After signing the papers with Marcus, I went to the entrance hall with Cole and Rafe and waited patiently for Marcus to deliver Elena to me. However, it became clear that Marcus couldn’t handle the task of delivering her without losing control. Once again, he disrespected me by leaving me waiting at the entrance. Though he assured me someone would bring her to me, it was still an insult toward me not to stay until I had departed.
A few minutes later, I heard her voice echoing down the hall. Elena had regained consciousness, which surprised me given the severity of her beating. Yet, I knew she was a fighter. Her strength was something I couldn’t help but admire.
