Chapter 22 – Alive
The sound of voices brought Jerry out of his coma.
“I think he's waking up.”
“I'll get Colonel Glover and the Paragon hussy.”
Jerry groaned and opened his eyes. He was in a bed in a strange room. He wanted to sit up, but he couldn't move. His body felt heavy and numb, as if it belonged to someone else.
“Don't try to move,” Kajora said. She stood beside the bed. “You've had a close call. You need to rest for a little while.”
“Right,” he whispered. He focused on taking deep, rapid breaths, almost hyperventilating. A little oxygen might perk him up, he hoped.
“I've treated the infection,” Kajora said. “So don't worry about that anymore. I also examined the physical damage in your shoulder. You got lucky. There's no need for surgery, and you shouldn't have any muscula
