The Werewolf and the Hybrid

CHAPTER 6

BLYTHE has never been into any serious battle. She had just trained herself to protect herself from harm. Ayaw niyang umasa sa kaniyang kambal-diwa, sa proteksiyon na binibigay nito sa kaniya. Kasi kahit ito ang nagpoprotekta sa kaniya, sa kritikal na sitwasyon lamang siya nito kailangang iligtas dahil may limitasyon ang kakayahan nito. Iyon ang pinagkaiba sa kanilang dalawa ni Faye. Faye was her last line of defense when she was in a critical situation. That’s why her brother trained her how to fight and protect herself, because not all the time, Faye would help her.

Gripping the handle of her sword, Blythe did whatever she could to fight her enemy. Lima ang kalaban niya and the wolf were trying to help her. She was impressed by the wolf who became a warrior in her eyes. Para bang naturuan ito kung paano lumaban.

Right. Realization hit her. He is a werewolf. That’s why the wolf could fight.

Blythe is not a warrior, but at that moment, she is like a warrior fighting her enemy. But the vampires are so fast that she couldn’t even get a glimpse of them to s***h them. Malakas siyang napasinghap nang may marinig siyang bumagsak sa kaniyang likuran. Mabilis siyang tumingin sa kaniyang likuran at nakita niya ang itim na lobo na kagat-kagat ang bampira. And the vampire was trying to get rid of the wolf by scratching him.

Nasugatan si Lucas dahil sa pagkalmot sa kaniya ng bampira. Tumulo ang dugo sa kaniyang mga sugat pero hindi niya inalintana ‘yon. He would do everything to protect his mate. But then he saw his mate being tackled on the ground. Rage engulfed him. With his wolf form, he killed the vampire under him and ran towards the vampire who tackled his mate. Dinaganan niya ito at nagpagulong-gulong sila sa lupa.

Umangil si Lucas nang maramdaman niya ang pagdagan ng isang bampira sa kaniyang likuran.

Mabilis namang tumayo si Blythe at pinulot ang kaniyang espada. The wolf was fighting against the two and the other two vampires were looking at her. They attacked her and Blythe dodged their attack. She looked at the wolf. Pity took over her as she looked at the black wolf. Duguan na ito dahil sa pagkalmot rito ng dalawang bampira na kalaban nito. May sugat rin naman siya pero hindi ganun kalala kumpara sa lobong kasama niya.

I need to finish this. If this goes on, we will both die here.

At dahil hindi niya masugatan ang mga bampira gamit ang kaniyang espada dahil sa sobrang bilis ng mga itong gumalaw, binitawan niya ang kaniyang espada at itinarak sa lupa. Lumuhod siya at idinikit ang dalawang palad sa lupa.

Suddenly, vines came out of the ground and wrapped around the enemies. Then she summoned the lighting, her power. Sa gitna ng malakas na sikat ng araw, biglang dumilim ang kalangitan at kumulog ng malakas. Bigla lang kumidlat ng malakas at tinamaan ang mga kalaban na napuluputan ng mga baging.

Hinihingal na napaupo si Blythe sa lupa. That’s why she never used that power. Her cultivation was low and using her lightning power could drain her energy.

Nawala ang barrier na nakalagay sa buong paligid. Nawala rin ang madilim na kalangitan at bumalik ito sa dati. And the enemy were burned to death by Blythe’s power and now, ashes are scattered on the ground.

Lucas dropped on the ground, exhausted and bloody. Mabilis naman itong nilapitan ni Blythe at sinuri. Nakahinga siya ng maluwang nang makitang kalmot lamang ang sugat nito pero kahit naman kalmot lang masakit pa rin.

Ipinatong ni Blythe ang palad sa sugatang katawan ng lobo.

Lucas felt a warm feeling. He opened his eyes and saw his mate, healing his wounds. Nakatingin lang siya rito hanggang sa matapos nitong gamutin ang mga sugat niya.

Nginitian ni Blythe ang lobo. “Nagamot ko na ang mga sugat mo. I wanted to stay and look after you, but I have to go back to my house. My sister is probably looking for me now.” Aniya saka tumayo.

Lucas wanted to stop his mate, but he was already exhausted. He gave Lawrence back control of his body. But Blythe had already disappeared.

“What the hell happened?” Lawrence asked when he saw the ashes on the ground. And the surroundings smelled like there was an after-battle. He smells blood, but a familiar scent invades his nostrils.

The sweet jasmine. “Mate?”

MEANWHILE, Brianna, after she checked her students' reports, she left the office. Pumunta lamang siya rito sa University para mag-check. Wala na kasi siyang oras sa susunod kapag hindi pa niya ito gagawin ngayon. She felt tired and wanted to rest. She wonders what her sister is doing at home.

Brianna entered the car and was about to call her sister when she smelled a scent. The scent that has been engraved in her mind since her parents died.

