CHAPTER 27

LAWRENCE hissed when the blood of rogues stained his clothes. Pero kahit pagpagin niya ang dugo hindi na ito matanggal dahil nakamantsa na ito sa damit niya. Then he quickly dodged the Rogue who attacked him. He used his inner strength to attack the Rogue who attacked him. Bumagsak ito at nawalan ng malay.

Mabilis niyang hinawakan sa leeg ang Rogue na nakagat sa isang pack warrior saka niya ito ibinalya sa puno.

The Night Moon Pack warriors versus the Rogues. Marami ang mga Rogues na umatake sa kanila.

So, Lawrence knew that someone was instigating them.

“Don’t kill them!” Lawrence ordered his pack warriors.

His pack warriors in their wolf form were circling the Rogues, who were also in their wolf form. Some of the Rogues were lying on the ground and unconscious but none of them were dead.

“Your Majesty, be careful!” Cade yelled when he saw one of the Rogues, out of nowhere, attack the Alpha King.

It was already too late for Lawrence to dodge, and he could be killed anytime by the sharp claws of the Rogue who attacked him. But out of nowhere, suddenly, a vine wrapped around the Rogue's body. The vine pulled the Rogue and slammed him against the tree. One of the pack warriors immediately held the Rogue.

The pack warriors immediately surrounded their Alpha King to protect him.

Cade was curious about where the vine came from. At habang nagtataka naman si Cade, alam na ni Lawrence kung saan nanggaling ang baging na ‘yon.

“My Queen,” Lawrence spoke tenderly. “Come out.”

Out of nowhere, Blythe appeared beside Cade.

Nagulat naman si Cade dahil sa biglang paglitaw ng reyna sa tabi niya.

Blythe smiled innocently at Lawrence and waved her hand. “Hi, Ren.”

Napailing na lang si Lawrence saka naglakad palapit kay Blythe. Tinapik niya sa balikat si Cade. “You know what you will do.”

Cade bowed. Then he faced the pack warriors, “Line them up!”

Nagtaka naman si Blythe kung ano ang ginagawa ni Cade kaya nagtanong siya kay Lawrence.

Lawrence smiled. “He will interrogate them. Though I don’t like Rogue, Mom said that not every Rogue is bad. Some of them are forced, and some of them are already born as Rogue.”

“Then?”

“Then if they aren’t as bad as we thought, we will let go of them, and if they want to join the pack, why not?” Sabi ni Lawrence. “What’s the matter?”

Umiling si Blythe. “Naalala ko lang si Ate Brianna. She’s a Rogue, and I was worried about her.”

Ngumiti si Lawrence. “Don’t worry. Someone is protecting her.”

Kumunot ang nuo ni Blythe. “Someone? Who?”

Ngumiti lang si Lawrence. “You will know soon.”

Blythe pouted. “Hindi ba pwedeng sabihin mo na lang, please?”

“No. It will breach their privacy.”

“Oh.” Nagbaba ng tingin si Blythe.

“By the way, my Queen, what are you doing here?” tanong ni Lawrence.

Kaagad naman na nag-iwas ng tingin si Blythe. “I… I was just strolling when I heard some noises, so I came to check.”

“Are you telling the truth?”

Tumango si Blythe.

“Sure?”

Nag-iwas ulit ng tingin si Blythe. “No.”

Lawrence chuckled. “I knew it.” Hinawakan niya ang kamay ni Blythe. “If you want to tag along, you can tell me. Para naman alam ko. Hindi kita pipigilan dahil alam ko naman na alam mo kung paano protektahan ang sarili mo pero sana sabihin mo sa akin.”

“Hmm.” Tumango si Blythe saka nagbaba ng tingin.

“Wait for me.” Sabi ni Lawrence. “Or you can go back to the palace now.”

“I’ll wait for you.”

Ngumiti si Lawrence saka naglakad palapit kay Cade na kasalukuyang ine-interrogate ang mga Rogue na nahuli nila.

Habang si Blythe naman ay napatitig kay Lawrence. Parang nararamdaman niya ang sarili na gusto niya itong kagatin. Hindi naman ako lobo, bakit ko siya gustong kagatin?

At napaisip siya tungkol sa nangyari sa kaniya kanina sa loob ng banyo. While she was looking at her reflection in the mirror, her eyes suddenly turned red. Sandali siyang natigilan at maya-maya pa ay bumalik sa dating berde ang kulay ng mata niya.

Kaya naman naglakad-lakad siya sa labas ng palasyo hanggang sa marinig niya na nagkakagulo sa border pack at narinig niya na pumunta doon si Lawrence. So, she followed him because she was worried.

Ngayon, iba naman ang nararamdaman niya, parang gusto niyang kagatin kanina si Lawrence. Naaakit siyang kagatin ang leeg nito kanina kaya hindi siya makatingin rito.

The wind blows, and several scents invade her nostrils. Napatakip na lamang siya ng ilong dahil paiba-iba ang amoy na nalalanghap niya. She was familiar with the scent of the forest, grass, trees, and plants but not this kind of rusty smell. But one scent caught her attention. It was a chocolate mix with a mint scent. That scent was coming from Lawrence.

For the first time, Blythe could distinguish Lawrence’s scent from others. She was happy but, at the same time, confused. Bakit parang mas lumakas yata ang pang-amoy ko? Hindi naman ganito dati.

