He was feeling in his inside pocket as he spoke. Then he drew out two envelopes and Sheila could see that they were addressed to her father. She thought that Wilkins must have taken them out of the secretary’s desk because they were obviously several years old. Wilkins opened one and pulled out the letter that was inside. She realised that they were the references of the man who had looked after their affairs until unfortunately her father could not afford to pay him any longer. The man’s name was Stephen Aird.
