The Shift

(Adelia's POV)

My mom came up in my room around 8pm telling my brother Adam she postponed my party to tomorrow at noon. Guess that's the good thing about being in a pack. We can all reschedule at the last minute and everything still gotta as planned. I can't believe I am still sleeping but can hear my mom. Weird, right? I fall back into the darkness.

I woke up screaming in pain.

No one is around me. Where is Adam? Did he leave me? Why would he do that?

I heard the bedroom door open and the bathroom door open at the same time. Thank the Godess he didn't leave me.

I scream again.

I can hear all four of my brothers and my parents talking around me.

"She's burning up." mom says.

"We will get Tylenol and a cold rag." The twins say.

"Maybe we should get her to the healer." Adam says in concern.

"What happened to her really, Aron?" daddy says, angerly.

"Father I don't know. All I know is her head hurts. I would never do anything to her. I love her." Aron replies sadly.

Can't they all just leave him alone? He didn't do anything wrong. I hear the twins come back in and feel the cold washcloths placed on my head. They try to give me the Tylenol but I spit it out. I can taste blood.

"Honey call the healer she's spitting out blood. What is happening to our princess? I'm right here baby girl." Mommy says while crying.

" I'm okay mommy..... I prom......" Before I could complete my sentence I started screaming again but this time I heard cracking and popping with it. What is that noise coming from?

"She's shifting, get her under the moon right now!!!" daddy yells out.

"Oh goddess, my baby." Mommy cries.

Aron and Adam carry me outside under the moon.... wait it's a blue moon..... was that dream real.... I can't think long about that because I start screaming in pain again. I feel like my skin is burning and my face is being pulled apart while someone breaks every bone in my body. Why does this hurt so much? What is happening to me? I can't be shifting I'm only 9. That's not even heard of. Normal wolves shift at soxteen. Even the royals don't shift till they are thirteen and alphas shift at fifteen. I lose my train of thought when pain ripples through me again.

"AHHHHHHHH" I scream out.

I hear a voice in my head, 'It's alright my daughter, you are a royal and goddess it's time for you to take wolf form.' No why is this happening to me?

Then it all stops I'm tired and panting but all the pain and burning are gone. I let out a sigh. I look at my family and they all looked shocked and in awe. Why are they looking at me like that?

The twins are the first to say anything, "Princess your beautiful."

I give them a puzzled look. What are they talking about?

"My baby girl is gorgeous. Look at you. Awe" Mommy says.

"My princess...... wow...... just amazing." Daddy says. I think he's still in shock.

Aron and Adam come and pet my head. I reach to their shoulders. Which means I'm over 6 ft tall. Normal wolves are four and a half feet to five feet, Alpha and royals are five to five and a half feet. It doesn't matter how tall you are in human form.

"Great job Adelia," Aron says with so much pride.

"Do you wanna see yourself princess?" Adam asks.

I shake my head yes and Adam motions me to follow him. Everyone else tagged along behind us. Adam brings me to a lake that is behind our house. I look in the water and see a beautiful snow white wolf. My eyes are still sparkling icy blue with violet rings. I also have wings. They are icy blue, white, violet and very shiny. They have jems all over them, that sparkle in the moon light. I have never seen wings on a werewolf before but they are stunning. I am speechless with my appearance.

My family laughs at my expression I turn my head towards them, tilting it to the side and they all say together "Beyond beautiful, right princess?" I nod my head yes. How do they do that? Say the same thing at the same time? Creepy but I love my family.

I jump up and down yelping and licking my family, which makes them laugh more. Till daddy tells me it's time to shift back, he holds a blanket in his hands. So I can cover up after I shift, no one can shift without ripping their clothes. Even the royals. I shift back into my human form and again my family is speechless. Oh my goddess, my clothes stayed on. I had the biggest smile on my face.

The twins come to my side.

"Let's go home and sleep sis" Alfie says. I grin at him and nod my head.

" Let's go. Your amazing princess." Alec says while kissing my forhead.

" I love you guys so much." I say while hugging the twins.

My family and I head back to the house together. I am so tired and I think Aron can sense that because next thing I know he is carrying me bridal style and holding me close to his chest.

He whispers in my ear," Sleep princess."

He doesn't have to tell me twice. I doze off into dream Land while I feel Aron laying me in my bed, tucking me in and then cuddling to my side. I'm so tired I can't even focus on my families whispering voices before darkness consumes all of me.

I woke up feeling refreshed and new, oh no.... it's 11:30, the party is at noon. I have to get ready.

