CHAPTER 2: CONFUSION

Mia still can't believe what happened. She tried to pinch herself thinking she was just dreaming but she was hurt by the pain she felt.
No, I'm not dreaming! It's true that I will earn more and I will be able to support Mama and Lucas now! I can somehow reduce my debts..
She didn't know how grateful she was feeling right now, her heart was so happy that she wanted to jump. The sweet smile did not leave her lips until she returned to her duty that day.
"Hmm, do I need to ask or are you going to tell me right now why you're smiling so big?" It was Lourdes. They just met in the hallway to the labor room.
Mia happily turned to her friend, she looked around for a moment then pulled Lourdes to a somewhat hidden place.
"Wait, I guess that's too confidential for you to drag me here," Lourdes whined full of curiosity.
"So..Uhmm.." she was really excited that she didn't know how to start.
Suddenly Lourdes' eyes widened and covered her mouth.
"Oh my.. Don't tell me Sir Duke offered you some-"
"That's right, yes, he said I’ll pay triple if-" she interrupted what her friend was saying. But before she had finished, Lourdes suddenly pulled the lower part of her hair that was still loose at that time.
"What? Why did you agree? I know you need money, Mia. But you don't have to agree to Sir Duke just to triple your salary! Yes, Sir Duke is handsome and– and his ‘load’ seems big but you know you're not that kind of girl and I'm still here, Mia. I'll help you," she said in a low but shivering voice.
She frowned spontaneously, at the same time her eyes rolled.
“What are you saying? Why would Sir Duke pay someone to entertain him? Wait..." she approached her friend and spoke in a whisper. "Is he really doing that kind of thing?" She asked in disbelief.
Lourdes immediately covered her mouth with one of her palms. "Shhh, those are just rumors!"
She was tormented, she couldn't understand why Lourdes immediately accused her when she wasn't really sure about what was being accused of their Director.
"So, what's the reason?" Soon Lourdes started to ask her again.
She started walking, Lourdes spoiled the joy and excitement she was feeling earlier.
"What I’m saying is, Sir Duke offered me to work for a rich man, as a private nurse." Then, she smiled.
“Really? How rich? and is he handsome?" she asked excitedly.
She shook her head and shrugged, "I don't know."
"You're lucky, girl. He’s handsome for sure! You know what, I have a good feeling about this. Do you know the ending of these kinds of scenarios, hmm?” Excitement drew on Lourdes face.
Mia just shook her head again. Her friend was always advanced as if she’s seeing the future, she also didn't hesitate to speak her mind.
"You two will fall in love!" She said happily, answering her own question.
Mia laughed a little. "That seems vague," she disagreed.
"Huh? Why? You're such a negative woman!"
"I will just work there. Sir Duke said, Liam was very rude and arrogant. He has been in a wheelchair for a few months now, so, I guess I will be more of a servant than we became a lover, okay?" she said.
Lourdes became silent, when she looked at her, her muzzle was getting long.
"Really?" Lourdes says in dismay.
she nodded. "Yep, that's right."
"Now I understand why he offered you such a high salary. The income is triple as well as your work," she said. "What if he takes a bath, urinates, or defecates? Does that mean you need to be there to support him or even wash his–?" Lourdes stops from adding some questions when she sees Mia freeze for a moment.
Lourdes was right. That scenario had not occurred to her before.
"You mean, you're not ready for that obligation? Am I right or am I right?” Lourdes asks with a wide smile..
"Maybe his situation is not that bad, maybe he can do such things on his own." She was trying to calm herself down. She had never seen a naked man in her entire life, let alone seen a man's p***s in person. Only in the book and on the mannequin when she was still in college.
"Why is it that the private nurse hired by your future boss is a woman? He can hire a man."
The same question that came to her mind. On the other hand, she is still thankful because he preferred a woman to take care of him, the high salary is a big help to her.
"When do you start, then?" asked Lourdes.
"First day next month." she replied sparingly.
Lourdes nodded. "Congratulations, but good luck. When there's something you need to ask and know about- you know.. I'm right here.” she even winked at her before entering the labor room first.
Earlier, Mia felt only pure joy, now it was mixed with curiosity. What if her boss can't wash his own ass? Will she be the one to clean it? But if so, how and isn't that embarrassing?!
Her face almost winced at the thought.
"You know, you can beat me with that wince. You're a nurse here, right?" said of the woman lying in a hospital bed, they’re monitoring her baby's heart beat.
She tried to smile and nodded. She remembered she needed to take the woman's blood pressure but her mind wandered everywhere.
Before Mia went off, she decided to go see their Director, hoping the man was still there. She needed to clear up what had been troubling her mind. When she came to Duke’s office, she immediately knocked. But there was no response from inside so she knocked again, even louder this time.
She breathed a sigh of relief when she saw the doorknob move, a few seconds later and the door finally opened. Duke was then spat on. She gasped when she saw his polo-shirt open and slightly wrinkled.
“Oh, Mia. it's late, why are you still here?" Duke ask.
"Uhmm, I-I just wanted to ask something regarding the-"
"Babe, I'm ready!"
Mia stops after hearing the voice. It was a woman's voice coming from Duke's office. Mia frowned because that voice was familiar to her! He saw fear pass through Duke’s eyes.
"Babe, what are you still doing there? Do you ordered food?” Then, a woman’s face appeared at the door. Mia noticed even her curly hair was wet. The woman’s once big eyes widened even more and quickly hidden back inside of the office.
"L-lourdes?!" Mia whispered in shock..
