Lisa’s POV
The door creaked again, and both of us stiffened. My heart raced as heavy footsteps approached. Maria quickly stood, her expression shifting into calm neutrality. The door swung open, and there he was—Alpha Nathan, his piercing eyes scanning the room.
“Maria,” he said, his voice low and commanding. “What are you doing here?”
Maria bowed her head slightly. “I came to check on Lisa, Alpha. She seemed unwell earlier.”
Nathan’s gaze shifted to me, his eyes dark and unreadable. “Go to bed. It’s late.” His tone wasn’t as harsh as I had expected it to be.
