Chapter 3

Reign's POV Saturday nights I usually went to the club with Jordan but I didn't feel like it this time. After we killed those men last night, I was still wound a little tight from it and just needed something different. I hadn't been to Mo's bar forever. I used to go there to get away from the other guys. I decided to go there. I pulled into the parking lot and it was packed full. This place used to be somewhere you could go to unwind and have a few drinks and just listen to people talk but it had been so long since I had been here and I guess it had changed. I parked my car in the back so no one would scratch it or ding it with their door and headed inside. I scanned the room and found a little table for two empty in the back corner and headed straight there. By the time I sat down a tall skinny redhead was standing there. "Hey handsome, what can I get for you?" she purred. I looked her up and down and I could easily take her home tonight. Well back to her place or the hotel. Never my house. "Well Tabitha, I want your top shelf whiskey, neat," I told her as I double checked her name tag on her shirt. She smiled, turned and wiggled her ass as she walked away. The bar had changed so much. Made me wonder if someone else had bought it or Jack retired. It now had loud music and smelled like stale booze and the age range of people had changed. The music wasn't half bad but all the people here were annoying. I could use a few less. Bright red hair caught attention and I watched as she walked back over here sticking her big fake t**s out. I just smirked at her and when she got to my table, she placed my whiskey down and leaned down placing her arms on the table and giving a full view down her shirt. When my eyes finally trailed up to her face she was smiling. "What's your name handsome?" "Reign." "Like a king who sits and reigns his country." "Yes, and trust me baby, I have my own kingdom." "You got yourself a queen?" she purred and I had to chuckle at that. "Not right now," I told her as I looked down her shirt again. I was only human after all and I liked what I saw. "Maybe we can change that for the night." she whispered this time. "Maybe we can," I told her and she leaned in and kissed my cheek and whispered "I'm off at one, wait for me," and then she stood up and left my table and was sure to wiggle her ass again. I looked around the bar just taking everyone in and that's when I noticed someone I knew. It took me a minute to figure out who it was and I was a little surprised to see her working here. It was Landrey. She worked the front desk at the gym at the hotel. Ellie had hired her. The girls had all met her at some bridal shop and rescued her somehow there. I tend to tune them out sometimes. She looked different tonight. She didn't have that good girl across the street look that she normally did at the hotel. Tonight, she had on short as f**k shorts and a top that matched Tabitha's although Landrey didn't fill it out like Tabitha did, she still looked good in it. She had on more makeup and her bright blue eyes popped more and I had never paid that much attention to her but her ass looks amazing. I spent my night watching her and Tabitha. Tabitha was hot and I totally planned on spending the night with her but for some reason I couldn't take my eyes off Landrey either. She never did see me but I totally saw her all night and I was seeing her in a different light. I waited until Tabitha was off and then settled my tab and walked her out to my car. I went to open her door for her and grabbed my shirt and yanked me to her and started kissing me. I pushed her against the car and took over the kiss. When we broke apart, we were both panting for air and I was hard and ready to do this now. "Where do you live?" I asked. "Let's go back to your place." she whispered. I pulled the door open and she slid into the front seat and I went and got into the car. She wouldn't go back to my house but we could go back to the hotel. I wouldn't even use my suite, just get us a room. That way when she fell asleep, I could leave. She would be a one and done. "Why are we at a hotel?" she whined as I pulled in. "Because I own it." I told her and you could see her eyes light up. I woke up before her the next morning. I didn't mean to fall asleep but we had gone more than one round and f**k she was a good lay but still only going to be a one-time thing. I slipped my clothes back on and slipped out of the room. She didn't even stir in the bed when I opened the door. I went up to my suite and took a shower and crawled into the bed and passed back out. When I woke up it was Sunday afternoon and I was supposed to meet Ace in a few hours. Berkley had started this whole new let's have dinner every Sunday thing. It was just us and once a month she has been inviting everyone over. Today however would just be us. I grabbed some clothes and got