Chapter 7

2027 Words
Reign's POV I had spent most of the day trying to avoid Landrey. It wasn't because I didn't want to see her, no I wanted to see her so bad and I wanted to piss her off to see that angry look on her face that was so damn cute and watch her face flush red in frustration. I just didn't want to come off as desperate and I didn't want anyone to notice my new obsession with her. Maybe if I just slept with her, it would get it out of my system. I could just imagine her under me and squirming and making the sexiest noises. I knew I was kidding myself as I thought that one time with her would be enough but I had to try. She wasn't the type of girl that would just be happy to be my wife. No, I'm sure she wants a pile of kids and everything that goes with it and I'm just not willing. I was walking through the hotel when I spotted all of them at the pool. I stopped and started staring as she looked f*****g amazing in that yellow swim suit. I wanted to walk out there and untie that from around her neck and bury my face in her t**s. They weren't huge but they were round and perky and perfect for my hands. I had to walk away and I really needed to get this girl out of my system. My obsession was only growing more intense by the minute. I distracted myself by helping get things set up for the evening. There were a few fires that needed to be put out throughout the day. Like the ice sculpture that got brought in was melting and they panicked but I had them move it into one of the restaurants freezers, we also had a late delivery and that was a little more urgent as it was food for tonight and they needed to start cooking it but one angry phone call later and it would be here fifteen minutes. I finally went up to my room to grab a quick shower and get ready. We didn't have suites here like we did at our other hotel but we wouldn't be spending as much time here either. It did however have a basement here. Identical to the other one. Wolf was going to be heading up security at this hotel. He knew how we liked everything, ran and with Jordan and Jake back at the other hotel Wolf jumped all over moving. It took me longer to get ready than I expected but I shaved and I wanted my hair to be perfect and it wasn't cooperating with me. Then I had to put a damn tux on and that was always a process in itself. So many pieces. I tried to get them to go in suits but they said we should keep it the same as the last opening and to make it fancy because people liked getting dressed up. I would rather wear jeans and a t-shirt. I went back down to the main entrance just as the first people were coming into the hotel. I hated this part; I would much rather be alone or with just a few people. I knew this was about business and looking good for the community and so I put on my best smile and helped greet people. After the majority of people had come in, Jordan spotted me and came over. He had a drink in his hand and looked happy to be here. "Where have you been this past week?" he asked and I looked to the gym looking to see Landrey but I didn't see her. "Just getting things ready for here." I told him but the look on his face told me otherwise and then he looked to the gym as well and that's when Landrey walked out of the back and she about took my breath away. The dress fit her like a glove and she had her hair curled and whatever she had done with her eyes they popped and I was lost in them. "Wow I didn't know that Landrey cleaned up so well. She always seemed like the girl next door. Sweet and innocent and tonight, wow," he said and I wanted to punch him in the face but I had to keep it cool. "I hadn't noticed until you said something but she does look good." I told him. "I think I will go talk to her," he said as he chugged his beer and walked off. I wasn't about to let him near her without me. I've seen how easily he can charm a girl and I wasn't about to let that happen. I quickly caught up to him "What do you want to shoot your shot too?" he asked. "Maybe, got a problem with that?" "Nope, I just need to know what type of competition I'm up against." he said laughing and then opened the door to the gym and we both beelined it to Landrey. "How is the opening for the gym going?" Jordan asked her as soon as we got up to her. "Great. There have been a lot of questions and a lot of people have signed up for memberships." "That's because they have the most beautiful girl here asking them if they want to," he said and her face flushed and my words wouldn't come to me. Instead of making a fool of myself I just walked away and pretended to look at all the equipment. I don't know what the hell was going on. I had never been like this. I never had a problem competing for girls. It wasn't the first time that he and I went head-to-head for a girl but they were just for the night and this one was different. I knew no matter how many times I told myself I just had to get her out of my system, it wouldn’t be enough. I heard her start laughing and I had to get out of here