Few minutes later, Eddie made her way to the last floor to see if she would be able to get the footage.
"Hello ma'am,how can we help you',the clerk asked politely.
"Oh, nothing really I was wondering if I could see the footage of room R114", Eddie asked.
"I'm sorry but that's impossible,we can't provide it, it's invading our customers privacy",the clerk replied.
"I have no bad intentions,I just thought the man looked suspicious. . "
"All the same,we can't invade our customer's privacy based on your own mere illusions",the clerk replied.
"Do you know who I am,how dare you defy my orders", Eddie yelled.
"I'm sorry but rules are rules no matter the personality,the CEO made the rules himself",the clerk replied.
"Alright", Eddie stomped her foot on the floor and left,she could only resign to fate.
"This elder master Henderson is way too strict and hard to deal with but I can't give up,I have to get this crucial evidence".
Mark stood outside the huge towering building of the Henderson group of conglomerate.a meeting had just finished with the board of directors, Lucian has officially taken over as the CEO and work were already piling up and now he had to leave for a business deal in Lucian's stead.
"I'm sorry Lucian,I have to do at least this one thing for you", Mark muttered to himself and started the car engine.
Mia walked into the downtown restaurant which was already filled with guests.while at work she received a message from an unknown number asking her to meet at this restaurant to discuss urgent issues.
Glancing at every corners,she found a man sitting in a corner near the window waving a magazine and gesturing to his side,she quietly picked up her pace and walked over.
"Hello",she greeted politely and realized it was the guy who was with Lucian earlier this morning in the hotel.
"Miss O'Connor, have a seat,I won't waste your time as I don't have that much time either", Mark gestured to the chair opposite to his.
"Sure", Mia replied and sat down.
"I invited you here to discuss some important issues, firstly I would like you to listen to this", Mark said and passed her his cellphone which displayed a recording.
She looked at him, confused.
"Go ahead",he gestured.
Taking a deep breath,she clicked on the recording.
"Sweetheart are you feeling better now?",
"You promised to break off your relationship with her",
"Yeah, I planned to do that yesterday but Lucian sudden arrival hindered me,I have to keep her for now".
"All because of the inheritance,then what about me have you forgotten that am also an heir of the O'Connor family".
"I know,I know, I just can't break up with her now but don't worry you should know you're the only lady in my heart, after getting the inheritance she's as good as trash".
"Then what do I do now,sit and watch".
"Eddie,try to understand me . ."
"Yeah, I do bye.
Hearing the conversation play out,she recoiled back in shock,she could recognize Leonard and Eddie's voice,she shook her head in disbelief.
"What do you mean by this, you would go this fat to humiliate and defame Leonard ?", Mia asked."whatever is it that happens it's between the older generation,why . . "
"You think am framing them but the fact is indisputable,these two are taking advantage of you, you might as well as listen to this"Mark replied.
Mia hurriedly snatched the cellphone and played the second recording.
"Baby, you know I love you"
"I know but. . "
"But you're after her because of the inheritance".
"Of course,then after that I'll dump her and we'll live our own life happily, she's nothing compared to you but I need the inheritance".
Her hands shook and the phone slid onto the table,tears seeping out of her eyes as she gasped for breath,her though jumbled up and disoriented,she laughed off the first recording but this couldn't be disputed.they were indeed cheating on her.
"I didn't show you this to make you feel bad,I just want to let you know the truth, you deserve better and now we've reached the most important part of the conversation", Mark poured himself a tea.
"What else do you have to say", Mia sniffed.
"What about to discuss with you is about Lucian",he paused.
"What is it about Lucian", Mia asked nervously.was he going to blackmail her.
"Lucian",he paused standing up to walk towards the window staring at the buzzling city below."he had always loved you", Mark dropped the bombshell.
"Excuse me", Mia exclaimed in shock as she choked on the tea.
"Don't interrupt", Mark chided."you heared me right,Lucian had always loved you, it's been over a decade now".
"Isn't your actions now ruining your boss's reputation", Mia chided.
"No, Lucian is my boss and he is also like a brother to me so I can't watch him go about like this anymore,he has been in love with you for over a decade ever since you've met in Capetown", Mark explained."I swear with my life",he added seeing her unbelieving gaze.
Mia was surprised by was she was hearing, back then they were still kids, living in Capetown a little town, little Lucian had a withdrawn personality while Mia had a bubbly personality,they soon became close friends that others even mistook them for siblings.
"He wanted to tell you but the Henderson family then was complicated,he didn't want to drag you into such a mess so he kept quiet about his feelings, later when he returned to the city after his mother's demise he regretted his actions and wanted to marry you,to propose marriage but then his father died, Rose became frivolous and everything became more complicated and chaotic,he had to leave for abroad but he made a pledge to marry you once he arrived but he was too late".
Mia kept quiet,her heart thundering erratically in her chest.
