***Damon’s POV***
“Ow...”
I freeze as the sweet smell of blood fills my senses.
“s**t, Damon do you have a band aid or something?”
I look over at her when the sight of her blood dripping from her fingertip catches my eye. Has it really been that long since I had anything to drink? I need to remain calm, but her blood is driving me crazy! It’s as if I’ve never had blood before, her blood smells sweeter than anything I’ve ever smelt. I would do anything for a taste.
“Damon?”
I hear her voice like its miles away, my eyes never leave her finger. I watch as the blood drips down onto the sand, such a waste…
“Damon? What’s going on with you?”
I can hear the panic rising in her voice but I just can’t bring myself out of this trance. Why am I acting like this? I usually have much better control of myself! I stay in this spot till I see her get up and start running from me.
She doesn’t know how much of a thrill she’s making this! I start to chase after her forgetting how I’m supposed to act human, I find my self running at an unnatural speed as I chase after her.
“MIDNIGHT” I scream her name, my voice dry from this unrelenting thirst.
I continue to chase her since she doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. I get close to her and reach out, when she stops dead in her tracks and screams.
“Get away from me!”
I watch in horror as the calm air turns into an angry storm the clouds darken and the air around her spins like a tornado. Her beautiful hair flying every which way. With a quick stretch of her hands all that powerful wind gets flung at me and I go flying. I try to dig my heels into the ground but there is no use. Even with all my super human strength I don’t stand a chance. I never thought she could be a witch… Lilac said nothing about witches in her blood line. But that is the only explanation for such control over the elements. She has to be extremely powerful for her to have this much power.
What will happen to her abilities when she turns? Does she even know that she has these powers? I need to talk to her; I need to be honest with her about what is happening. I slowly stand back up and carefully make my way towards her. She stays still obviously unsure of what is going on. I raise my hands into the air to show I don’t mean any harm.
“Midna?” I call out hesitantly.
“Stay back!” the air responds to her almost immediately.
“Midna, there’s nothing to be afraid of. I just want to talk.”
“NO!”
“Midnight just listen ok?”
“Why! Why should I?”
“Because I know what’s going on, I know the reason why your sick.”
“I don’t care! You’re not human! I can’t trust anything you say!”
“Your right I’m not, not anymore. But neither are you!”
“Of course, I am human!”
“No, you’re a witch, think about it!”
“Magic isn’t real!”
“Then how do you explain what just happened?”
“I don’t know! I just, it doesn’t make any sense!”
“I know, but right now you are my top priority ok? Your dying and I am trying to save you, I can make all your pain disappear, I can help you understand. You can get a fresh start on life and be yourself in a way where you won’t be judged for being different.”
“Your lying.”
“I’m not lying. I am a vampire. I have been sent to turn you. Someone in our world wants you to live and this is the only way.”
“Why is this the only way!? What’s going to happen to me, to my family? Will I ever be able to see my mother or brother again?”
“If they choose to accept you. the choice is ultimately yours, die an unfortunate death any day this week or let me turn you. You get a fresh start this way!”
“Just give me a second to think this over… please, it’s a lot to take in.”
“Take your time.”
***Midnights POV***
I can’t believe this is happening, I’m really dying… what will my brother say? Does he even know what’s going on? What am I going to do?
“Midna…”
I can’t focus, why am I dying? Should I even try? Do I deserve to live? I want nothing more than to see my family again all of us together. Dad, mom, Lilac, and Jason. Maybe if I die I could, maybe if I died I’d see dad…
“Midnight we don’t have much time…”
Fuck it what do I have to lose? Who knows if I’ll even survive the transformation?
“Is thereto a chance I could die?” I ask quietly.
“what do you mean?”
“If I let you turn me, is there a chance I could die?”
“Very slim. I won’t lie there is a possibility but it’s not very common.”
I stay silent. I have a high survival rate, but he still hasn’t told me why I’m dying. Is it cancer?
“Why am I dying? You said you knew.”
“Your becoming a witch, your body isn’t used to having so much power so it’s rejecting it. There is a possibility that your body will realize what is going on and stop fighting it off but the chance of that happening is one in a million. You are clearly a strong witch but your body is weak. If I turn you, your chance of survival goes up.”
“Alright, I’ll do it, I’ll become like you.”
“Alright. Where do you want this to happen? On the beach or in the car?”
“Beach, I want to be surrounded by the elements.”
“You sound just like a witch.”
“You said I was one, it only makes sense.”
“True enough.”
“So how are we doing this?”
“Sit down and stay calm. It will hurt for a second but it will fade away to a warm feeling. Whatever you do don’t fight me or use your magic.”
“Ok.”
I sit down on the blanket and close my eyes. I let the sound of the waves crashing on the beach sooth me. I feel the wind through my hair and smile slightly. Soon enough I feel Damon’s hands on my shoulder. He tilts my head to the side exposing more of my neck. I take a shaky breath in and let it out. I feel his breath on my neck and tense up.
“Relax Midna, it will be over quickly.” Damon’s voice came as a gentle whisper.
I released the tension and quickly felt pain in my neck. I wanted to scream but nothing came out. I could feel tears running down my cheek. But as he said the pain faded into a hot fire running through my veins. My entire body felt like it was on fire. The heat slowly dimmed into a warm glow. Like I was wrapped in a blanket by the fire drinking hot chocolate during a winter storm. I let the thought consume me as the sounds of the real world faded away.
***Damons POV***
“Alright, I’ll do it, I’ll become like you.”
I smiled, finally I could finish what I was sent to do an than I could go home.
“Alright. Where do you want this to happen? On the beach or in the car?”
“Beach, I want to be surrounded by the elements.”
“You sound just like a witch.” I laughed.
“You said I was one, it only makes sense.”
“True enough.”
“So how are we doing this?” she asked obviously unsure of how to continue.
“Sit down and stay calm. It will hurt for a second, but it will fade away to a warm feeling. Whatever you do don’t fight me or use your magic.”
“Ok.”
I watch as she sat down gracefully onto the blanket. I can’t wait till she turns; she will be such an amazing vampire. She closes her eyes and I take a step towards her. I watch her for a second noticing how calm and peaceful she looks. I take in my surroundings an realize the world has gone silent too the only thing to be heard is the waves crashing on the beach. I feel a slight breeze and notice how a smile appears on her face. I place my hands on her shoulders and tilt her head to the side exposing more of her neck. She takes a breath in and lets it out. I can hear her heart beating faster as I get closer.
“Relax Midna, it will be over quickly.” I whisper in her ear and she begins to calm down.
As soon as she calmed down I bit into her neck. The sweet taste of blood hit my tongue. It really wasn’t like anything I’ve ever had before. I took a quick sip than released my venom. As soon as I let go, I turned to face her. She had tears running down her cheeks. I continued to watch her and was relieved to see the painful look on her face fade. She looked so content at this point. It was clear she was no longer in pain and I couldn’t be happier. I gently pick her up and place her in my vehicle. This was going to be an interesting night. If she wakes up before we get to the school all hell will brake loose. Having a newly turned blood thirsty vampire locked in a car with the smell of humans around is a recipe for disaster.
