DYLAN'S POV
The King's visit takes me to the brim of my happiness, and I feel so proud and honored to be the future father-in-law of the Alpha prince.
"Have a safe trip home." I smile at George while ushering him into his car.
"Thanks, Dylan. See you on Saturday. Let's say around 6:30 pm?" he suggests.
"That's perfect." I grin. "We will be there."
George closes his door and rolls down the window. Then we both nod at each other to bid our final goodbye.
George turns to his man sitting on the driver's seat. "Let's go." He tells him, and when his car starts moving, the other car does too.
As soon as the coast is clear, Alexander stands by my side.
"I think you better run to your mate and apologize." He suddenly speaks, which allows me to realize what I've done. f**k!
"Thanks for reminding me. Damn it, how can I be so damn careless?!" I mutter in frustration.
"You did the right thing, though. George is a good man, and Logan is like his clone when it comes to personality. A promising young prince and a rightful heir for his father's throne," he highlighted, and from the way Alexander says it, with so much enthusiasm, I can sense how much he admires Logan. Now I'm intrigued. I can't wait to meet that young boy—my future son-in-law.
"I met King George once when I was young but did not get a chance to spend time with him. He was with dad most of the time. But I agree with you; he seems like a good man, and I'm positive Cai thought of that too." I take a sharp intake of breath after my mate's name escapes my mouth.
"I better hurry to my mate before she bites my head off." I joke.
Alexander chuckled. "Good luck!"
"I need that." I playfully say. "Will you be hanging out for a while?" I add.
"I'll just meet Margarette quickly; then I'll go." He says, making me grow suspicious again. I'm itching to ask him what's their business, but then I could feel Cai's eyes on me.
I look up at our bedroom window and see Cai watching me with piercing eyes. Damn! I really f****d up! But I know once she hears my explanation, she'll be fine.
I give Alexander a tap on his arm. "Gotta go!" I did not wait for his response and rushed to my feet to face the wrath of my furious mate.
CAILEAN'S POV
Dylan scrambles to his feet into the house when he sees me staring at him from our window, and not for long, the door bangs open, and my mate looks undoubtedly uneasy. Well, he should because he knows what's about to come upon him.
"My love..."
"Don't you dare call me my love!" I did not let him finish.
"You were the one..." I stop, press my back against the window and touch my belly when I feel the babies kick inside me really hard. I bet they could feel my anger. I'm sorry, Bayron and Amelia, but I have to confront daddy for what he did.
"Holy s**t! Are you ok?" Dylan panics and marches in my direction, but I raise my hand and gesture to him to stop. Dylan freezes.
"Don't you dare come closer! How could you do that, Dylan?! You were the first one to mention that we will discuss the matter first, so what the f**k happened?" I bellow.
"I'm really sorry, my love. I got carried away because I got a good feeling about it. It was the right thing to do to protect our pups, so I thought, why do we have to delay deciding if it's obvious that we are going to agree with it."
"WE? As far as I'm concerned, there was no WE when you made the decision; it was all you!" I remind him.
Dylan smiles. "I saw your reaction when George spoke to you, looking straight into your eyes. You wanted to say YES, am I right?" I gave him a sharp glare after hearing his ridiculous assumption, but Dylan's smile didn't budge. In fact, it grows wider.
I open my mouth and then press them together. I couldn't find the words to refute his statement because he is absolutely right. I wanted to say yes.
Dylan slowly pulls me into a hug and begins brushing my hair with his palm.
"If I did not see that reaction on your face, I will never say yes." He says in a sweet voice which makes my heart suddenly feel heavy with guilt.
"I'm sorry I shouted at you." I apologize and twist my body to the side so I could hug him back. Hugging is challenging these days because of my big baby bump.
"No need to apologize, my love. I should have given you a heads-up." I just hug him tightly to respond then I pull away to give myself space to look at him.
"Are we still going for a picnic?" I ask with a smile.
He brushes a kiss on my lips. "Indeed we are."
*****
"Do you feel anything odd or any stomach pain?" Dylan checks on me as we settle inside the car.
"Nope!" I shake my head. "I feel fantastic!"
"Good!" Dylan beams and starts the engine. When he shifts the gear to drive, I suddenly feel an urge to pee.
"Wait, my love; I need to pee," I inform Dylan.
"Good thing we haven't left yet." He sighs with relief and exits the car. He jogs to my side, opens my door, and assists me in getting out of the vehicle.
Dylan holds my arm to provide support, and as I put my right leg out, the urine suddenly comes out.
My cheeks start to feel hot from the embarrassment, but Dylan's reaction confuses me. "Oh s**t!" panic looms in his face, and that's the time I realize that it doesn't smell like urine. Instead, it smells like something else.
