7. A different kind of party

"But...you promised..." I whispered, dejectedly lowering my gaze to my simple black chucks, fighting the tears threatening to spill all over my cheeks. "Yes, and now I take it back,” He stated in a cold, distant tone, not even bothering to raise his sight from the papers lying on his desk. I knew too damn well why he was doing this. After that incident few days ago with Ricardo, he started fearing that the bastard would try to come after me.So he increased our security staff, guarding every single corner of our estate. He even made Kieran my personal bodyguard, instructing him to follow me absolutely everywhere, even at school, this meaning I was forced to take a ride with his car every morning and afternoon, instead of going with Leila, as I used to. However, I complied and accepted all this, hoping that if I indulge him, he would still agree to let me go to that frat party with Leila. Clearly, I was wrong. "Whatever. I'm done with this s**t. Don't even bother to talk to me again,” I venomously spat, then turned around and stormed outside his office, angrily slamming the door behind me. My vision turned blurry, feeling hot tears gathering in my eyes as I was running down the hallway, heading to my room, but everything suddenly stopped when I accidentally collided with a black, solid warm wall. A sweet, discreet masculine scent filled my nostrils and I focused my vision on my palms now firmly pressing against the black wall, realizing it was a suit, a person wearing a suit to be more specific, so I raised my sight, only to face a very concerned Luc. It wasn't uncommon to see him wandering in my house, since he became something very close to a friend to my brother, after that horrible day. "Blake? What happened? Are you alright?" His deep, velvety voice pulled me out of my spinning thoughts, his hands gently touching my shoulders, his piercing silvery eyes attentively scanning all over my features like trying to decipher what was going through my head. "I...I'm fine…” I lied, slowly lowering my eyes, fixing my gaze on a button on his dress jacket. I didn't want to tell him. Even if my brother was an asshole, I wasn't going to run around like a crybaby and tell everybody what a shitty of a big brother Ricky is.It wouldn't be fair, because after all, he was just trying to protect me, even if his measures were absurdly drastic. His slender fingers went under my chin, gently raising my face, coaxing me to look into his hypnotic eyes. "Blake..." He sighed, delicately wiping my wet cheek with his thumb,"If you're fine, then why are you crying?" He asked in a warm, soothing tone and though his gentleness almost made me give up, I chose to remain silent, not uttering a single word. After a couple of moments of intensely staring at each other, noticing I wasn't going to say anything anytime soon, he gave up. "Very well. I'm going to ask your brother then,” He calmly stated, reluctantly taking his hands off me then stepped aside, intending to walk away. Seeing him so determined to find out the cause of my distress, I finally gave up, deciding to tell him. "Wait." After telling him all about what happened earlier with my brother and why, we sat there in silence for a couple of moments, Luc seeming to contemplate about something while I just sat there, resting my head against the wall, silently accepting my fate. This is who I am and always will be...The most feared guy's sister, who also happens to have a lot of enemies, waiting for the perfect moment to hurt him through me, the only one he cares about the most... "I have a better idea,” He stated, suddenly pulling me out of my drifting thoughts, his fingers gingerly tucking my hair behind my ear, drawing my attention towards him. I raised one eyebrow, staring at him, silently inviting him to elaborate. "How bad do you want to go to a party?" He asked, his perfect plump lips slightly curled up into a light smile, looking at me like I were a little child. "Are you being serious right now? I've just told you that I’ve never went to a party before, like five minutes ago!" I incredulously shouted, staring up at him, earning a small chuckle from him. Is this guy for real? "Well then, little Blake, I'm going to throw one just for you,” He stated, his index finger gently touching the tip of my nose, his pearly white smile being on full display. I stared at him, dumbfounded for a few moments, trying to register what he just said, before I finally opened my mouth, uttering a single word, "What?"
