The strong knock at the door resounded in the house. Both girls sat at the counter having finished up the dinner they prepared. Katelyn was used to ordering delivery with Kai, since neither really liked to make food. Katelyn’s mom worked double shifts after her father died, so Katelyn didn’t strive to learn much beyond a simple sandwich. Kai’s mother attempted a few times to spark her interest, but Kai seemed to find the task simply…boring.   It was strange being with Ari who always cooked her meals. Katelyn enjoyed them, for sure, but it was just something to get used to.
