Chapter 7 - WE NEED TO FIND THEM

1601 Words
JACE When we got back to the pack, we headed to the office. Everyone took seats even though Dan was pacing back and forth. "We need to find them," he says, "Why would they leave like that? Where would they have gone?" I look at him as an image of Thalia comes into my mind, her damn gorgeous blue eyes. I want her here with me. But he is right. Why would they leave like that? Someone clears their throats, "Both of you take a chill. They probably had to get ready for work or something as they are humans," says Aaron. I frowned at him, "That doesn't make sense," I said to him, "We all had an awesome night." "This doesn't feel real," says Dan as he looks at me; his eyes are glassy. I know he feels. I'm fighting to hold Rolf back but also dealing with my emotions. "I know man," I said to him. "What about Liam?" Asks Rita suddenly, "Have you asked him if his mate would know where they would have gone? Aaron told me last night that you all met her too." That's right; we met Liam's mate, Rosa. I look at Dan, who has a blank expression on his face. He must have been mind linking with Liam. After a few moments, Dan looks at me but frowns, "I asked Liam if he knew about Rosa's friends," he says. I couldn't help but feel impatient all of a sudden, "Well, what did he say?" I asked him. Dan sighs, "Liam told me that Rosa is at work, so he can't ask her anything just yet; she works at the local beauty salon if we want to talk to her," he says. Aaron looked at him with a frown, "Well, that ain't going to happen is it? You will both look like idiots walking into a beauty salon," he says. But Rita clears her throat once again, "I could," she says as she looks between all of us. "I mean, I could walk in the salon and have my hair done, Dan could ask Liam to take me, he could introduce me as a cousin or something. I could slip in the talk about the girls," she says. "How will you do that?" I asked, thinking it might not be such a bad idea to send Rita in. Rita smiles, "Women talk Alpha, and I can find out and come back here to tell you what she tells me," she says. I nod. Dan mind links Liam to find out if it is okay for Rita to go once everything is put in place. Rita left the office once Liam confirmed everything was okay to go. He told her he would be outside waiting for her. Once she left, all three of us men got to pack business. I was looking over emails when I noticed one from the local Elder demanding a meeting to see me about some urgent matter. I picked up the phone and dialed his number as it would be quicker for me to speak to him. The phone rings, and it's answered on the second ring. "Hello," says a female voice at the other end, "How may I help you?" "Is it possible to speak to Elder Archie, please?" I asked her as politely as I could. I hate dealing with Elders. "It is Alpha Jace from The Shadow Moon Pack." "Ah yes, Alpha, I will put you through now," she says and puts me on hold. Elders are on the council and have some authority over some of the rules within the pack, but they usually never want to get involved in domestic pack business or when it comes to war. I'm more curious about why the Elder wants to meet or talk to me, for that matter. I could see Aaron and Dan looking at me, but they had folders in their hands. "Hello, Alpha Jace," says a gruff voice, "It is so nice of you to ring. I gather you are ringing regarding the email I sent you." "Yes, I am," I told him, "Why would you like to set up a meeting for." I try not to sound pissed off, but something tells me I'm not going to like what he has to say. "Well, Alpha, it has come to our attention that we need to make a visit," he says. "Someone from your pack has contacted us and told us that you have not found your mate or even chosen one, is that right?" I couldn't help but growl, "What is it to do with the council or you, Elder?" I said to him through gritted teeth. I could feel Aaron and Dan staring at me. My alpha aura must be sweeping through as they show me their necks. I close my eyes and calm down slightly. "Alpha Jace," says Elder Archie, "I have good authority to come and check the pack under the council's orders. I can evaluate what needs to be addressed, but please assure you I won't be alone. I will be bringing another member of the council with me." "Do I have any say in this?" I asked him through gritted teeth. "You do not," he says. "I will be with you next week for the meeting, and Alpha Jace, I would like you to make sure you have all documents and everything ready for me, as I want to go over files too when I get there." With that, he shuts the phone down. I couldn't help but grab the phone and pull it out of the socket, throwing it towards the wall. It breaks into a few pieces. My anger is sweeping in, and even Rolf is pissed off. I looked over to my Beta and Gamma, who were both looking at me with shocked faces, "Elder Archie and another council member will be here in a week; we need all the files and documents ready as he wants to check up on us," I said. Dan frowns, "Why the hell is the Elder and council member coming here?" He asks. "Someone informed them that I still have no mate or chosen one," I said with a snarl. "Who the hell would do that?" Growls Aaron. I have a few ideas who, but proving it will be another thing. Dan looks at me, "Well, hopefully, we can find our mates, and we can put it to rest," he says with a bit of hope in his voice. I hope that we can find Thalia and her friends, but mainly Thalia. Both men know how much I want to have my mate by my side. I sighed, "Let's hope that Rita knows what's going on," I said as I sat back in my chair. All three of us got back to work for the next three hours until there was a knock at the door and in walked Rita with Liam following right behind her. Rita sits next to Aaron while Liam sits in front of me; their faces don't give much away. "Well," I ask them as I look between both of them. Liam looks at his hands, but Rita opens her mouth, "Well, Rosa doesn't know where they are. They seem to be travelers," she says, "They have been traveling around a lot over the last three years." Not odd at all, but I look at Liam, who is still staring at his hands; something doesn't feel right. "Liam," I call him; he looks up at me. He sighs, "Alpha, I know that Rosa is lying to me, well to us, I could feel it through the mate bond," he says. I looked at him confused, "Why would she lie?" I asked. Liam shrugs and looks at me, "I do believe the girls travel around a lot, but they stayed there for five months before even introducing themselves to anyone. Rosa took them in as they were school friends. But," he says as he moves in his chair. He looks uncomfortable. Once he settled, "I think they are not human," he says suddenly. I look back at him confused; what the hell? "Liam, they had the scent of human on them," exclaims Aaron. But Liam shakes his head, "No, I mean they did when they came to the club, but when I met them at Rosa's house, they had a different scent," he says as he looks at me puzzled. "I don't know, it could have been all the perfume they sprayed, or something but the scent I smelt when I went in was sweet, but when they went outside, they just smelt like any normal humans. It is weird to explain." "It must have been the perfume," says Rita, but Liam doesn't look convinced. "Will Rosa find out where they have gone to?" I asked. Liam looks at me and c***s his head to the side, "Alpha, may I ask why?" He asks. I sigh and stare back at him, "I found out that the girl I was with is my mate," I say, and Dan looks at me. "Same with the girl I was with." Liam smiles, "I think we should bring Rosa here and tell her all about our kind; maybe she will help us more if she understands more about the whole mate thing," he says. That might be the best idea we have at the moment. "Okay, bring Rosa here. You can tell her about us, and we will go from there," I said to him. I need to find my mate.
