The night had ended, and the party was over. People were starting to pack their things and some already left. When Cytherea was with Lemnos, she didn’t think that she would actually enjoy his company. Lemnos is a sweet talker, and she can tell that he is a nice guy. However, even if she was enjoying their conversation, she was still thinking about Ares' whereabouts.
"Are you okay?" Lemnos couldn't help but ask. He noticed that something is bothering Cytherea.
"I'm sorry. I'm just really worried about Ares. I couldn't find him in the crowd," Cytherea smiled apologetically. "I'm so sorry. I don't want to give you the impression that I don't particularly appreciate talking to you. I actually enjoyed it, but for some reason, I'm worried about my fiancé. He is not like this at all."
"Oh, no, you don't have to apologize. If I was in your shoes and I'm not seeing my fiancée, I'd be worried too."
"Thanks for understanding, Lemnos. I appreciate it." She smiled at him.
"You know what? How about we call it a night. My phone will not stop buzzing too. I think this is some emergency that I need to attend to," he chuckled while looking at his phone. "Let's go out sometime with everyone. You, Ares, Athena, and Gaus. It will be fun to hang out sometimes."
"That would be great. I'll tell Ares and Athena about it."
Lemnos stood up and Cytherea did the same thing too.
"Hug?" Lemnos playfully asked. Cytherea smiled.
"Of course, we are friends now anyway."
Lemnos smiled and hugged Cytherea. "It was great meeting you. It was an honor for me to talk to you finally. A dream come true," he muttered.
"Huh?" Cytherea looked confused. She didn't quite understand what Lemnos said because the ballroom was getting loud.
"I said it was a pleasure meeting you."
"Oh! Same here."
"I've got to go if you'll excuse me."
Cytherea nodded. She went to the table where Athena was seated. She noticed that Athena was all alone, and Ares was still nowhere to be found.
"Where's Ares?" Cytherea asked Athena, who was still sipping her drink. Her face was turning red as if she’s already getting drunk.
"I don't know. He just stormed out and left me here alone. Why do guys always leave me? I've given them everything that I could offer. Everything that others couldn't even give but me. But why do they still choose to be with someone else? Am I an undesirable person, Bestie? Am I hard to love?" Athena asked. She was looking all sad.
Worry was written on Cytherea's face. She sat beside Athena and held her hand.
"Bestie, are you okay? You seem drunk already. It would be best if you stopped drinking already. I'm going to find Ares so that he can carry you."
"No, you don't need to do that, Bestie. I'm not drunk. It's just, you know? I don't understand why I'm always hurt. I'm always in pain. f**k relationships. I think they hate me," she bitterly chuckled.
"Bestie, you're really drunk. Stay here and I'll find Ares, okay?" She kissed Athena's temple before standing up and starting to roam around the ballroom to find Ares. She was looking around while walking in no definite direction when he bumped into someone. She was about to fall, but the man was quick enough to hold her waist.
"Hey, watch it!" the man exclaimed.
She looked at the man and saw that it was Gaus that she bumped with.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Gaus. I didn't notice you," she said apologetically. Gaus helped her so she could stand up properly.
"That's okay. By the way, why are you alone? Where's Ares and Athena?" Gaus asked.
"Athena’s at our table and I'm looking for Ares. I haven't seen him since he got off the stage and I'm getting worried already. He’s not the kind of person who will leave the place without telling me.” Cytherea was already on the verge of crying. Her heart was beating so fast. She had a strong feeling that something wasn’t right.
“Did you check your phone to see if he sent you any message?”
“Wait, I didn’t think of that. Let me check my phone.” She opened her clutch and took out her phone. To her dismay, no new message was found. She looked at Gaus with her sad eyes and shook her head.
“I’ll help you find him,” he offered. He looked in Athena's direction and saw that Athena looked like she’s already sleeping. Her head was already on the table. “But I think we have to bring Athena to your room first. It seems like she’s already sleeping.”
Cytherea looked in Athena’s direction too and nodded to Gaus.
"Yeah, I guess you're right," she agreed.
They went to Athena and saw that she was indeed already sleeping. Gaus has to carry her all the way to their room. When they finally have Athena situated on the bed, they went back to the ballroom to find Ares.
They already looked everywhere, but they still haven't found Ares.
"I'm sorry about this, Gaus, but do you have any CCTV cameras here?"
"Yes, we do. Wait, let's go to the security room."
They hurriedly went to the elevator to go to the security room, which was on the tenth floor.
When they arrived on the tenth floor, they went to the last door. The door has a retina scanner. Gaus immediately leaned his face close to the scanner. After a while, the door beeped and opened.
The room is full of monitors and four personnel in it who are busy monitoring the CCTV.
"Good evening, Sir," the four personnel greeted. Gaus nodded and went straight to the private room. It has a retina scanner as well and Gaus let the machine scan his right eye again to open the door.
He then led Cytherea inside the private room. Once the two of them got in, the door automatically closed.
The private room looked like a personal office with an office table, chairs, and a computer with a widescreen monitor.
"Sit here," Gaus offered while pulling the chair in front of the monitor.
Cytherea immediately sat down while Gaus was behind her manipulating the computer.
Babe, where are you?