When Lawrence looked at her, she just smiled. But then, a strange smell invaded her nostrils again. Kaagad na nasa tabi niya si Lawrence at ipinalibot nito ang braso sa beywang niya na para bang pinoprotektahan siya. Pati na ang mga pack warriors na kasama nila ay naging alerto rin.

“What’s the matter?”

“Vampires…” Sabi ni Lawrence.

That strange smell…

Mabilis na naglaho si Blythe.

“Blythe!” Lawrence called to his mate when she suddenly disappeared beside him.

Good thing that his mate’s scent didn’t disappear, so he followed his mate’s scent until he reached the West Border. Blythe was there, so he immediately scolded her.

“Blythe, don’t disappear just like that,” he scolded her.

But Blythe ignored his scolding, but instead she pointed out something. Kaagad naman na sumunod doon ang tingin ni Lawrence at nakita niya ang mga nakahandusay na katawan sa lupa.

Lawrence and Blythe walked toward the dead bodies and inspected them.

“They were killed by vampires.” Sabi ni Lawrence nang makita niya ang dalawang butas sa leeg ng mga biktima.

Kumuyom ang kamay ni Blythe. “Sila na naman.”

Napatingin si Lawrence sa mate niya. “Baby?”

“My father was killed by them. Now, they have taken another life again. How many lives will they take until they are satisfied?!” Tumaas ang boses ni Blythe dahil sa galit.

Lawrence was taken aback because this was the first time that Blythe showed anger. Her green eyes even changed their color and became red. But her red eyes disappeared and went back to their original color. Pero hindi niya inaasahan ang nalaman niya mula kay Blythe. “Your father was killed by vampires?”

Tumango si Blythe. “I wanted to avenge my father’s death, but I am not strong enough, and I am not yet capable. So, I wanted to become strong and capable. Only by being strong and capable, can I kill that bastard who killed my father. Namatay ang ama ko sa mismong harapan ko at ang pangyayari na ‘yon sa buhay ko ang hindi ko makalimutan. That event in my life keeps haunting me and has become a nightmare.” Tumulo ang luha niya. Then she looked at Lawrence. “Will you despise me because I am not the ideal Queen? I knew a Queen must be graceful and virtuous, but I’m not. I’m sorry.”

“Baby…”

Umatras si Blythe nang tangka siyang lapitan ni Lawrence.

“Baby, I’m not a narrow-minded person. Please, don’t step back.” Lawrence begged.

“I wanted to kill the vampire who killed my father.” Umiiyak na saad ni Blythe.

It was heartbreaking for Lawrence to see his mate like this, but before he could comfort her, Blythe disappeared. At the same time, dumating ang mga pack warriors sa pamumuno ng Head Warrior na si Liam.

“Liam, take care of those dead bodies.”

Liam bowed. “Yes, Your Majesty.”

Mabilis na sinundan ni Lawrence si Blythe at naabutan niya ito sa may bangin.

“Baby…”

Mabilis na naglakad si Blythe palapit sa bangin.

“Baby, don’t do this, please.” Pagmamakaawa ni Lawrence. Inilahad niya ang kaniyang kamay. “Come to me.”

Umiling si Blythe. “I realized one thing, Ren. The reason why I didn’t leave this place.... though I can leave at ease and anytime I want, and I have my advantage.... is because I felt safe and secure with you. With you by my side, I wasn’t afraid of anything. But, right now…”

“Are you regretting it? Staying with me?” Tanong ni Lawrence.

Tumingin si Blythe sa bangin at tumalikod rito. Ngayon nakaharap siya kay Lawrence. Hindi niya sinagot ang tanong ni Lawrence. “I just realized when you got whipped because of me. I realized that I like you. This feeling I have for me hindered me of the revenge I want to have.”

Kumuyom ang kamay ni Lawrence habang nakatingin kay Blythe. “So, you regret staying here?”

Umiling si Blythe. “No, I don’t regret staying with you. You’re sincere to me and you’re a good man. Ren, you told me that you liked me, right?”

Tumango si Lawrence. “That was before, but now, I don’t like you anymore.”

Natigilan si Blythe. “W-what?”

“I don’t like you anymore because I already love you. Mahal na mahal kita at hindi ko kakayanin na mawala ka sa akin.”

“Really?”

Tumango si Lawrence.

“Kung talagang mahal mo ako, kung sakali ba na sasabihin ko na sasamahan mo ako na mamatay gagawin mo ba?” tanong ni Blythe.

Hindi malaman ni Lawrence kung sinusubok ba siya ni Blythe o ano. “Anong ibig mong sabihin?”

Ngumiti si Blythe saka tumingin sa bangin. “Kung sakali ba na tatalon ako ngayon rito at mamatay, sasama ka ba sa akin?”

Mabilis na sumagot si Lawrence. “Yes, I will be with you.”

“Really?” Blythe asked and before Lawrence could answer, Blythe jumped off the cliff.

“Blythe!” Mabilis na tumakbo si Lawrence palapit sa bangin at tumingin sa ibaba. Walang pag-aalinlangan na tumalon rin siya sa bangin. His body hit the water, and he quickly resurfaced to find his mate.

Tumatawang Blythe ang naabutan niya sa ibaba ng bangin.

“Crazy…” Lawrence couldn’t help but mutter that.

Blythe laughed. “I was just kidding.”

Napailing na lang si Lawrence saka niyakap si Blythe. “But I wasn’t kidding when I told you that I love you.”

Blythe blushed. “I like you too.”
