Fly

2239 Words

I tie the sheets together to form a long rope. I make sure everything is secured about three or four times just incase I made a mistake and end up falling to my death. Maybe not my death. But it would be a painful fall regardless. I look around, trying to find the perfect place to tie my makeshift rope to. Something strong enough to hold my body weight. I decide to simply tie it to the edge of the balcony. If it is strong enough to hold up the building, it will be strong enough to hold me up. Then as instructed, I wait until half past ten. The time where the guards gather at the front entrance to swap shifts for the night. With perfect timing, half ten hits and the guards all make their way towards the entrance. I need to be quick. I cannot think twice about it, there is no going back now.
