~Chapter 7~

Even after making sure Ruth will have everything she needs for a long time, Lucea can't help but be worried about her young sister as soon as she left. Ruth has always been by her side where she could see and make sure she is safe since birth, and the fact that she has gone off on her own to a strange land worries Lucea to no end. It has been three days since Ruth left and Lucea can only hope that she is alright. She is standing on the balcony gazing down at her pack members going about their daily activities without a care in the world. Why have things gotten to this? she hopes wherever they are, her parents don't blame her for the way things had turned out between her and her sister. She hears the door open and close behind her, knowing that Roderic has come back. She doesn't turn to look at him until she feels him snake his arms around her. "You know it is not good for you to feel stressed in that condition, right? tell me what is bothering you." She turns in his arms and leans her cheek against his hard chest, breathing in his masculine scent which seems to have a calming effect on her. "I am worried about my sister. I feel tempted to follow her and bring her back home. Goodness knows how she is getting on with everything. She has never lived away from me before, and I believe after the anger has finally worn off, she will want to be around me. She will need my love and care." Roderic listens to her worries, then gives careful thought to her words. "I am a bit worried about her too, but you need to understand that Ruth is no longer a little girl. Surely you didn't expect her to remain under your wings forever. She is a young woman now and perfectly capable of looking after herself. Do not worry too much, my love, families get separated all the time." "It's hard when it is my sister we are talking about. You can't understand how it feels." It feels to Roderic like Lucea is implying that he can't understand how she feels because he has never had a sibling himself, but he can't be affected by her words now because he knows it must be because of pregnancy. The hormones has been causing her to be excessively emotional recently, and her sister's decision to leave the pack did nothing to help. "She will be fine, I am positive about that," Roderic says. "Have you tried her?" Lucea sighs. "I tried several times to call her, but I can't reach her. Maybe it's because I have never made an international call before, I don't know. Can you help me? maybe I was doing something wrong," she lifts her face to gaze at his, and he steals a kiss on her lips, as though he can't help himself. "Maybe she has switched it off or blacklisted you," he says. "Can you try to be more positive? you are not helping!" she complains, already feeling tears gather at the corners of her eyes as she considers the possibility of Roderic's words. Ruth left partly in anger, after all. "I am sorry. Just write her an email, if she has blocked your number, try sending her an email or something, that's if she hasn't blocked that too." This causes Lucea to lose it and start crying earnestly, surprising both herself and her mate, as she finds herself unable to control her tears. "Lucea, no, don't cry, my love. I wasn't... goddess." Roderic cups the back of her head with one hand, the other running the length of her spine comfortingly. He really should be very careful about what he says to her. She isn't herself until the time the baby will be born. Placing his lips against her temple, he whispers soothingly to her. "I will rub your feet for two hours. I will get your favourite food for you. Just don't cry, my lovely wife." His words are getting through to her, as her sobs begin to quieten down. Encouraged, Roderic adds, "If you will stop crying, we can take a look at her whereabouts using our super wolf powers. That way, we will know for certain if she is safe and happy or not, instead of just guessing." Lucea raises her head again and wipes her tears with her sleeve. She smiles up at her handsome mate, pleased by the idea. "Brilliant! how did I not think of that? we should look at her right away, and when we have confirmed that she is alright, you are going to rub my feet. They are so swollen and sore, and Mia has gotten a little weary of giving me a foot rub that I believe she has started avoiding me." He chuckles. "You are overthinking things. She isn't avoiding you." "Whatever. Let's go in now and see what my sister is doing." He carries her in, going to set her on their bed. "As you well know," Roderic says, looking down at her face and brushing her hair away from her face with one hand while the other one buries in the mattress beside her, supporting his weight, "this will involve a lot of energy. I need you to save yours for the baby, so I will secure the connection and then let you in on it." She nods, her eyes bright with anticipation . "Go right ahead. "
