"Mr. Kim, back to the hospital," Daylan said to his secretary as he directly went inside the car.
"Hospital Sir?" Mr. Kim asked again, confused.
"I need to check on Mr. Feerch," he said
"Oh." Mr. Kim nodded.
He immediately entered the driver's seat and started the engine. Lighting up the light of the car as they traveled the dark road going back to the heart of the City.
"So Sir, how's the meeting?" Mr. Kim asked as the car traveled the road.
"Meeting?" Daylan frowned.
"I mean the talk, Sir." Mr. Kim smiled with a hint of silliness.
But Daylan doubted it and eyed him, "You knew Ms. Evenclaw was there right?"
Mr. Kim can't help but smile awkwardly, "Your mother said I should keep it a secret Sir until you arrive."
"What else did she request?" Daylan asked
Mr. Kim looked sideways, "N-Nothing anymore Sir." he said as he stare at the man by the driver's mirror.
"Mm..." Daylan nodded "...well if you say so. But when my confidence in you Mr. Kim lessens, maybe I can hire another one to----"
"I-I honestly don't know what it is Sir! I just know that the Madam's request is something related to the company." Mr. Kim blurted cutting Daylan short.
Daylan raised his brows and nodded.
He patted the man who's in sweat, "You're loyal to one master Mr. Kim. You know you'll always be my secretary." he said comforting him, grinning that he had won over him.
Mr. Kim shut his eyes, he promised the madam not to say anything to Daylan but he ended up doing the opposite as always, due to Daylan's playful manipulation.
They finally passed the dark road and reached the buzzing noise and night lights of the City. It took almost an hour of traveling but Daylan was already glad that they reached the hospital safely.
He fixed his coat and hair before going out of the car.
"I should wait here Sir." Mr. Kim said
Daylan nodded, "I'll just check up on Mr. Feerch."
He then strode forward ignoring the gasp and stares from the faculty and the people of the hospital. He fixed his tie again as he got near the familiar spot of the ward where he waited for Shino's mother to arrive, he quickly walked and stood by the hospital curtain covering the patient's bed.
He cleared his throat, "Mrs. Feerch? This is Daylan Jack from earlier." he said politely, expecting that Shino's already fine.
But no one answered and silence occupied the area.
"Mrs. Feerch?" he asked once again, trying not to peek at the hospital curtain.
"Young man. Are you searching for the young man who got admitted there earlier?" one elderly who's lying on the other corner of the ward spoke.
"Yes Sir," he replied
"They checked out the moment the young man recovered, I think it's about an hour ago," he said.
Daylan turned to open the curtain, confirming it himself, and immediately saw that the area was cleaned empty.
"They left," he uttered
"They're in a hurry and are maybe eating dinner at their house now." the old man spoke again while massaging his legs.
Daylan turned to him, "Thank you for the information Sir." he politely bowed.
The old man laughed in delight, "Such a fine young man. I thought you're quite arrogant because of your handsome looks and built but you got some nice attitude there buddy!"
He curved a smile, "I have a beautiful daughter named Shina, wanna meet her?" he asked Daylan boldly
Daylan just smiled, "Maybe next time Uncle."
"I shall take my leave then. Be well Uncle." Daylan said and the old man nodded, looking at the CEO'S back as he walked away.
The old man wondered, "How come the CEO brought himself here?"
He clicked his tongue, "He came two times already and the fact that he came even it's already past working hours.... Such a good man to check on his employee personally. I should text my daughter." he immediately took his cellphone by the side table.
"How was it, Sir?" Mr. Kim approached him.
Daylan shook his head, "They checked out." he said in confusion
Mr. Kim raised his brows, "Already? Did the young man recover? It's been merely three hours."
Mr. Kim and Daylan both entered the car again wondering why the two have left the hospital so urgently.
"Maybe Mr. Feerch has fully recovered," Daylan said loosening his tie once again
Mr. Kim nodded, "His mother looked so caring towards him that's why I think leaving the hospital is his mother's choice.
Daylan sighed from disappointment. He just wanted to check on Shino's condition before this day completely end but guess it's not necessary since his mother was already on his side.
The secretary started the engine as they rode off the road again, going to Daylan's home.
"Mr. Kim." the man called
"Yes Sir." Mr. Kim responded.
"Is there..." he paused, thinking if it's right to ask but continued, "If a person has the weird hobby of not looking people directly in their eyes, do you think there's some deep reason to it?"
Mr. Kim stared at his curious eyes on the driver's mirror and answered honestly, "I don't know that matter, Sir."
Daylan twitched "Right." he sighed and just leaned his back tirelessly on the car seat, staring at the window.
"But I've read this article about relating an eye to eye contact with interpersonal trauma." Mr. Kim suddenly said.
Daylan's eyes widened and immediately plunged to listen more to Mr. Kim.
"Go on, tell me about it."
"Sir, you can research it yourself." the secretary reminded
Daylan groaned, "I'm tired of reading. My eyes are already bulging from everyday reading. My ears are in the spotlight this time."
Mr. Kim laughed from his anticipation as if he'll story tell him some fairytale.
"It's only a random article I leisurely read. That article stated about how a person with Posttraumatic stress disorder affects his emotional stability in looking at people directly." He started
"I even remembered that people who have this disorder tend to have an occasional breakdown if the trauma is too severe that he can no longer take even a single glimpse on a person."
He continued, "It also concluded that compared to healthy individuals, direct gaze of people with PTSD leads to sustained activation of a subcortical route of eye-contact processing, an innate alarm system inside their head that causes them to shut down." he said as he is pointing on his head emphasizing that it's all about the head.
Daylan awed from the specific explanation, "I truly don't think that you're reading it for leisure! You've memorized the important details!"
Mr. Kim laughed, "Thank you Sir just doing my best to help you." he said smiling
"But if you say it that way, then Mr. Feerch has PTSD?" Daylan turned serious
"I will start the process of confirming that Sir." Mr. Kim said
Daylan raised his head to him, "Is there a need to?"
The secretary stared at him in the driver's mirror, "Because you're curious Sir." he replied
"Am I?" he frowned
Mr. Kim sighed.
"Either way, forget about it. We must not deal with others' issues. It does not scope our concern." He said that what an employer should do, privacy is privacy.
But his thoughts wandered on Shino's trembling expression.
Daylan accepted the fact that everyone had a weird habit of doing things but if there's a reason due to that young man's action, then he is quite curious.
He thought that Shino looked decent and kind, a person who can't even offend an insect but why is that?
He clicked his tongue in wonder.
