*ZAILA
"I'm so excited to go back home for a while, sissy. I miss the Phoenix family." Naomi Maddison 'Bubble' Jones exclaimed happily through our communication device that had been attached to our helmet. It helps us to communicate in this situation. We're on the highway, riding our Harley motorcycles toward our home. We've been traveling for almost two hours now, and we still have an hour to reach our destination.
"Me too, Maddie. We need this short vacation because once we take this mission, I don't know when we can have a break again. We need to destroy those fvcking bastards once and for all," I answered with a promise that I would not leave my next assignment without giving justice to my parent's death and Allana's kidnapping. I also used Bubble's real nickname now that we are back in our everyday life.
Speaking of my new assignment, my Aunt agreed to have my team in the shadow of my 'solo' mission. Like she has a choice. She laughed when they called her the next day about it. Aunt Sav was expecting the call because she knew how attached they were to me.
We were also supposed to travel back home yesterday, but Josephine's Academy Mother's Superior called because Lizzy struggled to adjust to her new environment. She developed post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD after what happened, and her nightmares started to surface. The school psychotherapists are doing their best to help her. While her parents are still working on accepting her situation, they have a couple of counseling for this kind of case.
To assure Mother Superior, we visited Josephine's Academy and talked to Lizzy. Dr. Phoebe Annie 'Pinky' Lee will personally monitor her improvements and be her psychotherapist once a week too. I also spoke to her, giving her a promise to be there for her always. This kind of situation was the reason why we chose to take a part-time job in the academy if we didn't have a mission, to help the victims until they became more vital to fight their demons alone.
Forty-seven minutes later, we entered the town area of Nueva Vida, Arizona. Travelers can find the town between California and Arizona. Phoenix MC's place and where they settled after my birth parents gave Pop and his crew their new identities.
Nueva Vida or New Life in English is the place my family called home for 33 years. The money they took from not-so-legal jobs they did in the past helped them build their home until it expanded when a few families asked Phoenix MC permission and protection to settle new lives in the area.
From thirty-two people turned into two thousand plus residences three decades later. People keep coming here to have a new life, a new beginning, and a new purpose. Phoenix MC welcomes them as long as they follow the rules of the town.
For the sake of government standards, Pop assigned non-Phoenix to handle the legal matters, but seven years ago, one of my brothers took over the position of Town Mayor.
Mayor and Attorney Adrian 'Bullet' Wilde, 31 years old, the third son of our parents, is also a lawyer who handles all the legality of Phoenix MC businesses and investments. He is still single because he loves his work so much that wasting his time with a woman. Tsk. My brother is so picky, I tell you.
Hunter Thomas 'Reaper' Wilde, 34 years old, is my eldest brother and has been Phoenix MC President for almost eight years. He is married to a sweet and loving Nurse Brielle Wilde, 33 years old, and they have three children, Liara, Logan, and Levi.
Cooper 'Ice' Wilde, 32 years old, is my second brother and has been a Sheriff of the town for six years. He's married a beautiful teacher named Cresilda Wilde, and two children, Shaine and Cheska.
My fourth brother is the Phoenix weapon specialist and twins' partner in crime when it comes to craziness. He is the reason why the twins love the gun so much. Elijah 'Killer' Wilde, 29 years old, and ex-US Army, served four tours overseas before Pop demanded him to come home.
And being the Princess in the family, I grow up with five alpha males, from my Pop to my brothers. They don't see me as an assassin here, but as a baby sister that they love as I love them so much too.
Excitement runs into my body when we reach the outskirts of town, to the road of Phoenix MC private property. Glad to be home again after many months in mission after mission. No wonder my Pop keeps calling Aunt Sav; it has been a long time since I came home.
I feel the excitement coming from my sisters too. The way they sighed and giggled when we drove through the road of our home. Phoenix MC has become home to them ever since I took them here. Their sanctuary.
The tall white wall hides the beautiful place inside and separates the Phoenix MC property from the town. The clubhouse rooftop and guardhouses are the only visible on the outside. Behind the walls, Phoenix families are living peacefully in their cozy country cottage-style houses. We have our own home inside, too, a little far from the rest, but that's how we like it, especially for Lavender.
The prospects immediately opened the gate when they saw our bikes coming and us wearing Phoenix MC property cuts. We wear the property cuts before we enter the town so that everyone can recognize us as Phoenix MC members.
When we enter the property, another five minutes before we reach the clubhouse. Trees after trees until we reach the clearing where the six-floor clubhouse stands proudly; next to it is the two-floored building called Barn for Phoenix MC offices and function. They have a vast space on the right side of the clubhouse for the parking lot, while on the left side is an open space connected to the Barn. Then between the Clubhouse and Barn, there's a pathway toward the houses behind the two buildings. A small subdivision for all members of Phoenix MC.
I saw Momma waiting for us on the terrace of the clubhouse. Waving vigorously and excitement is visible on her face. A smile appears on my lips at my mom's antics. I love her so much.
Leandra Wilde, 57 years old and the Queen of Phoenix MC. She loves me like her own child, and I'm always grateful that I have her in my life.
Old ladies join Momma on the terrace, too. I have a feeling the prospect reported our arrival here; that's why they are eager to see us.
I stop my Harley in front of the clubhouse, and so do my sisters, and park next to mine.
"Our Princess, my baby is home!!!" Momma exclaimed as she walked towards me.
