Taylor
" I can't hear you." Kaine continues talking. " Kaine." I yell waving my hands in his face. He just keeps talking.
" Why can't he hear me. Let's hope this works." I take a couple steps back then run forward tackling Kaine.
" f**k," I hold my head as I lay on the floor.
" Taylor." Footsteps are heard coming down the steps. I get up off the floor holding my head. I sit on the bed rubbing my forehead.
" Are you okay?"
" Yeah." Grace stands in front of me pulling my hands away.
" I don't know how much this will help." She places her hands on the sides of my head. The heat radiating from her hands soothes the pain. After a few seconds she removes her hands.
" How are you feeling?"
" Better thanks."
" How did you hit your head?" She place her hands on her hips.
" Fell out of the bed," I shake my head standing up.
" Breakfast is about done. Come up when you are dressed." I grab my towel heading to the bathroom. I brush my teeth thinking about the dream.
What does that mean? I spit the toothpaste out rinsing my mouth.
I need to see Constance. I get in the shower washing up fast. I get out drying off then going back to the room. I pull out a sports bar, tank top and sweatpants. I go upstairs going into the kitchen.
" Did they leave yet. I'm ready to go outside." Nayyirah stirs a pot.
" Not yet."
" What's for breakfast?"
" I almost pissed myself," Nayyirah holds her hand to her chest.
" Your slacking," I walk over to the stove glancing at the food.
" Tell Niome the foods ready." Nayyirah walks out the room. Grace walks over to me.
" What's going on?"
" I had a weird dream. I need to speak to Constance about it."
"I'll see what I could do."
" Thanks," we pile food on plates taking them to the dining room. We all sit at the table eating in silence.
" When are we going to start training?" I look at Nayyirah "soon as we are told they have left and they have an area for us to train."
" Okay." I look over at Niome " you fine with that?"
" Yes." I get up from the table grabbing my plate. I walk into the kitchen washing my plate.
" You need to ease up on the girls." Grace put her plate in the water.
" I can't. Niome has to learn to fight for her life when we leave her. I'm going to prepare her for that."
" They're still girls Taylor. I know you never had a childhood but you can at least give them one." I bite my lower lip looking at the plate.
"I'll give them the weekends off but monday through Friday they will train." I reinse the plate off putting in the rack. Grace pat my back. A knock on the door made Grace scurry out of the kitchen. I grip the sink.
Grace is right but I can't let them go out there unprepared. I let go of the sink walking to the living room. Grace and the beta stand in the hallway.
" I personally escorted them out of the territory this morning."
" I was starting to feel like a prisoner in my own home," they both chuckle.
I walk down the hall as Gabe turns around. " Taylor, Alpha James wants to talk to you in his office."
" Sure, let me grab some shoes." I walk down the hall into the kitchen. Niome moves in front of me " what's going on?"
" I just need to talk to the alpha. No need to worry." I walk around her to the basement. I walk into the room grabbing the shoes behind the door. I sit on the bed sliding my feet in.
I need to get my old pair. I get off the bed going upstairs. Gabe and Grace are still standing by the front door.
" I'll show the girls around and introduce them to people."
" Okay. I'll see y'all later." Gabe holds the door open letting go through first.
" This way," Gabe walks across the street. " Do you know why he wants to see me."
" No." I sigh following him down the street.
We walk to one of the builds that has a clock on it.
What are we in a fairy tail? We walk into the building, walking up the spiral stairs. At the top Alpha James sits in his office behind the desk. He looks up from some paper.
" Good morning Taylor."
" Good morning Alpha James."
" Take a seat we have a lot to discuss." I take a seat in front of his desk.
" Taylor I'm going to get straight to it. What are we going to be dealing with in the next two months?"
" Very skilled assassins. Abilities range form moves elements like water, fire and they have some connection to spirits.
There are healers like Grace that will most likely won't be on the front lines. Then you'll have the ones with super strength and speed they'll be the most eager to fight. Last are the one like me that can make any weapon of their choosing." James leans back in his seat.
" How are we going to win this?"
" With careful training and a plan."
" What type of training do you have in mind?" I sit up straighter in my seat.
" Since most of your fighters are hand to hand combat already. I want them to be trained on how to use weapons. We are going to be dealing with more than just hand to hand combat. I would like everyone to be prepared."
Jame puts his hand on his chin taking time to think.
" What about the element fighter?"
" Your pack will train with us. Nayyirah is a fire element which can help some."
" What about the other one?"
" She's a healer."
"It seems that you have a solid plan so far."
" Yeah I just need to look at your training ground and the equipment that you have." " I'll have Derek show you around." I look around the room while he did the wolfie thing. There's a huge bookshelf across the room. A love seat next to the bookshelf. His desk has a lot of pictures of him and his wife. There are some current pictures of Kaine as well.
" Derek should be here in a few. He can talk to him about the change in training."
" Okay."
A knock on the door shakes me a little
" Alpha James." A tall thin figure stands in the doorway.
He's good. I didn't hear a footstep.
" Derek, this is Taylor. She'll be working with you to improve training."
" Yes alpha." I get out of my seat staring at Derek.
" Nice meeting you." I hold my hand out. He hesitates for a second but shakes it.
" I'll talk to you both later for a plan of action."
"Yes, Alpha James." " Yes, alpha." Derek leaves the room with no warning. I damn sprint down the steps to keep up with him. " Derek." He continues out the building.
I know he hears me with their super hearing. I caught up to him " Derek."
He grunts but keeps walking.
Who pissed in his cheerios this morning. I kept his pace walking to the end of the town. In the middle of the ground is a huge white mat.
" This is the training grounds. Over there is the shed with our equipment. At the mouth of the forest is a trail that we run." I analyze the layout.
This could work. " How many days a week do you train."
"Three."
" We are going to need to add two extra days to that." I walk on the mats pressing my foot into it.
"Who do you think you are? Coming in and telling me how many days I'm going to train. We wouldn't be in this if you wouldn't have killed the McKinnon's." Derek damn near chest to chest with me. I raise my eyebrow at him.
" It's good that you think you know me but you're wrong. I am going to tell you when to train and the way to. If you have a problem with that talk to your alpha."
