DANIELA’S POINT OF VIEW

I slept too early last night because I want to be sure that I have enough energy on my first day at work. I need to make a good impression, so they won’t underestimate me for getting the job with the help of Aunt Ellaine. I arrived at Smith Corp. earlier than expected because there wasn’t any traffic on my way here. I parked my car and immediately head to the elevator. I felt strange because it seems as though the people I walk passed by are looking at me, as if I’m a predator of some sort, and ironically as I walk along the corridor someone caught my eye.

What the hell is he doing here? Of all times and places, it’s here and now? Great. But because I don’t want him to see me, I ran towards the elevator and as soon as it closed, I heaved a deep sigh of relief. “That was close, good thing he didn’t see me” I pressed the topmost floor, which is the CEO’s office and when the elevator opened, I immediately saw Aunt Ellaine preparing some stuff.

“Good morning Aunt Ellaine” I greet her as I step out of the elevator.

“Wow Daniela, you’re way too early but that’s good because Mr. Smith is already on his was as we speak, he just arrived too. Now, let us start with the orientation” She wasn’t kidding when told me that she’d give me an orientation of what she does and her job isn’t easy at all but I like a challenge. She gave me a tour of the entire floor which is solely just the CEO’s floor. It has a kitchen, receiving/waiting area for guests and those who have appointments, a room filled with folders and envelopes containing important files, and of course the CEO’s office, but of course we weren’t able to get inside because the CEO isn’t here yet. After the tour and orientation, we sat and talked while waiting for Mr. Smith to arrive.

“So auntie, what time does Mr. Smith arrive?”

“He’ll be here at about … now” she said while looking at her wrist watch and when said ‘now’ the elevator opened and revealed someone unexpected. You have got to be kidding me. My jaw dropped; I can’t believe this is actually happening.

“Auntie, are you he’s your boss?” I stood up and whispered to her ear and as a response, she nods her head. I was expecting someone old! Not this guy I slept with a few weeks back.

“Good morning ladies! Ellaine, is this her?” She greets us looks at me with a smirk while talking to Aunt Ellaine.

“Good Morning sir, I’m Daniela Fox and I’ll be taking over Miss Ellaine’s from today until she gets back” I said trying hard to sound so casual but deep inside I just want to run towards the elevator and head home. Can’t the ground swallow me right now?

“I’m pleased to meet you, Miss Daniela. I expect that you’re done with the orientation, Ellaine? And I hope that you, Miss Daniela, is as diligent as how your aunt described you.” he said while still looking at me intently. I feel like I’m going to melt.

“I’m looking forward to working with you, Mr. Smith” I said as I bowed my head as a sign of respect towards him and he laughed a little.

“Jut call me Nate, Mr. Smith is my dad and I’m not that old yet, aren’t I? Anyways, I’ll be in my office, I’ll press the buzzer or call if I need you.” he keeps smirking at me and it’s making me feel uncomfortable.

As soon as he got inside his office, I let out a sigh of relief. I’m glad that’s over.

“You seemed a bit tense Daniela. Just calm down, okay? Sir. Nate’s a nice boss. I’ll be heading out now, but I’ll be back later to check on you. Do your best!” After saying that she left. Okay, I don’t know how to act anymore. This is going to be so f*****g awkward. He’s the man that got me and now he‘s my freaking boss! I thought that the boss would be an old man. Pull yourself together Daniela, just act normal and stop thinking about the night you spent with him and how hot he was. He’s a normal human being and he won’t harm or rape you unless you want --. Why the f**k am I thinking that he wants to f**k me again? Stop it, self. I heaved yet again another sigh and sat on my table and started compiling documents and scheduling Nate’s appointments. He’s one busy guy alright.

NATHANIEL’S POINT OF VIEW

For the past few nights, I haven’t been able to sleep well. I still keep on thinking about Daniela, I tried to look her her up online, but I don’t know her full name and I don’t know what to do. s**t, I’m going crazy. Calm yourself, Nate you’ll find her. I shake my scratch my head in frustration, but life goes on, I hopped out of bed and showered to start my day.

When I arrived at the office, everyone greeted me good morning and I nodded with a smile as a response. I was about to make my way to the elevator when I saw someone familiar.

“Nathaniel Smith!”

“Gio Takano!” I responded as soon as he called out to me. He’s my cousin; his mom is my dad’s sister and he’s half Japanese.

“I thought you were in Australia?” Gio said as we did a bro hug.

“Dad made me come back to take over the company for good cause he said he wants to retire.” I explained while shrugging.

“How long have you been back? And you didn’t call me bro, that’s so unfair! We could have had tons of fun with some hotties at Robi’s bar!”

“Actually, I was there a few weeks ago and I was supposed to call you but something unexpected happened.” I explained although I don’t want to share with him the details because he’s a douche by nature.

“You got laid?” he asked me with a smirk.

“HAHAHAH! Dumbass, what else would you expect? No one can resist us!” I cockily said “but on a serious note bro, I met this girl and I don’t why or how but I can’t get her off my mind” I added and I started to look bothered.

“Bro, that’s so gay! I can’t imagine you, the Nathaniel Smith, settling down? Hahahaha Impossible!” he laughed out loud with tears slightly coming out of his eyes.

“Am I really that unbelievable for you to laugh at me like that? I’m serious bro, really serious” I said as I slightly hit his shoulder with my knuckles.

“Whatever you say Mister Casanova. Hahahahaha” He mockingly said while still laughing out loud.

“You’re suck a jerk bro, anyway, I have to go. My new secretary is waiting for me” I said, and I make my way to the elevator and soon as the elevator opened, Eureka! The search is over.

I can’t stop myself from smiling like an i***t. I can’t believe that she’s here and working for me. Personally, I’d rather just have her stay here in my office so I could stare at her all day and get to know her better but that won’t be of use to the company.

There aren’t heavy jobs for Daniela since all the stuff that secretaries do is schedule appointments and stuff. Nothing more, nothings less; but there is one thing I have in mind but that’s not for business hours unless she would want to.

My train of thoughts was put to a halt when my phone rang, and it was my dad.

“Hey Pops, what’s up?” I asked

“We need to talk” he said sternly, I can’t help but worry

“Sure, I don’t have much to do just drop by the office” I said but he refused

“No, meet me at the Start Cafe, now” this must really be a serious matter that he wouldn’t want us to discuss it here in the office.

“Got, I’ll be there in five minutes” with that, I ended the call and fixed my stuff.

I pressed the intercom and told Daniela to cancel all my appointments for the rest of the day and she can go home once office hours are done.

Something must be up because the way dad spoke to me on the phone, it must be something urgent.
