At four o’clock the following morning, with the half-moon visible through the pine trees, Trace and Lisa prepare for a trip. The sun won’t rise for another two hours, and they plan to be at their destination by daybreak.
Not saying a word, the pair scurry around the suite. As planned, they program the TV to play at half past seven and the coffee maker to begin brewing at the same time. They re-check the backpack for the area map, extra clothes, bottles of water, and a few energy bars. At the door, Lisa takes her briefcase just in case. They’re ready to go. With a quick high-five, the two sneak down the stairs to the first floor. Upon seeing no one, they exit to the back of the hotel.
