Ch13 - Protector ii

Blood. Never would I have thought that the sight of blood would save those who fell under my wrath. Never has it happened too. I always take revenge before taking stock of the damage but the blood dripping from Yura’s mouth cleared small of the red haze that surrounded my eyes. She was bleeding, she was already injured from the day before fight with the female wolves in the pack house. I didn’t know which damage was done and how it would affect her. What if it was life threatening? That thought stopped my advance towards those who caused her injury. “The same girl whom you had injured is your savior. I hope you remember that the next time that you go after her because there will be no mercy.” I gritted out as I raised Yura and took her out of the bathroom. This is just my third day here and I have seen enough. The strong are not string because they bully those who are weaker. What I was searching for was not to be found within the sets who attacks Yura. That meant that I could stay true to my words. The next time I catch anybody going after Yura. They would weep and curse the day that they were born. ****************************** The school nurse was a waste of my time. I am contemplating maybe I should have gone ahead with my wolf’s suggestion. Take her to the woods, strip her naked and turn into a wolf and then lick her wounds. Then act ignorant when she wakes up and asks why she smells like me. The only useful thing the school nurse did was to get my rage up once more. She didn’t know more than me so she tried to. Her listing the old scars which were all around Yura’s body, from fractures to wound scars that didn’t heal quickly enough not to scar. By the time she was done, I was panting in anger. I left Yura with her as I stomped to the cafeteria. Few minutes left until the bell rings. The warning one has already sounded but I didn’t care. I entered the cafeteria and walked to Ben’s table. I knew all about the hierarchies, I was the one who twisted it to place an Alpha to be more powerful than the Luna. I don’t know what my brother has twisted it further into but I did know, nobody challenged the Alpha. Ben might not be the Alpha yet but it didn’t change the fact that I am already challenging his rule. Something which I should not have and still shouldn’t. I was never one to obey rules even the ones I set. Reaching his table, the one where he held court among those he favored in his pack of friends. One of the tormentors were seated there. She jerked in shock when I slammed my palm against the table. The sound and force of it was enough to silent both the humans and the wolves. “Yura.” I growled out. Ben looked up slowly from my hands which was at his table to my face. When his eyes reached my face, he raised an eyebrow at me. “What about her?” He asked. “She is under my protection now.” I stated as I removed my hands from his table and leaned back to my full height. It also wasn’t an official challenge but I towered over him, presenting a picture of supremacy over him. He frowned at that. Losing some of his cool façade which he cultivated. “Nobody touches her and goes unpunished.” I raised my voice looking at the wolves around me before turning back to Ben. “Not a pack member, not one of your friends or even the one who sees herself as your future Luna.” I ended glancing at the girl present at the table. “Are you threatening my girlfriend Cousin?” Ben asked bristling. “I don’t threaten. As long as she stays away from Yura then I have no business with her,” I ended as I turned and walked away. Some of Ben male friends started to say some choice words in reference to me but I ignored them. This was expected since I haven’t proven myself just yet. What will not be expected however is the fury which I will reign when they do go against my words. Wolves never listen to mere words. They will listen when I take someone’s head off. *************************** I didn’t say a word to Yura until I have driven her home. This time she made no complaints when I picked her up from school and took her to my car even though others were still in the car park and milling around so wolves did see her getting into my car. The thought that those girls might have broken her spirit made me angry but I kept it contained. She needed my help and gentleness now, not me reminding her of the pain she must pass through on a daily basis. I have also never being one who could keep my thoughts to myself especially when it was eating at me. “Why do you allow them to treat you that way Yura?” I asked just as I stopped the car in front of her house. Yura didn’t say anything. The only sign that I got that she heard my question was her fingers tightening on her bag straps. “I don’t allow them to treat me anyway Kayne. They do that all on their own.” “I find that hard to believe.” I muttered. “You don’t fight back, you just cower and pray for them to let go of you while you are still alive. Why do you choose to be this weak Yura. You are a wolf. Even if you are weak, you still have some atom of power within you… or your wolf. Use it!” I ended, my frustration making my voice louder. Yura looked at me with raised brow, like I was a child throwing a tantrum. “You wouldn’t understand Kayne. Let it go. I am tired.” Watching her as she brush my words away like they didn’t matter made me even angrier. “For God sake Yura would you stop treating everything in life like it doesn’t concern you.” I hit the steering wheel. When I faced Yura, angry at her indifferent display at the issue, I found her eyes blazing. With the color white flashing through her eyes which were usually full of indifference like what was happening to her wasn’t really happening to her but somebody whom she didn’t know. Those eyes were not indifferent now, they were angry. The reaction which I was expecting from her, she would give it to me.
