Chapter 6 BY THE TIME Javes had packed everything, saddled up the camel and caught all the goats and tied them in the harness, it was midafternoon. He studied his maps. A place he knew, a few valleys down, had a pleasant grove of trees surrounding a well that had once belonged to an abandoned farm. He would sometimes have a break there with Pashtan. The farmhouse had almost fallen to dust, but the well was still there, and last time they visited, it had still contained water.