while Jordan put the moves on her. I started to storm out of the gym, when I heard her voice. "Reign, where are you going?" "I have to work. I'm not here for a good time. It would do you both well to remember that," I snapped at them and finished storming out of the gym. I went straight to the ballroom where dinner was being held and there was an open bar and ordered my favorite drink. Whiskey neat. I chugged the first one and had him refill my glass before I walked off. I walked around the ballroom for a while and as everyone had a look around, they made their way in here and before I knew it was clear full and I was having stupid conversations about things I didn't care about with people who thought they knew but didn't. When it was time for everyone to sit down and eat, we had our own table at the front for all four of us and our wives and Preslee. She was the only kid allowed down here. She would go back up and join the babies after a while with her Uncle Michael, Ellie's brother. Just as I was about to sit down at the table I was tapped on the shoulder and turned to see bright red hair. f*****g Tabitha. I knew she was a clinger. I sighed "what are you doing here?" "I wanted to surprise you." she said and smiled at me but I was less than impressed. I grabbed her arm and marched her straight out of the ball room but of course not before we passed Landrey who just looked like she had seen a ghost. This night kept getting better and better. "You were not invited. How did you even get in?" I snapped at her. "I talked my way in. I wanted to surprise you. We had such a great time the other night, I thought maybe we could have a repeat." "I've already told you; this isn't going to happen. Now get out of here," I said and then turned and walked back into the ballroom. When I got to the door, I turned to see her storming off towards the lobby. I turned around and went right back to my table and sat down. Ace leaned over to me, "who in the hell was that?" he whispered. "A stage five clinger. I don't know who let her in but I will find out later and rip them a new asshole." I whispered back and he started laughing loudly which got the attention of everyone else. I made it through dinner without much more conversation. I just enjoyed the food and ignored everyone else. Once the table was cleared, I looked around and people were starting to mingle and dance and that's when I saw Landrey dancing with Jordan laughing. I waited until the song was about over and then got up and headed to the dance floor. I got to them just as the song ended and they broke apart. "Thank you for the dance," he told her and placed a kiss on her cheek and she blushed from it. "May I?" I asked, holding my hand out and she just c****d her eyebrow and looked at me like I had grown an extra head. "I guess," she finally said and placed her hand in mine. It was so small and dainty looking in mine. "Are you enjoying yourself tonight?" I asked. "Yes, how about you?" "I'm not a really big fan of these types of things. Too many people for me." "I figured with your favorite waitress here you would be preoccupied with her." she said, sounding almost a little hurt. "I'm dancing with my favorite waitress," I leaned in and whispered in her ear and I heard her gasp but when I pulled back, I saw bruises on her arm and what looked like makeup to cover it. "You must be mistaken I'm not tall and I sure as s**t not a redhead." "How did you get that bruise," I asked, ignoring what she had just said to me. "I don't know, I bruise easily," she said and the longer I stared at it the more I could see it and it was just some random bruise. The song ended and I grabbed her hand and led her off the dance floor and out of the ballroom. "Where are we going?" "I want a better look at your arm." I growled now pissed off that someone had hurt her. She jerked her hand out of mine and stopped walking. "Reign it is none of your business how I got this bruise, now drop it. For once I was having a nice time with you." she said and I ground my molars together wanting to do something about it but right now wasn't the time. I will figure this out tomorrow. "OK, let's get a drink. What would you like?" "White wine please," she said and we turned and walked back to the ballroom and as much as I wanted to grab her hand I didn't. I went and got our drinks and we had a nice conversation about the hotel and when I saw her face light up to a song that came on, I grabbed her hand and led her back to the dance floor. I started to swing us around and I watched her face just glow with happiness and as much as I hated parties like these, I loved watching her smile and it made my entire night and when the song ended, she surprised me and leaned in and kissed my cheek. "Thank you for a wonderful evening." she said and I was going to make a move and kiss her but I watched the happiness drain from her face and she turned white as a ghost. "I'm sorry, I have to leave," she rushed out and then took off running leaving me very confused.
