Chapter 5
Matilda Vaughn POV
■■■
My throat felt dry, and I felt the cold water splash against my face..
Yet, my eyes felt a heaviness as I tried to open them.
And I heard a footstep approach, but a deep voice held a warning.
“Non toccare”
(Do not touch)
I licked my dry lips as I tried to blink my eyes open again
But the lightness made me shriek..
A groan escaped my throat.
My head felt heavy, like it was still spinning around..
And my whole body felt numb,
I couldn't sense my legs or my hands
I felt like I was away from my body.
“Open your eyes, Ms. Vaughn”
I heard someone's presence in front of me.
The shadow that fell over my face, someone felt more comforting than those bright eyes
And I slowly opened my eyes.
“Leo, go call King”
I blinked twice, and I noticed that. The man who was at the door left in a second
Everything felt dark, like a blurred vision.
“Hello.
My name is Sevas.”
The man who stood in front of me smiled.
And I let out a dry gasp..
“Do you want some water?”
He asked as he lifted a bottle.
And I nodded.
He took a step in front as he bought the bottle to my lips
And I stretched my neck muscles, gulping the water down
That's when I tried to move my hand but..
He stepped back.
And my eyes looked down at me, realizing I was being held
My hands were tied behind , chained. I could hear the metal cling as I tried to move, but couldn't sense my body at all
And there wasn't a shoe on my left leg.
I was kidnapped
And the man who just made me drink water ,is my kidnapper..
The thought made me ,sacred
But I wanted to avoid showing any weakness, not in front of these strangers.
God knows if they own any mercy at me
So I remained silence
“Sevas”
I took the person's name with a pain in my voice
I am not confident how long I was out…
But my eyes were failing to stay open
I hated the weakness,
I preferred not to fall asleep
Maybe they had me drugged
“I don't have money.
Well, I have some in my savings.
You can have it.
I will not tell a word to anyone.
Tonight is my prom.
Let me go.
Please”
I tried.
I tried to do the smart thing instead of screaming or crying for help,
Which could make them angry and have it get unleashed on me.
Knowing no one in the room looks like they will hold any mercy for me if I tried brave here
And I wasn't even sure where I was, the room was dark
Except for the table lamp which was in front of me..
There was a table..
And the chair was empty on the other end
But sevas stayed standing ,like it was meant for someone else
The person who had just left, walked back
“King is here” He muttered, and I heard the footsteps
That moved aside, like a March back
That's when I Realized there are other men outside the room
The fumbled footsteps
If I could take a wild guess, I would at least ten men
And Sevas, stood aside
Ignoring my words
Or my offer
And I swallowed the anticipation, as the door opened..
A man rushed in, as he spread a white cloth on the table
He lit a candle
A scented one ,that filled my nostrils
And he placed the blueberry pie
Dropping the milk chocolate covers on the table..
And my eyes widened
Everything felt so familiar,
I looked up to see what they were trying to do
But the guy rushed back..
My eyes stared at the door..
Anticipating
“Hendrick”
I took the stranger's name who I had met at the Café
The last customer I served..
“How is the surprise?”
His voice sounded rich, deep
He moved his lips effortlessly..
I wanted to scream at the sight of him
But he walked in, his eyes staring at mine as he settled down..
King..
That's what they referred him as..
And his hand went to his pocket
He placed a crumbled card
“Your mine”
The card was torn and it looked dirty.
But he didn't seem to mind as he placed it, so I could read it
“Blind date”
I looked back at him, as I heard him speak
“What else do they do on dates, Leo?”
He questioned, but never took his eyes off me
I wanted to scream at the nonsense he had me on
He had told me he was looking for a date when he showed up at the Café I worked
But who knew the date was me?
Who the hell is he?
“I'm not that aware, sir.
I guess, have a drink or something”
The guy who stood at the door answered, standing still
His name was Leo.
My eyes went at sevas who stood quiet
He looked older, older than Hendrick
“Good girls don't drink, Leo”
Hendrick's lips curled up as he crossed his arm
“What do you want?”
I questioned.
My voice low
And I was terrified
But I held a mask of a wolf to stay still
Not showing my fear
Hearing my question, he smiled..
A full smile ,that showed the wrinkles around his eyes
And it was dark green in color, in the dim light
“You”
He answered, blatantly
His face showing no other ounce of emotion
“I..
Don't understand”
I Gritted out
My patience ripped away, and I felt frustrated as I tried to pull my hands free.
Even though I knew it was effortless
“You will hurt yourself, girl”
Sevas warned me
And Hendrick leaned forward
“I guess she likes a little pain, sevas”
He smiled, his words like a tease
And he put his hand out..
Leo rushed in, as he put a file
“Your father Benjamin Vaughn owes our boss.
The three notices has been sent, warning him that the final date for repayment is up
But there is no response from him”
Leo explains, as he opens the file.
It's a contract
And I definitely recognize my father's signature
“How much does he owe you?”
I ask, as I look at Hendrick back from Leo
It's clear that Hendrick is their boss
The king.
“Half a million”
Leo answers instead
Hendrick nods at sevas
Like an indication to something
And sevas steps forward, a shiver runs down my spine.
The closer he gets, the faster my heart beats
But he just undoes my wrists.
When I feel my hands again, I feel the ease, but when I look up, the room is still possessed.
“Your father was careless.
And you my Hilda, will pay for him”
Hendrick got on his step, and the other two men moved aside.
“I will.
I will pay on behalf of my father.
Tell me how much he owes you precisely.
I have some savings, for my college.
I'll use that.
Maybe I will pick a job, I will do everything in my power to repay you soon as possible.
Please.
I'll figure out a way, I promise”
My eyes stares at his, as I try to sound convincing as possible.
And he nods
“But the p*****t I want in return, is something else”
He comments, as comes around
Each step, feels like a calculated one
And Leo, lights his cigarette
I didn't even know when he had it out..
The second of fire fills his eyes, making them look Fierce
And he stretches his muscles
“And anyone who goes against us, carries a price.
Fails to make a repayment, carries a death note”
Leo states.
And I turn my head to look at Hendrick..
His eyes meet mine, as he comes in front of me
Settling on the edge of the table
His hand coming forward to lift my jaw
“Your father would have been dead by now.
Don't think that we didn't find him, or we couldn't kill him
He's in Russia”
Hendrick, speaks as his thumb caresses my jawline.
Sevas steps front, as he opens his iPad.
“The CCTV footage of the apartment your father is in”
sevas mentions, and my eyes dwell up as I notice my father who walks around
Having no clue of what's happening on the other end of the world
“My men are right outside his door.
They are known for their shooting skills.
And best in job.
It will take me a second to have his head blown out.
Dead”
Hendrick drops his thumb, as he traces the line of my neck..
And I swallow hard
I can feel my pulse in my throat
“Don't hurt him.
Please”
Finally my voice cracks.
A plead
A weak tear dropping my lashes
And he brings his thumb, to wipe that tear away, like nothing
“If hurting him was my decision I wouldn't have waited until now.
While taking the loan, he promised we could take anything as our repayment, if he failed to pay his debts”
His eyes glared in mine
Like he could turn me into dust.
“What is it that you want?"
I asked
A whisper
And the room went silent as he answered.
“You”
