Chapter 10

Third person narrative Brittany walked into the room, her eyes wide with shock. She couldn't believe what was before her eyes. “What the hell do the both of you think you're doing?” She asked angrily as she stormed towards Ethan and Fiona, with jealousy brewing in her veins. She angrily hit Ethan's hand and the spoon, along with the food on it fell on the floor. “What were you trying to do with Ethan,” she barked at Fiona. “Brittany, that's enough. Let it be,” Ethan said, standing up and blocking Fiona from her view. “What do you mean let it be? I just walked in on you feeding this waste of space, and you're telling me to let it be? Why don't you say something, fattie? Huh?” Brittany pointed her fingers at Fiona who just put her head down, not wanting anything to do with her. “I said let it be,” Ethan shouted, and Brittany stopped. “Follow me,” he said as he let her go and walked out of the room. Brittany sighed and glared at Fiona before finally looking away and walking out of the room with Ethan. Ethan walked down the stairs, getting as far away from Fiona as he could. Then he turned around to face Brittany who was walking behind him. “What the hell is your problem?” He asked her. “What do you mean by that? You're meant to be apologizing, because I just caught my boyfriend feeding someone else, and not even a random person, her,” Brittany's emphasis on the word her showed her disdain. “Whatever you saw in there was nothing. She isn't feeling well and this is something you should know as you saw her fall down the stairs. I've been tasked with the job of taking care of her as she's bruised and broken all over, and that is what I am doing. Don't come in here spewing nonsense when you know nothing about what is going on,” Ethan went off. He breathed hard as he tried to catch his breath. Brittany looked guilty as she stared at his angry face. “Well, I'm sorry. I didn't see you at school at all, and you didn't call or text me, nor did you answer any of my calls, so I was pissed. Then I came in here and saw you and her like that and I just panicked,” Brittany explained, twisting her fingers together nervously and pouting. “I'm sorry about that, I was just too occupied to think of anything else. But you have to remember that Fiona is still my step-sister no matter what, so I have to treat her right, even if it's only in the presence of my family,” Ethan said walking closer to her and placing his palms on either side of her face. “You've been getting too close to her, and it's weird. When she first came here, you told me that you hated her, now all of a sudden, you're acting all nice and good to her. I'm worried,” Brittany said. “There's nothing to worry about, Brittany. I'm just doing as I was told. I don't want to get on my dad's bad side for now, so I have to do this. Please understand,” he pleaded. Brittany sighed and nodded before Ethan bent down and kissed her lips. She smiled brightly, and then the smile turned into a sinister one. “I have a plan and it's going to be very funny, so I need you to help me out so it can work out. If you don't help me, I don't think it'll work,” Brittany begged Ethan. “What is it that you want to do?” Ethan asked. “Oh, don't worry. It's nothing really serious, but it's going to be funny, that's all. It all just got fun. Don't worry no one will get hurt,” “So what exactly do you want me to do?” Ethan asked. “Well, I'll try to befriend Fiona, and make it seem like I'm sorry for whatever it was that I've done to her, so I need you to back me up and tell her good things about me, you know, stuff like that,” “What's the plan exactly? What do you plan to do to her?” “I can't tell you that now, because then it wouldn't be funny. Just wait and see and I'm sure you'll laugh of your lifetime. Trust me,” Brittany smirked as she held onto Ethan's hand and walked to the mini bar at the corner. She got a bottle of wine and two glasses. She opened the wine and poured it into the glasses before giving it to Ethan. “To Fiona and our victory in advance,” she said as she clinked her glass with Ethan's and drank from it. Ethan pursed his lips as she watched her. He really couldn't tell what she was about to do, but he knew it wasn't going to be anything funny at all. There was nothing he could do about it until it happened, because if he said anything in Fiona's defense, Brittany would start accusing him again and would make a mountain out of a molehill. He looked up the stairs in the direction of Fiona's room. He didn't know why he would be mean to her sometimes, it was like he couldn't help it. He wanted to make peace with her, but he couldn't with Brittany in the way. He sighed before finally bringing the glass to his lips and downing the whole thing at once. Ethan didn't go back up after that, because Brittany didn't let him. When it was evening, she took him shopping, which would mark the beginning of her plan. She bought a lot of gifts and things that girls their age would want and a bouquet. “Who are you getting all this for?” Ethan asked her. “For Fiona, of course. As a peace offering,” she answered as she stared at the bouquet. “This is going to be so much fun,” she giggled as she looked away from the bouquet and walked out of the shop, the joy on her face obvious to the entire world.
