Six years later.
Unfortunately tomorrow is my sixteenth birthday, it is unfortunate because I do not feel like celebrating or any of my other birthdays, it feels different without my mom, but Papino won't take no for an answer, so he is throwing a big party. I was brought back from my thoughts when my phone rang.
"Alonzo what do you want", I said with little to no interest.
"Hello to you too", he said chuckling, I could not help but roll my eyes.
"Before you say anything else, I just called to wish you a happy birthday in advance", he added, but I could tell he was lying.
"What do you actually want Alonzo", I said clearly waiting for him to tell me why he called.
"Wanna go to the beach?", he asked with so much excitement.
"Give me five minutes", i said interested