Dylan put my leg back in the car, closed the door, and rushed to the driver's seat.
"Cai, it's time!" His voice comes out pretty loud.
"We have to inform granny." I want granny to be there too when I give birth.
"I'll mind link Phelan; let him handle it," he says, then steps on the gas and drives straight to the infirmary.
The tires screech into a halt as we reach the infirmary. Dylan carries me out of the car and runs inside the pack hospital.
"Alpha!" A nurse utters in surprise.
"Cai's water broke!" Dylan is panicking while I'm completely calm. Then another two nurses come with a stretcher.
"Put Luna here, Alpha." The nurse instructs Dylan.
He laid me down on the stretcher, and then they began to push me.
Dylan takes my hand and holds it tightly. "Are you ok, my love?"
"I'm fine," I say, full of confidence. Then, shortly, I tighten my grip on Dylan's hand when pain occurs in my tummy.
"What's wrong, my love?!" he worriedly asks.
"I'm having contractions." This is it. It's really happening, so I start to count the intervals of every contraction. Then, I feel that we stop moving and hear the nurse tell Dylan to stay outside as they prepare me for the delivery of the babies. I couldn't focus after that because the pain lasted longer. It's so freaking painful, and I think I'm going to pass out.
Dylan's face hovers above mine. "I'll be with you shortly, my love." Dylan's voice sounds very soothing, and I badly need that.
I nod weakly to acknowledge what he said and hitch a breath, then bite my lower lip to stifle a cry.
I don't think I want to undergo the same pain after this.
DYLAN'S POV
It's been 15 minutes since they brought Cai to the delivery room. This is not our original plan. The plan was that she would give birth in a birthing suite, but everything happens quickly, and that plan totally slipped my mind when I saw that liquid streaming down her legs. Indeed panic ruins everything.
While I pace back and forth in front of the delivery room door, waiting for the call, Granny and Alexander arrive.
"How's Cai doing?" Granny asks calmly, and I'm amazed how she can stay calm in this kind of situation? I wish I could be like that.
"She's fine." I massage the back of my neck. "Honestly, she's calmer than me." I sheepishly confess, which earns me a sympathetic smile from Granny and Alexander.
Shortly after that, a nurse comes out and peeks her head through the door. "You can come now, Alpha."
I nod and follow her. After I take my first step, Alexander grabs my shoulder. I look at him.
"Everything will be alright." He says with a soft smile.
"Thank you." I smile back and resume to follow the nurse.
She guides me to a sink where I can wash my hands and provides me with a clinical gown, head cover, sterile gloves, and something to cover my shoes.
"You have to wear these before you can enter the facility." She explains, and I quickly did what I was told. After putting them on, the nurse and I go inside.
My heart drops when I see Cai's face, which contorts from certainly excruciating pain.
I dash beside her and hold her hand.
Cai rolls her head to me. "It's so painful, Dy. Aaah..." She groans.
"You can do this, my love. I'm here for you." I whisper in her ear.
"I can see the head!" Will exclaim! Getting my attention and my heart rate kicks up a notch from the excitement and concern at the same time.
"Cai, if you feel a contraction, I want you to push, ok?" Will instruct and Cai nods to acknowledge.
"I'm going to push!" Cai announced.
"You're doing great, my love." I cheer. Beads of sweat cover her forehead, and her face is rife with a red hue when she starts to push.
The bones in my hand almost break when Cai uses it for support as she pushes. But everything I feel skedaddle when I hear a cry resonates throughout the whole room.
"It's a girl!" Will declares and quickly passes the baby to one of his assistants. "I can see the other head. Cai, you are doing amazing, and I want you to do the same thing for your baby boy."
"Ok," Cai mumbles and heaves a breath.
"Here it comes!" Cai informs us before she pushes one more time. This time the cry was louder, a mighty cry which almost shaken the whole room.
"Here's your son." Will place the baby on Cai's chest.
It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen in my life. His tiny nose and his little hands fill my heart with bliss.
"Where's our daughter?" I ask Will.
"We have to take her to the nursery. Margarette informs me not to let the twins go close to each other until she puts the spell to suppress their powers. She will perform it there in the nursery after that; we'll bring your daughter to Cai's room."
Right, my kids are special, and there are magic-related precautions we have to take.
"But Amelia is doing ok right?" Cai inquired.
"She's perfect." Will assure and takes the baby from Cai.
"Let me handle him for now. Then, we will bring them both to your room, fresh and clean."
The smile never fades on my face as I watch Will pass Bayron to the nurse, and I follow her with my eyes until she saunters out of the room with my precious son.
Finally, it's really happening. My son and daughter are physically out of this world!
I'm officially a DAD!
