Chapter 3Some Months Later Glancing around his quarters, Frank made sure everything was in place. Not that there was much space for him to have missed anything. After all, the room only contained his bunk, a tiny table, and a chair. On his bunk lay a red silk robe. An untouched glass of brandy rested on the table. He moved to sit in the chair, trying not to count the seconds. A hinged set of two photographs stood next to the drink. The men in one picture were dressed in civilian clothing, and both grinned like Cheshire cats. It had been taken in Hawaii a couple of months back. In the other picture, taken only a few days later, the same two men wore formal naval attire. Reaching out, Frank ran his finger over the names inscribed under the formal photo: Lieutenant Frank Reinhart and Seaman
