Grace We left the Country Club with Monica staring at our backside. I don’t know why, but I felt excellent about that, knowing that the person who hurt Mattie is hurting. Maybe Julia is starting to rub off on me?  The entire ride back to his house was quiet; you could have heard our hearts beat if you listened hard enough. He seemed indifferent, which was weird because while we waited for his truck, he kissed me as if he was leaving for war. As soon as he puts the truck into park, he leaps out and goes inside of the house, and I have half a mind to call a cab and leave with my dignity intact. But I guess I’m a moron because I follow him inside shivering because of the cold I feel starting to take over from standing in the rain.  I take my shoes off and slip around his house with my cold