dressed and left the hotel and headed straight home and then walked over to their house. I never knocked here and when I went inside Daisy came running and threw her little arms around my legs. I picked her up and threw her up in the air making her laugh. "She just had a big cup of milk. She is going to puke on you and then you are going to clean that s**t up because her brother does enough of that." Ace said. I quickly put her down and she ran off to play. "I'm not cleaning any puke." I told him and he started laughing. "How is my nephew?" "He's growing like a weed." Ace said. We walked into their living room and Daisy was on the floor playing with her dolls and Asher was his swing. He was getting huge. He looked just like Ace and was going to be a big boy. He is three months old now. "Reign, you made it," Berkley said. "Don't I always. Plus, your cooking is fabulous." "I'm glad that you like it but tonight Ace cooked. Well, he grilled some chicken." "I'm sure it will be dry and over cooked then," I said and looked at my brother who just glared at me. "One time I over cooked chicken and you won't let me live it down. I don't cook that much but I'm learning." "Are you bringing a date to the opening?" Berkley asked. The grand opening of the new hotel was in two weeks. I hadn't thought about a date or even really about the opening. "Probably not." "What? You should bring someone," Berkley said. "No, you see if I go single, I can take home whoever I want that night. Leave my options open." I told her and Ace tried to shut her up after that but she just ignored him. "We just need to find you a nice girl. Someone who will brighten your day." Berkley said and I as much as I hated to even think about it because I didn't want to go back down the road, she has been the only one to ever do that. I pushed those thoughts away and we got up to go eat dinner. Dinner went like every Sunday. We talked about our week and Daisy made an absolute mess of her food and Berkley ran off to give her a bath and left me with Ace and Asher. We talked about work and anything else. It was nice because we had developed a closer relationship than we've ever had. He has become one of my closest friends since he got sober. There are still so many things that he didn't know about our father and he never would. Things were never good between them and to say my father didn't want him was an understatement. I covered for him so many times so our father would not go after him and there was even one occasion that he was going to kill him. He had his gun in his hand and headed to his bedroom. Luckily Ace wasn't there and I knocked my father over the head with a vase. He fell to the floor unconscious. I took the gun cleaned up the mess and pulled him to the stairs and pushed him down them. When he woke up, I was standing there acting all concerned and had already sent Ace to bed. He was confused and I convinced him that he was running down the stairs looking for me and tripped and fell. I don't know if he really believed me or if he just hurt too much to do anything and by the time he felt better he had moved on to other things. After I left Ace's house that night, I went to my home office and pulled the whiskey out of the drawer and chugged a bunch down. I wasn't an alcoholic. I like to unwind at the end of the week with a few drinks and anytime I thought about my father I would need one because he still pissed me off but other than that I didn't drink. When I woke up the next morning it was early and I headed to the hotel. I had some paperwork to do and needed to get it done before our meeting and I wanted to run Mason through the credit system to see if there were any hits on his cards. I had also set up a camera outside of his old restaurant but there has been no movement around it at all except for some dumb kids trying to vandalize it. Once I had done the paperwork and ran Mason through our system, I was going to go get some breakfast but my office door opened up and Tate walked in with Weslee. "What's going on?" I asked. "We were going to see if you wanted some breakfast?" he said. "It's like you read my mind. I headed downstairs to get some." "Great. This guy thinks he is starving to death." "Why do you have him up here so early?" "Ellie is meeting with all of her employees about the grand opening." Tate said and that brought my mind to Landrey. I hadn't thought about her since watching her work on Saturday night. "Are they all coming?" "I think so. She is so soft on them but I know that she wants them to help with any questions as the new staff is still learning." We headed down to breakfast and as we walked past the gym, I was kind of hoping to sneak a peek at Landrey and see if maybe I was just imagining things the other night but they weren't out in the open so I wasn't able to see her. I would have to take a better look when I went down to work out later.
