It was late in the evening when the couples went back to the palace. The Maxwells and the Callaways went into their respective rooms immediately upon arrival. It was a night of fun. They enjoyed the show and the company of each other. However, it was late when the show ended, and the ladies were exhausted and sleepy. Therefore, they decided to let pass a nightcap.
Alik tried hard to be cheerful the whole night. He avoided as much as possible anyone noticing his disconcerting thoughts. He wanted no one to know about it until he could find answers to his questions.