I climb down to my bike and meet my mom halfway. She immediately hugged me tight; I did the same and buried my face in the crook of her neck. Inhaling her scent, which I missed, reminded me that I was home.
"I missed you, Momma. Sorry, it took us so long to come home," I whispered.
She let go and cupped my face.
"It's okay, honey—all we need to know is that you are safe wherever you go. Your Pop is going to be thrilled that you are here now. So take a rest and get ready for his scolding later."
I gulp and only nod. My reaction made my mother laugh. The rest of the old ladies are laughing too. They knew how Pop scolded me; it was going to be non-stop.
"Come along, honey, and greet your Aunts. I have to welcome the rest of my babies." Momma rushes me her kisses before going to the rest of my sisters.
I start greeting my Aunts or the Phoenix old ladies. We are one big family here. I exchange a few short pleasantries with them before joining back to my mom and sisters. I immediately snake my arms into Momma's waist and hug her sideways.
"You ladies need to fatten again. All of you got thinner since the last time I saw you." Momma looked at our figures with a scowl marred on her face; she disapproved of what she saw.
We are not thin or anything, but Momma loves to cook, and she loves to see anyone with extra meat in their body. In our case, we lost a few pounds from our missions since most of our meals were past foods.
"Don't worry, Momma, with your delicious foods and proper rest; we will be fat in no time," Faith Therize 'Ash' Russo replied while winking at Momma.
We all agreed. Momma kisses my forehead and pats my arms softly, signing that I need to let her go, so I kiss her cheek before straightening.
"That's what I want to hear. Now, six of you need to rest in your house. Dinner in the Barn with Phoenix family." We all nod at Momma and watch her join the rest of the old ladies back in the clubhouse.
"Look who is back? Our badass Princess and five little ladies are home."
My brother's voice appeared behind me. I didn't hear him coming. Sneaky. It made me smirk. He's improving.
I turned around and tackled him. He almost lost his balance on my unexpected move but hugged me anyway.
"I missed you, Elijah," I whispered.
"I missed you too, Princess. Glad you are home," he whispered back. A memory appeared in my mind when we were younger in the same scenario. I grin.
Elijah uttered a few curses when I suddenly bite his shoulder before I unleash myself from him. My sisters giggle in his reaction, while the grin never leaves my lips.
"Damn it, Princess. Stop doing that. Your teeth will have a permanent imprint on my shoulder if you continue doing this. You are not a child anymore." My brother sends me a mock glare while massaging the area that got bitten.
I smirk.
"You're such a baby bro, take it like a grown-up. And I can't help it; your shoulder is soft and fatty. When was the last you hit the gym? Slacking while I'm gone? You need to go back to the gym more often to keep it solid."
It's a lie, though. My brother's physical appearance is far from soft and fatty, but I love teasing him.
He dramatically gasped and ran to catch me. I laugh and immediately run in our Mom's direction. I hide behind Momma and peek to see him; I smirk.
"Get back here, Princess. Let's take this to the ring." He exclaimed with his faux angry voice.
I scratched his ego. "Nah, I'm good. You can't even catch me. Do train first, bro!" I teasingly replied making everyone hear laughing.
My brother's face turned red, embarrassed. He walked fast in our way, but Momma stopped him.
"Ohh, you two started this again. Now Elijah, behave." Momma scolded us. "You too, Zaila."
Elijah sulked and turned back, heading towards my sister's side.
Momma pulls me from behind. "Take a rest, honey. I have a huge dinner to prepare for all of you, girls."
She kisses my cheek before continuing to walk inside the clubhouse. "Dinner in the Barn later, everyone."
I turned in my sister's direction and smiled when I saw Elijah talking to them, together with a few bikers the same age as ours. I wonder where are the older generation and the rest.
My brother came to my side and put his arms on my shoulders. He stated, "I will get you back for what you said."
I send him a smirk before removing myself from his lock. "You can try, bro."
After greeting our biker friends, I walk towards my bike to take my bag. "Lace, can you park my bike?" I asked Lace. Her face lightened when she heard me.
"Sure! Can I take it for a spin in the compound?" She asked with her hopeful voice.
I pretend to think about it and shrug.
"Just don't scratch my baby, and I have to test your skill tomorrow, with your sword."
She nods eagerly, so I throw my bike's key in her direction, and she immediately climbs on it. I shake my head and chuckle. I signaled my sister to follow me. They gave their keys to the rest of our friends after taking their bags on the bikes.
Our Harleys are more advanced than regular ones. It was a costume made by Ultor Organisation weapon specialists and inventors. They only make it look like a traditional bike, but you will be surprised by what they restore for us. Each of the bikes is only under our command, using our fingerprints to access the hidden features. Our friends love to borrow it for a while to experience a smooth ride. It is so silent and slick.
"We are going to our cabin, bro. Want to join us?" I asked my brother that now busy talking to Zarina Allyza 'Pen' Russo while his arm was around Lavender.
"Let's go?" he replied, pushing Lavender to start walking in our cabin's direction, so we did the same.
The cabin is located on the edge of the house, a little far from its neighbor. Phoenix bikers built the place before I took my sisters here. They were still terrified of men at that time, especially Lavender. It took my sisters months to start trusting MC when they realized how caring my families to them. I've been living with my sisters since then to make them comfortable, although from time to time I stay in my room in our house if my parents request it.
Phoenix MC is their family now too. The bikers are very protective of them as their children, and I know they will always be.
