Chapter 7, Rachel Morris: Daylight shone around cracks in the wall, her spear shoved deep in the mouth of the giant insect that forced its way through an opening in the bricked-up door. Cliffside survived another day. Rachel slumped against the far wall, shocked she survived another night. The last half, she spent fighting alone, doing her best to keep the monsters at bay. In a fog from lack of sleep, she inspected her body. The gore from the monster made it impossible to tell where the green of bug and the red of human mixed. She knew she would not last another night.
