Bella POV
“Bella, I have an idea!” Lara suddenly said in my head.
“Yes?” I was curious about Lara’s idea.
“Hmm... It’s about a way to end the chosen mate relations. It might be hurtful but it should work.” Lara paused for a few seconds and continued, “Monica will definitely try everything to seduce the Prince as she wants the Prince and the Luna position so much. How about we offer her a chance?”
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“We can text her anonymously, telling her that the Prince invites her to his room. And we can also sneak out the news that you successfully mated with the Prince under the effect of the heating drug. She must then happily walk into the Prince's room with the heating drug.” She stopped and carefully checked my expression before adding, “And if she does have s*x with the Prince after that, we can report that to the Council about the Prince’s cheating and attempting to break the mate bond. “Let’s do it.” I nodded.
“Lady Monica, the Prince wants to meet you in his room, at 9 pm tonight” I edited an anonymous text and sent it to Monica. After that, I paid and asked one of the servants to pass on the news of Luna Isabella and the Prince mated last night because of the heating drug to Monica.
Maybe because of the yet-to-be-broken mate bond, I felt a twinge in my heart when doing these. But I tried to ignore it and then sneaked out of the Palace through the side door. It was lucky that none of the guards stopped me.
I soon arrived at Bruce’s place in about an hour.
“Wow, wow, wow, let’s see who’s here. It’s been almost three years since the last time you come out of the Palace and visit your friend. Or I should say you are kind of locked up ever since you’ve married into the Palace.” Bruce showed me a big smile as soon as he saw me.
“Hey man, it’s not that bad.” I chuckled, trying to make him less worried.
“Oh come on, Bella, it’s that bad. I even had to book a visit last time when I tried to give you a checkup. Not to You’re even poisoned. You should take this problem seriously.” Bruce made a stern face.
“I will, thanks, man.” I smiled and nodded. Bruce’s words made me feel warm. I was lucky to have him as my friend.
“Come and take the medication.” He led me into his lab, poured me a glass of water, and handed me the medicine.
I swallowed the pills.
“Are you leaving the Palace tomorrow?” Bruce asked.
“Change of plan. I might have to stay a few more days.” I sighed.
“What happened? Can I help?” He frowned and asked with concern.
“It’s just Lorenzo, he suddenly changed his mind and wanted to keep me in the Palace. And there’s one more thing. Can you get me some... morning-after pills?” I explained, feeling a bit awkward.
“What?! Did he force you?” Bruce slapped hard on the table and asked angrily.
“It’s not like that. We were both drugged, somehow. And it happened.”
There was a few minutes of silence in the lab.
“I see. I will ask my assistant in the hospital to send me some.” Bruce said with a dark face. He seemed to be upset. He must be worried and sorry about what had happened to me. He was such a good friend.
“Thank you, Bruce, for everything.”
“Bella, I...” He gazed at me with his dark brown eyes and uttered.
“Yes?”
“Nothing. I will make the call.” He paused for a few seconds and said.
He seemed to have something to tell me. But he chose not to in the end.
Never mind. He would tell me when he wanted to.
Bruce dialed his assistant’s phone number. But after a few minutes, he hung up with a darker face.
“What happened?” I asked with concern.
“All hospitals are banned from selling contraceptives for a day.”
“WHAT?!” I was stunned and suddenly thought of Lorenzo’s words, "I will make sure that you won’t get them. I am looking forward to the pups.”
That damn man!
“Then what should I do? I have to take the contraceptives today before it’s too late.”
“Don’t worry. Have you forgotten what I am? A doctor and a pharmacist. I can make an alternative medicine with the same effect for you now.”
“Yeah, how can I forget that you’re a genius doctor! You’re amazing, Bruce. You save my day.” I was so excited that I gave Bruce a hug.
“I am always at your service, Bella,” Bruce uttered in his gentle voice. His brown eyes were full of tenderness at the moment.
“Ohhhh! Does he like you? He looks so into you, Bella.” Lara suddenly screamed in my head.
“What are you talking about, Lara? He is my good friend! He is like a brother to me.” I retorted instantly.
“Fine then. But he also looks hot. What a pity.” Lara murmured in my head.
“Bella? Bella.” Bruce’s voice brought me to reality. “What’s going on? You seem like you were mind-linking someone just now.”
“Oh yeah, I forgot to tell you. I’ve got my wolf.”
“Really? That’s awesome! Congrats! That’s absolutely great news!” Bruce hugged me back cheerfully.
“The best news ever!” I laughed.
“Bella, I am so glad that you got your wolf. You seem more cheerful and happy.”
“I do feel so lucky and happy to have her.” I smiled and nodded.
“What’s her name then?” He asked, smilingly.
“Lara,” I said.
“What a beautiful name.”
“Yeah! The hot guy likes my name!” Bella wagged her tail excitedly.
I chuckled, telling Bruce. “Thank you for the compliments. Lara is over the moon.”
Bruce burst into laughter.
We all laughed.
“Well, I’d better make the pills for you and Lara now.”
“Go ahead, me and Lara will sit here and wait for Doctor Bruce’s great invention.” I joked.
