~Chapter 9~

887 Words
Being a first year student is a very nerve wrecking experience, especially in a strange environment with strange people all around, from different countries. However, Ruth is lucky to make friends immediately, three girls that are also pursuing a degree in business management. However, she has found Lucy, a Brazilian girl, more interesting than the others, therefore choosing to spend more time with her, their mutual interest in each other fueled by the fact that both of them are werewolves. After the lecture, the two of them stand in the hallway, talking, and it is at this point that Lucea and Roderic get a vision of them, though they are oblivious to it. They chat animatedly, sharing stories of their lives back home and getting to know each other more. Both of them look quite good and attract the attention of almost every guy that passes by. And they can not be blamed. With her curly blond hair and light eyes, Ruth is a beauty now. Lucy has a wealth of dark hair, long face and she is slim-hipped with clear skin, giving her the appearance of a fashion model. Of course the two of them are going to get all the attention. "We are attracting too much attention," Lucy observes, almost fretting. "Must be the recent make over I had just before I came here. A friend of mine insisted I work on my appearance after my parents announced that I would be studying from abroad. I was never popular in highschool, you see, and I am surprised by all this interest." Ruth, who was neither the popular girl nor the nerd in highschool, makes a sympathetic noise as she listens to Lucy. Ruth is used to getting attention. She might not be the prettiest girl, but she has always been good at taking care of herself, her skin, and she is a fashion loving girl who likes going through fashion magazines and keeping up with the latest styles. She doesn't find it surprising that the guys are staring, and she has no interest in any of them. She is too preoccupied with finding Sebastian to care about any other man. "You must have had a horrible experience," Ruth says. "But here, things won't be the same for you. You have the right girl for a friend," Ruth gives her a pleasant smile. "Glad to know that," Lucy says. "Where is your dorm? I will walk you there, then later show you to my dorm room so we can be visiting each other." Ruth smiles apologetically. "Goodness, I don't live in the school dorms. I..." "Oh, you're renting an apartment? I tried to convince my parents to..." "No, no, dear, I am not renting an apartment," her cheeks heat up now. "You have relatives here, then?" She doesn't know what to do now. Lucy's questions make it even difficult for Ruth to disclose how she lives. "You could say that. Come on," she says before Lucy can ask more questions. "Walk me to the parking lot. I am sure the driver has come for me." The 'driver' is actually Mr Nik, but it sounds to Lucy as though Ruth has a personal driver. Ruth senses that, but she makes no effort to correct the impression. When they get to the parking lot, however, Mr Nik is not there. Ruth takes out the phone he gave her early in the morning to use before she gets her own phone to call him, when she notices the most gorgeous man she has ever seen going to his car. Suddenly, she feels the need to breath twice as fast as always to get enough air into her lungs. He is a tall man with bulging muscles barely concealed by the custom made purple suit he is wearing, his jaw is sharply defined, and that hair, oh god, Ruth wishes to run her fingers through it, feel the texture of it. The man has two bodyguards as big as him following behind, and when he reaches his car, one of the men hastens to open the door for him. "Wow," Ruth faintly hears her friend mutter. "He is gorgeous. I can't blame those girls for taking pictures of him." Ruth looks in the direction Lucy is pointing and sees a group of giggling girls with their phones out snapping pictures of the gorgeous man. He must be a very important man. And she isn't the only one stricken by him. She is surprised that her feelings for the strange man have surpassed what she feels for Sebastian, making her question if she really loves him as much as she previously thought. This man has snatched her heart right out of her chest, sat with it in that expensive car and going to pack it in his house, for good. She just knows that these feelings have come to stay. Poor Sebastian. If he has been hoping to see her again at all, he will have to forgive her. Funny, considering he is the one she followed here. But the man has so unexpectedly stolen her heart. "I wonder who he is?" Ruth says absently, watching the car drive away. "I have no idea, but we will find out soon, won't we? he seems to be a student at this university."
