CHAPTER 12
Excited as he walks out of the hospital, Trace shares what he saw. “Mom’s getting better. When I told her about my last assignment, she was right there with me. She understood everything I said.”
Lisa smiles. “Yes, and it warmed my heart immensely. She’ll be okay. I know it.”
“Well, what I saw—” Ryan says, “—was a family reunion. Can’t beat that.”
Trace puts his arm around Ryan’s shoulder. “You’re part of that family, buddy.”
After climbing into the car, Trace does a double take when he looks in the rearview mirror. “We have company.” He turns the ignition key and glances at Lisa and Ryan. “Shall we have some fun or try to lose them?”
Ryan checks the side mirror. “The white sedan?” Trace nods. “What kind of fun are you considering?”
