Why does he still care about her so much? As she exerted so much strength on her hand, her fingernails drove into Cherry’s flesh, which made her cry out in pain. “Da-Dani, let’s go.” When she looked back and saw the ferocity in Dani’s eyes, she nearly lost her balance in horror. “Cherry, I’d like to make friends with you because you’re a smart girl. I don’t want anyone else to know what happened just now. Do you know what I mean?” Cherry hurriedly nodded. “Sure. I won’t spill the beans.” Seeing how scared she was, Dani felt a little relieved and walked toward the door. … After dressing up Lola’s injured fingers, Roger looked up and saw her stare blankly ahead, her eyes puffed from crying. He said with a sigh, “Lola, cheer up. I’ll definitely have the ring restored to its original form.” Lola’s eyelashes trembled slightly. “Don’t bother. I don’t want to get it repaired. Now that we're divorced, I should get over him.” It was the only thing that she had taken out for memories from their house, but it seemed like God didn’t want her to keep it. Watching her in a daze, Roger’s heart ached again, but he could do nothing helpful. She had been with Blake for three years, so it was just normal that she felt so painful now. As the saying goes, ‘Time heals everything’, Roger believed that she would survive such heartbreak as time went on. “Take a good rest. I’ve asked for a few days off for you. You can go back to work after you recover.” Lola said guiltily, “I’m sorry. I’ve been working here for only a few days and I’m causing this trouble.” “It’s not your fault. Those b*stards started it. You’re just a victim. I’m going to check out their background.” After comforting her for a while, Roger left so she could take a nap. Now the room was quiet again. Leaning against the pillow, Lola carefully held the ring with her bandaged fingers and burst into tears. After a while, she was so exhausted that she fell asleep. While she was sleeping, she felt like someone was wiping her tears away gently, filling warmth in her heart. When she woke up a while later, she felt a warm, itchy sensation on her eyelids, but the moment she opened her eyes slowly, it was gone. Just as she was about to get out of bed, she heard faint breathing by her side and was startled. “Mr… Lance? Are you still there?” As soon as she finished speaking, she heard the faint breathing turn into a gasp as if someone was in a huff. “Hum! You’re looking for him as soon as you woke up!” She shivered and moved backward at the snort, clutching onto her blanket. She had been with Blake for three years, so she couldn’t be more familiar with his voice. Gosh! How come he’s in my room?
