Chapter 19:
A glow came from inside Adriana’s chest.
Lucky stepped back and let his flames drop along with his jaw. He wanted to grab her and hold her, but the fear of interrupting her process overwhelmed his fear of not holding her one last time. The glow from her inner light nearly covered the platform. It was a dim glow but enough to keep the shadow dragons at a distance.
“I think it’s working.” Death’s hushed voice was barely audible over Ta’Hast’s wails of grief.
“It isn’t fixed yet. The fire needs to light, and the bits and pieces surrounding us need to start to move.” Lucky pointed with his arm to the structures surrounding them.
“She has nearly done it. She has nearly completed the repairs. I knew she would do it.” The deep voice echoed out from the shadows encircling the plat
