Chapter 1
Fiona
I was seated on the couch, looking down at my fingers before lifting my head to take a look at the house. I couldn't believe that it was most probably the last time I was going to be seeing it.
Even though it was just a cottage, It was a home that I had lived in with the woman whom I just found out wasn't my mom, but my aunt.
I was more than shocked when she revealed it to me on her sick bed, but I wasn't angry at her because she had chosen to take care of me, rather than abandon me like my birth mother.
After my aunt died, my birth mother contacted me, letting me know that she would want me to come live with her, so that she could take care of me.
I was so angry when her message reached me that I blatantly refused at first. I couldn't believe that after all these years, she finally decided to contact me.
She had said that since I was still young, she wanted to take care of me and give me the good life my aunt hadn't been able to.
But deep down, I knew that was a lie, I know for sure now that she may have abandoned me because I was human.
My aunty had in the past told me that I was a human even though I lived in a wolf pack with her. Her reason was that my father was a human and she suspects that I might take after his genes.
When my initial anger had subsided, I thought about my mother's offer. If I refused it, I'd have to fend for myself and live alone. There would be a lot of bills I'd have to pay, and my aunt was poor, so she left no money behind.
And being that I was only seventeen, it would be difficult to get a good job to sustain me. I had no choice but to agree to her request.
I stood up from the couch and walked around the living room, taking in everything once more. It was a house that held a lot of happy memories for me, and having to leave it broke me, but I knew my aunt would have also wanted me to.
A honk from outside dragged me out of my thoughts, and I walked to the window and looked outside. A very luxurious car was waiting outside, and a man stepped out of it and walked to the front door and knocked.
“Hi, may I help you?” I asked him with a smile on my face.
“Are you Miss Fiona?” He asked me and I nodded. “I was sent by your mom to bring you home,” he said warmly.
“Oh okay then. Let me just get my things,” I said as I left the door to move the boxes that I had packed, but he stopped me.
“You don't have to do that. I'll move them, you can just go sit in the car,” he said and I nodded, letting him do what he liked.
I opened the door to the passenger's seat and sat there, waiting for him to get back.
When he got into the car, he looked shocked to see me beside him.
“You should sit at the back,” he said and I shook my head.
“It's fine, I feel more comfortable here,” I smiled and he nodded his head as he started driving.
I sighed as I turned my head to look out the window. My birth mother currently lived in a different pack, the Blue Moon pack, which was very far from my pack. It was a big pack and more city standard, compared to my pack which was more like a small town.
I wondered what kind of person my birth mother was and how I would manage to fit into the pack. I was also transferring to the school there, and just thinking about it was giving me a hard time.
Not only was I different from most people because of my size and dress sense, but I was also transferring in the middle of the semester. It would just draw a lot of unnecessary attention, and that was not what I needed at the moment.
I sighed again. I had sighed so many times throughout the trip that the driver was starting to get worried, but I didn't say anything to him.
I just plugged my earphones and buried myself in my thoughts throughout the trip, falling asleep and waking up at intervals.
“We're here,” the driver said, and I was pulled out of my thoughts.
I looked up to see that he had parked the car in front of a magnificent building, and I sat in the car, frozen in shock. I had never seen a house so big in my entire life.
I slowly came out of the car, still stunned by what I was seeing. The area around the house spread wide, and it indicated that they owned all of that. The design of the house screamed, “We have a lot of money, and we're gonna show it.”
Just then, another car pulled up beside the one I just came out of. A young girl came out of it, and she seemed to be a little bit older than me. She was pretty, with blonde hair and a slim, fit body, the type that I envied.
Her eyes met mine, and she looked me over, her eyes holding nothing but disgust.
“What are you doing standing there? Help me take these bags in!!” She shouted as she pointed towards the thousands of bags that were being brought out of the car.
She probably mistook me for a maid, because I wasn't as dressed up as she was, and maybe because of my size, very stereotypical.
I raised my eyebrows as I watched her, not moving from my spot. I just shake my head a look away from her.
“Excuse me fatty, I'm talking to you. Don't look away from me and pretend you don't hear me,” she nagged.
I zoned out, paying more attention to the building in front of me than her. Its size and design still amazed me. I looked at her, and it seemed she was about to escalate the issue, more than she should, but she was stopped when the front door to the house opened, and a woman walked out.
The woman held some resemblance to my aunt who just died, so she had to be my mother. I looked a lot like my aunt, that was why I never doubted that she was my mother. There was no way I'd mistake our resemblance.
“Brittany, that is no way to treat a guest,” the woman scolded, and the girl, Brittany signed angrily and walked away, with some maids carrying her things.
“Hi, Fiona. It's nice to finally meet you,” the woman smiled as she approached me.
I smiled, happy that at least someone was happy to see me. She hugged me, before pulling back and looking at me.
'Is this my mom?’ I thought.
“I'm your mother's sister and your aunt, Olivia,” the woman introduced herself and I slowly nodded.
It was no wonder she looked so much like my aunt.
“Forgive your mom for not being able to greet you, but she's very busy, you know being the Luna and all,”
“Thank you very much for welcoming me. I appreciate it,” I said with a smile on my face and she smiled back at me.
“I'm very happy to do that,”
She then helped me carry my things in, because Brittany didn't spare any of the maids to help me out. Olivia took me into the house.
If I thought the outside was beautiful, then the inside was more than beautiful. The decorations looked wonderful and everything just got in perfectly and made the house look expensive. I was even scared to touch anything.
I was so engrossed in looking around that I almost fell on my face, and Olivia laughed at me.
“Please watch your step. You have more time to look at it and get used to it. You live here now, remember,”
With that, she took me up the stairs. Since my aunt died, I hadn't met anyone of this kind, so I was happy to know that everyone in my mother's family was like that.
We finally got to a room, and it was far higher than I expected. Just this room was bigger than half of the house I used to live in with my aunt.
“You can just leave your things like that because you'll still have a lot more to unpack,” Olivia said.
My eyebrows furrowed, as I stared at her not understanding what she meant.
“I mean we will be going shopping, as soon as you have eaten something and taken a little rest, she said with a warm smile.
Coming to live with my mom is not as bad as I thought it would, or so I thought.