I jump out of bed and run to the bathroom to shower in my favorite fragrance. I get out dry myself off and blow dry my hair. Wow, what happen to my hair? Wait I'm already late, I'll worry about my hair later. I think about my hair while running to my walk in closet. I went through all of my clothes and couldn't decided what I wanted to wear. ugh. What am I gonna do? Mommy walked in just at that time.

Mommy gasps. "Look at your hair princess, it has violet and icy blue highlights. It's beautiful sweetie."

I smile at her, glad she's not mad.

"Princess I got you a special dress for your birthday party. Remember we can't let anyone know you shifted, okay sweetie? Which means we need to not tell anyone outside our family about the highlights you woke up with, we will say it was a birthday present, okay? I'll link the family to let them know the story." mommy says.

"Yes Mommy." I say.

I walk over to my mommy and give her a big hug while she kisses my forehead. I open the box my mommy put on my bed and it's stunningly beautiful. It's a snow white fluffy sleeveless dress with icy blue and violet swirls. It will match my eyes and hair perfectly. I smile brightly at mommy because this dress is beyond perfect.

Mommy smiles at me, "Let me French braid your hair in pony tails and help you in your dress."

"Okay mommy" I smile at her. My family always makes me happy.

Once mommy is done we are officially a half hour late, I slip on my white flats and head to the back yard with mommy. When we get outside everyone from the pack is here.

They all scream,"HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADELIA."

I smile and whisper, "thank you."

My four brothers and father come up to mommy and I. "Your beautiful princess, we love the hair," they all say at the same time. I smile and hug my family.

" Your missing one thing though princess." Daddy says. What am I missing?

I look at him confused until he pulls out a box with a white tiara with violet and blue swirls. I smile and squeal jumping up and down. My family chuckles at my behavior and daddy places the tiara on my head.

"Thank you Daddy. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you." I scream while hugging him tightly and kissing his cheek.

Daddy laughs, "Anything for you princess. Go see your friends."

I don't have to be told twice. I run off to meet up with Sage.

"Hey Sage" I scream while smiling and hugging her from behind.

She turns around smiling but then she loses her smile. Why? What's her issue?

"What did you do to your hair?" Sage asks sounding angery. Did I do something wrong?

"Oh mommy braided it for me." Why does she care about my hair? Why isn't she hugging me back?

"No no no Adelia, I mean the color." She says in irratation.

I look at her confused. Aron comes up behind me and decides to answer Sage.

"We got her highlights that match her eyes for her birthday. It looks good on Adelia, don't you think Sage?" Aron asks, calmly.

"NO I DON'T. Why do you have to be so fake Adelia. Fake eyes, Fake hair..... I don't want to be friends with a fake person, right girls?" Sage says in a snotty tone.

When did the 3 barbies of our pack show up? I'm trying to hold my tears in and Aron is gripping my shoulders really tight, it kind of hurts but it's a good distraction. I just wanna go back to my room now.

The 3 barbies laugh at what Sage said. What was funny?

"Your right Sage, such a loser. Let's go." The barbies say. Then all four of them walk off. What just happened?

I turn into Aron and bawl my eyes out. He whispers in my ear, "They are not worth it. Your amazing and beautiful. They are just jealous. Wanna go lay down in your bed princess?" I nod my head in his belly. He's really tall. Aron picks me up bridal style and brings me to my room. Of course my whole family followed and the alpha with his Luna.

"Is she okay?" Alpha Ryan Ocean says. He's my dad's best friend.

Aron answered, "Sage decided to be mean to her. I'm gonna say they aren't friends anymore."

"How does a warriors child think they can disrespect a beta child? This is not okay. You are beautiful, brave and special Adelia. Don't listen to bullies." Luna Marie Ocean says while giving me a hug.

"Thank you." I whisper, sadly.

Mommy and Daddy kiss my head and tell me to sleep. I drift off to sleep while my family, the Alpha and the Luna leave my room.

Hopefully my life gets better. Why did I have to lose my best friend? Why did I have to shift on my ninth birthday? I'm happy I still have my family. But if that dream is real are they really my family? But they do love me. Those are my last thoughts when I'm pulled into the darkness.

(Adam's POV)

What the hell happen to princess? My wolf and I are on edge, I want to go on a killing sprees just to make sure my princess never gets hurt again. I hear the Alpha and Luna talk to princess. Once she fell asleep we all left her room. We bid the Alpha and Luna goodbye with a bow and head to the living room to talk about this issue. Poor princess.

"What happen to her Aron? What did Sage do to her?" I ask angerly.

Aron sighs sadly before replying, "Sage told her she didn't want to be friends with a fake. She told princess she has fake hair and fake eyes and then took off with the barbies."

That made my anger spike more than it already was, how dare she insult princess. She's the one fake, always trying to make herself look like Adelia. 'ughhhhhh' my wolf yells in my head.