“Hunters.” Aniya. It was the bad hunters again.

Humigpit ang hawak ni Brianna sa manibela at sinulyapan ang espada na nasa dashboard ng sasakyan. She had already hid her Nymph scent. Kaya naman ang naamoy ng iba ay isa siyang taong-lobo. But the bad hunter knew about her. They wanted to catch her and sell her to the highest bidder. O di naman kaya ay gusto siyang pag-eksperimentuhan.

Sighing, Brianna maneuvered her car. Hindi niya alam kung nasundahan siya ng mga bad hunters pero sana ay hindi. Kung sakali man na siya ang sadya ng mga ito, wala siyang magagawa kundi labanan ang mga ito. And it wouldn’t cause any problems since she didn’t belong to any pack.

She is a hybrid with two types of blood running in her veins. Her parents died because of the bad hunters. They died protecting her, and she promised them – to her parent’s grave – that whatever would happen, she must live on and avenge them one day. She wanted so badly to avenge her parent’s death, but it wasn’t the right time yet.

Hindi pa siya handa sa ngayon para ipaghiganti ang magulang niya. Kailangan pa niyang magsanay ng magsanay para hindi siya ang madehado kung sakali na makaharap niya ang mga hunters na pumatay sa magulang niya. She would kill them. She will take their lives like what they did when they took their parents' lives.

While maneuvering her car to leave the school campus, she could feel a pair of eyes looking at her. Maliban sa mga security guard na nagbabantay sa gate, walang estudyante ngayon. Nang madaanan niya ang gate, kumaway sa kaniya ang guwardiya at tinanguan lang naman niya ito bago niya isinara ang bintana sa tabi niya.

Pinaharurot ni Brianna ang kotse at habang nasa highway siya, nakita niya ang itim na kotse na sumusunod sa kaniya. Alam niyang siya ang sinusundan ng mga nakasakay sa itim na kotse. She clicked her tongue. Binilisan niya ang pagpapatakbo at bumilis rin ang takbo ng kotseng sumusunod sa kaniya.

Meanwhile, inside the black car following Brianna, the four people belong to the bad hunter’s organization. Though their organization was destroyed by the Former Queen of werewolves, they appointed a new leader, and he was the one who was leading them.

“Sino ba ang sakay ng kotseng sinusundan natin? She was just an ordinary werewolf.” Reklamo ng taong nakasakay sa driver seat.

“Sabi ni boss, isa siyang hybrid. Matagal na siyang hinahanap ni boss. Pwede raw siyang pagkakitaan ng malaking halaga at pwede pa siyang pag-eksperimentuhan. Syempre, kapag nakuha natin siya, malaki rin ang mapupunta sa ating pera.” Sabi naman ng lalaking nakaupo sa passenger seat.

While the other two in the back seat just groaned and shrugged. Para sa kanila, gusto na nilang magawa ang pinapagawa sa kanila para matapos na ‘to. They’ve been tracking her, and now they have found her. Hindi pwedeng makawala pa ito sa kanila.

“I can’t wait anymore.” Anang isa na nasa backseat. Ibinaba niya ang bintana sa kaniyang tabi at inilabas ang sniper riffle upang barilin ang kotseng nasa kanilang harapan.

“Boss said she wants the target unscathed.” Sabi ng lalaking nakaupo sa passenger seat na siyang nagsisilbing team leader nila.

The hunter who was holding the rifle clicked his tongue and put down his rifle.

Back in Brianna’s car, she stepped on the gas and her car was now at full speed. Kung sinuman ang sakay ng itim na kotse na ‘yon kailangan niyang layuan ang mga ito.

“Damn!” Napamura na lamang si Brianna nang makita niyang bumilis ang takbo ng sumusunod sa kaniyang kotse at hinahabol na siya.

“Why do I feel like I am a criminal? I am a college professor for pete sake!” Kinabig ni Brianna ang manibela pakanan hanggang sa makarating siya sa lugar na medyo tago.

It’s not that she knew the place very well. Pero everytime kasi na lilipat sila ng kapatid niya sa ibang lugar, tinitignan niya ang buong paligid. More like scouting the whole place to know where the safe place is and where they can hide if there is something dangerous that might happen just like now.

Nang makita ni Brianna na lumagpas na ang kotseng sumusunod sa kaniya, nagpalipas muna siya ng ilang sandali bago niya pinaandar ang kotse saka tinahak ang daan na pinanggalingan niya. Nilagpasan niya kanina ang daan patungo sa bahay nila ng kapatid niya.

Brianna saw her sister on the rooftop of their house and just sitting there like nobody’s business when she came home. Nagmamadali siyang bumaba ng kotse saka tinawag ang kapatid. “Get down, Blythe. Let’s pack.”

Hearing the words ‘Let’s pack’, Blythe immediately knew that something had happened. Kaya naman lumundag siya sa pababa at swabeng lumapat ang paa niya sa lupa. Agad siyang pumasok sa kabahayan.

