"Mom, I'm off," Shino called as he wore his shoes by the entrance.
"Be careful okay? The east side of the street is sloping upward, don't use your bike during that time and just walk." his mother yawned as he instruct his son.
It was still 4 a.m and Shino got himself prepared for the new job his mother got for him.
Delivering bottled milk door to door.
And because this service is in demand for nearby households, he must deliver it before 7 am just before they take breakfast thus, he must wake up at 3:30 for preparation and 4:00 at the exact time that he'll be off from their apartment.
"Yes, mom. I'm off!" he said and went out.
The service only scopes this area of the City but he still needs to get used to the specific addresses of the subscribed household. He immediately took this job because in this way, his contact with people is minimal and the wage is fairly enough for this kind of job.
He unchained his bike and rode it, the road was quiet and cold as the sun was just about to rise. He smiled in contentment, it has been two days since he resigned and he hasn't made contact with anyone in the company, from Mr. Pi to Willa and Veen... He doesn't have their numbers nor do they have his.
They might be confused at first but they'll forget about him later on.
That's how his life has been recent, he just comes and goes.
After getting the first batch of milks from the factory, he started his journey to find each resident listed on his note.
He went to different streets and placed the bottled milks on the bags hanging just outside the houses of subscribed clients.
He panted as he chased the time, the sun has already risen and the people had started appearing one by one on the road. His usual routine to stare at random objects had activated again, to avoid people.
It's 6:45 and he finished three batches of milk and got his daily pay.
"Thank you Sir!" he bowed in gratitude
"See you again tomorrow youngster." the man replied
He rode his bike back to the apartment but saw a stall selling sweet potatoes just by the side of the park he's in. His mother liked potatoes and so as he, he stopped for a while to buy some.
"Three please," he said when he reached the stall.
"OH." the person beside him made a surprise sound
Shino just silently waited on his order thinking that he has nothing to do with the man beside him.
"OH!" the person made a louder sound of surprise.
He ignored it once again. He didn't know anyone in this area and he believes no one is familiar with him.
"Sir...." another voice came calling the person beside him.
Shino frowned, the voices and this scene are quite familiar.
But he just shrugged it off and took his order
"Thank you," he said and paid it.
He turned back to ride on his bike and started pedaling without minding other things. Not glancing nor glimpsing behind.
"He didn't look back." Daylan was frozen as he stare at Shino's figure riding his bike away.
"Sir, you must know it better." Mr. Kim reminded
"And what are you gonna do with these sweet potatoes?" he asked gesturing to the dozens of hot sweet potatoes he ordered.
Daylan smiled widely, "Gonna give our employees each!" he said.
Mr. Kim sighed, just as he thought. They were on their way to the company but Daylan wanted to be early this day and saw this stall.
"But strange do you think Mr. Kim? He's working already?" Daylan said while staring at the car window least expecting to see Shino.
"It's only him and his mother so I think he needed to." Mr. Kim replied while driving towards the building.
"But, don't you think that wages on being a deliverer on milks are lower than those on working counters?" Daylan pondered
"How did you know he's a deliverer of milk?" Mr. Kim asked
"Well, his shirt and bike tell me so and he reeks the scent of fresh milk," Daylan said
"You're naturally an observer no wonder your mother is too specific on choosing a decent woman for you." Mr. Kim uttered
"What did you say?" Daylan asked
Mr. Kim cleared his throat, "Nothing Sir."
He continued and remembered something, "The office for Document Reviewing has been opened again, Sir."
Daylan finally turned to him confused, "I didn't know that."
"Your mother requested for it, Sir."
Daylan frowned, "And why would she do that? That office isn't no use and its function was not helpful." he said
"But she already requested it to the Council Sir."
"But why didn't she tell me?"
"She was about to but you left the dinner." Mr. Kim replied referring to the dinner with Ms. Evenclaw.
Daylan laughed, "Mother has something in mind isn't she?"
Mr. Kim decided to seal off his mouth avoiding a slip of the tongue which he usually does when talking to the CEO.
"I don't know much Sir," he said in conserve words.
Daylan crossed his arms and grinned, "I'll review the process of reopening this office."
Mr. Kim glanced at him by the car mirror, "Immediately Sir."
They reached the building and strode off towards the topmost floor.
"Sir." Mr. Kim gave the folder of the documents in reopening the Office of Document Reviewing.
Daylan read it carefully and entered the small compact room for the office just right beside the CEO'S room.
The small storage room brightened and emptied. With a table and chair at the center and empty shelves beside.
The Office of the Document Reviewing was just an extra room to ease the burden of the CEO'S workloads. They review the papers and arrange them more carefully before sending them to the CEO even if he's not around, the office can handle the process and disseminate them to every department.
But the thing is, they could only handle those in general documents but cannot touch those for exclusives, some papers will still fall directly to the CEO.
They work in an extra function that's why this office was closed because the council finds it insignificant.
"Just what is the reason Mom is reopening it?" Daylan frowned.
Mr. Kim didn't reply.
"Has she assigned someone here Mr. Kim?" Daylan pondered seeing that the official document seemed to have someone in hiring.
Mr. Kim completely shut himself down.
"Mr. Kim?" he turned to his secretary and saw that he's in trouble for not telling the truth. He grinned.
"Oh, I am very troubled. I, the CEO don't know about this kind of event! Me, the CEO." he laughed, pitying himself.
"Maybe, I'm not the real CEO since my Father has just retired recently so it's okay to keep things from me," he said, his tone lowered
"That's not it Sir." Mr. Kim immediately refuted.
But Daylan continued to pretend to be pitiful.
"Sir." Mr. Kim finally sighed.
"Mrs. Jack..." he gave up which made Daylan turn to him in delight "...has reopened this office for someone."
Daylan nodded, "Thank you for the information, Mr. Kim! I can fully grasp it now."
Mr. Kim just stared at the young man who surveyed the room.
"This office... Will only receive documents right?" he asked
"Yes Sir." Mr. Kim replied
"And won't much interact with people?" Daylan asked again as he check the window.
"I guess so Sir." Mr. Kim replied, confused by his questions.
"So then," Daylan turned to Mr. Kim
"...my mother reopened this office without my knowledge then, as a recompensation of my hurt feelings, I should be the one to assign a person here," Daylan said in all delight
"W-What?" Mr. Kim twitched having himself stuck between the whims of Mother and Son.