Dad put his hand on my shoulder, " Calm down son getting worked up isn't going to help anyone especially Adelia. The Alpha will talk to their family."

Mom sighs, " We have more appressing things to worry about. Like why she shifted at nine and what happen to her hair? We need to worry about what will happen next."

Mom's right but I don't have to be happy about it. I want to go beat Sage up, that cocky kid. The twins interupt my thought process.

They say together, " Our wolves said we are Adelia's protectors and she has three more like us. She needs to start training and she will also be coming into her powers soon. She has to control her emotions."

Mom cries into dad's shoulder, " My little baby is getting so big. Why does she have to grow so fast?"

Always the dramatic one. She's only nine, she's not getting big at all. So she shifted early, big deal. We need to be there for her more that is all that needs to be done. How can a little kid take all this on her shoulders?

We all head off to bed and I take a peek in on Adelia before going to my room to make sure she is still sleeping peaceful.

While I am laying in my bed all I'm trying to figure out is why is this all happening to princess? How can I help her through this?

(Adelia's POV)

...............Dream.............

I am back in the same forest next to the waterfall with the pretty lady in front of me. If I remember right she said she is the moon goddess. How did I get back here? Why do I keep having the same dream? It's weird because it feels like I am still awake but I know I am not.

"Hello dear, I am the moon goddess which I am sure you remember. I brought you back here to the realm of the gods again to tell you the story of how you came to life. Would you like to hear it Adelia?" she asks. Her voice is so gentle and sweet.

I walk over in front of her and sit in the grass criss cross applesauce, mommy says this isn't a lady posture but it's comfy.

"Yes please" I say, politely.

She smiles at me. Oh my goddess I made the moon goddess smile.

She starts speaking, "I love your manners daughter. Okay. I am your mother and the king of werewolves is your father as I am sure you remembered. I am the moon Goddess the creator of werewolves, vampires, witches and fairies. One day I decided to go to earth to visit my creations, I like peace and harmony. I was walking through the forest trying to figure out ways to make the fairies more social and stop the fights and bad energy between the werewolves and vampires. While I was thinking I walked into a man. He had golden blonde hair and deep blue eyes. I was memorized by him and instantly fell in love. I knew he was the king of werewolves. I went back with him. We were strong, happy and in love together for an amazing 6 months. I tried to convince him to make peace with the vampires. He agreed. But that same night he left and attacked the vampire king killing the king's mate and one of their children's. I couldn't stand there and watch him hurting my creatures so I left back to the realm of God's. The day after, I found out I was pregnant with you. I couldn't give you a normal life in the realm of God's so I decided to give you to your father. I was 4 months pregnant and due any day. I had you on January 1st, which you know. I went back to the werewolf kingdom to give you to your father but what I saw made me realize he was unsafe for you. He was going on killing sprees, attacking my other creatures and destroying packs he thought were against him. So I started looking for one of your protectors families. I found the perfect one with the Willow's. They always wanted a girl but couldn't have any more pups after the twins. So I left you on their back porch and left a note on you, 'This is the Goddess's baby. Her name is Adelia. She is half god half royal, keep her safe. Keep her hidden. Protect her with your lives. The moon goddess.' I tapped into your mother's dream and made her see you and feel like she had to check the back door, so she did. When she saw you, she cried happy tears and screamed for your father. I knew you were safe and loved with them. I have always watched over you. You need to save my creatures and make peace come back. Your mate is out there and then when you are ready you can become the next moon goddess. You will stop aging at 20. You must take your father down by the time you turn 15 to stop the great war he is planning which will kill all my creations. You are strong and special my daughter. I love you. Any questions Adelia?"

I couldn't forge any word out of my mouth with tears running down my face. So I got up and ran to the moon goddess, my mother and hugged her. " I love you mother. Thank you for picking an amazing family they are my life and always make me happy. I will make you proud mother and bring peace back for all kinds of life."

She smiled down at me, " I know you will. I will let you get back to sleep, you have a lot of training to learn. Also control your emotions or your powers can be hard to handle. Good luck my daughter and I will always be watching over you." She kissed my forehead and then I started to get pulled back into the darkness.

All I could think before falling back to sleep is that I will make you proud and save our world. With my family by my side I should be fine. I just never realized how hard it would all be. Was I ready for this? Could I control my emotions? Could I kill my father I have never met before I turned 15? Who will my mate be? Will he love me? Can he help me defeat my father? Who are my other 3 protectors? When will I meet them? Do I have to find them or will they find me?

I guess I should have asked the moon goddess, my mother, more questions. But all I felt that was right in that moment was hugging her and showing her that I could never be mad at her for leaving me.
