The detective was about to reply, but he is distracted by Jessica nodding insistently. “Fair enough,” the detective says. “Were you two alone that night?”
Jessica shakes her head, no. The detective scribbles down her answer before asking, “who was in the house with you Jessica?”
Jessica shakes her head again. “Jessica, I need you to tell me who it was that was in the house with you.” The detective's frustration is palpable when Jessica doesn’t answer.
“Jessica!” The detective yells. “I was serious when I told you how important this is.”
Bonnie instantly jumps in, “How dare you speak to a child that way! You aren’t going to get anywhere if you talk to her that way.”
He resigns, bites his tongue, and leans back in his chair. Bonnie looks over to Jessica—she is staring right back