“They’re here.” Sabi ni Brianna. “Pack your clothes and important stuff.”

Walang imik na tumango si Blythe at sinunod ang utos ng kapatid.

Sinundan ni Brianna ng tingin si Blythe nang may malanghap siyang ibang amoy mula rito pero hindi na niya ito pinansin.

The siblings packed their clothes and other important stuff. Of course, hindi nila kinalimutan ang mga gamit nila. Their swords and their other weapons. Brianna put their things inside the car. Sandali niyang tinignan ang bahay na naging tirahan nila ng dalawang taon ngayon aalis na naman sila ng kapatid niya. Tinignan niya ng nakakabatang kapatid na kapareha niyang nakatingin rin sa bahay nila.

“Blythe, I’m sorry. But we have to leave this house again.”

Blythe sighed. “It’s okay, Ate. Gusto ko ring umalis na lugar na ‘to. It’s not safe anymore.”

Kumunot ang nuo ni Brianna. “Bakit? Anong nangyari?” tanong niya. For her sister to say something like that, something must have happened.

“I’ll tell you in the car, Ate.”

“Sige.”

Pumasok ang magkapatid sa kotse saka umalis na. Pero hindi napansin ni Brianna ang isang hunter na nagmamanman sa kanilang magkapatid.

At isang bampira sa hindi kalayuan na siyang nagmanman kay Blythe dahil sa nangyari sa kagubatan kanina lamang.

Now, two groups of people would hunt the siblings.

Habang nasa biyahe sila, kinuwento ni Blythe ang nangyari sa kapatid niya. Yes, lahat. She didn’t miss out on anything. After telling the whole story, she sighed and looked at her sister who was driving.

“And that happens, Ate…”

Napakurap si Brianna saka sinulyapan ang kapatid. “Mate…” she muttered. Sa lahat ng sinabi ng kaniyang kapatid, isa ito sa mga naalala niya. “He called your mate?” hindi makapaniwalang tanong niya.

Tumango si Blythe. “Ate, ano ‘yon? You seemed shocked.”

Umiling si Brianna. “Nothing.” She sighed. I might as well never say anything to my sister about what the ‘mate’ meant. My sister is not ready for that. But who the hell is that wolf who called my sister his mate?

“Ate, saan na tayo pupunta?” tanong ni Blythe kapagkuwan.

Brianna was pulled back to her reverie after hearing her sister’s question. “In the neighboring city. Malapit ‘yon sa dagat. I readied an apartment for us there. Well, in case there will be an emergency.”

Napatango si Blythe. Sanay na siya sa Ate Brianna niya. Lagi itong nakahanda sa lahat ng oras. Hindi na rin bago sa kaniya na palipat-lipat sila ng tirahan. She still remembers the last time they moved. They were hunted by bad hunters. Pinasabog ng mga ito ang bahay nila mabuti na lang at mabilis silang nakaalis ng kapatid niya kaya buhay pa sila hanggang ngayon.

Ngayon nahanap na naman sila. At mukhang hindi na lang hunters ang maghahanap sa kanila kundi maging ang mga bampira dahil sa ginawa niya. Batid niyang alam na ng mga bampira ang nangyari kanina. She knew that they weren’t just a group, but there were a lot of vampires waiting to dominate the whole world. How does she know? She heard it from the vampire who killed her father.

“My parents were killed by hunters and your father was killed by vampires.” Ani Brianna. And she sighed. “Maybe fate brought us together. Naging sandalan natin ang isa’t-isa.”

Sumang-ayon si Blythe sa sinabi ng kaniyang kapatid.

Arriving at their destination, the neighboring city, where their new home will be. She stepped out of the car and a familiar cold breeze embraced her. Nagtaka si Blythe. This feeling… She felt this when she was in the forest with that wolf.

This place…

“What happened to you?” tanong ni Brianna nang makita niya ang mukha ng kapatid niya.

Umiling si Blythe. “Wala po, Ate.” Tugon niya at tinignan ang paligid. She sighed and took her luggage from the back compartment of the car.

It was a simple apartment, but this will do. Hindi naman siya naghahanap ng magara. Simpleng bahay lang ay ayos na sa kaniya. Basta kasama niya ang Ate niya. Tanging ito na lang kasi ang pamilya niya. Her father was dead. Her mother, well, she never met her and her father never mentioned her. Siguro, nasabi na nito ang tungkol sa kaniyang ina pero bata pa siya at hindi na niya ito maalala.

“Let’s go, little sister. Kailangan nating magpahinga bago tayo mag-ayos ng mga gamit natin.”

Tumango si Blythe at sumunod sa kapatid na pumasok sa apartment.

But their presence was found out by the Alpha of the Night Moon Pack. After all, Brianna is a werewolf, and she doesn’t belong to any pack, and that makes her a Rogue.
